Kurds are working on it.

It seems like Iraq is letting the Kurds handle it. The Kurds are chipping away at the defenses, and are beginning to try to encircle it, if the salient around Tel Keppe is anything to go by.

Tel Keppe was ethnicly cleansed of Assyrians, and is now home only to Arabs under DAESH.

I think a reverse cleansing may happen.
