I don’t know if I agree with that. Back when I looked into it a couple years ago, the missile shield wasn’t on track to being effective effective from a practical standpoint at the time of its deployment. Getting rid of a system that has no real promise of working is a prudent move.

The shorter range defensive system has been working quite well now.
With new technology, you cannot go by info a few years old.
Remember, the early aircraft were quite unreliable, and killed more pilots in training than in combat.
