I’d echo what Simply Sarah said and add the caveat that fair use isn’t clearly defined, so it can be a slippery slope. You’re better off either purchasing inexpensive stock photography (many sites offer “editorial” versions of more expensive photos/artwork) or looking for images that are CC (Creative Commons) licensed (try Flickr), or ones that have been released into the public domain.

If you email me and tell me what kind of images you think you may use, I can give you some URLs. There are also sites like the morgueFile.

Oh, you can also try Wikimedia Commons (when on Wikipedia, if you pay attention to the photos, you’ll see some are public domain).

Yeah, very true. Fair use is often a minefield that only sometimes is clearly laid out. It’s a great concept in theory, but doesn’t work so well when you need a lawyer to sort it out for you.
