I haven’t read many of Stephen King’s more recent novels, because the last several I did read seemed to follow a pattern where the first 2/3 of the story are really engrossing and then suddenly he whips out the dumbest third act imaginable. It’s terribly frustrating.

I nearly always find his short-story collections to be worth several re-reads, however.
