I knew this story was BS the minute I saw it this morning, not because ISIS lacks the brutality to do something so sickening, but because (as has already been pointed out) it’s not a practice that has its roots in Islam. They wouldn’t be able to back it up with anything Islamic, no matter how much they cherry-picked & distorted things. Also, it was another one of those stories like puppy bombs, sex jihad, or Egypt’s “farewell intercourse” law that supposedly sanctioned necrophilia with a dead spouse—it’s just too way out there.

Also, like Syria, Iraq is basically in the middle of a civil war, so the various factions are going to be putting out all kinds of disinformation to try and scare or sway the citizenry and set the media on their opponents.

In any event I didn’t bother jumping in as the MWW was on duty and figured it might appear that I was acting as an apologist for Muslim extremists, especially since even mainstream outlets like the BBC were running with it. When will they learn? Oh right, I forgot—it’s no longer about actual journalism, it’s about clicks. *sigh, smh*

Actually, there are fatwas that demand FGM and fatwas that condemn it. People tend to cherry pick whatever suits them.
