Wow, you know— in ref to your linked comment, I *did* see a post somewhere on memeorandum today suggesting Palin would run as a member of the alaskan independence party. That just seemed like such a long shot to me though. Hmmm…..

And thanks for linking that Time interview and the link through as well. I was aware that she’d won the mayoral election by introducing ‘dogwhistle’ issues into a contest that hadn’t relied on them before. It’s one of the things that made me a bit leery of her from the beginning. (Once she was nominated that is; I hadn’t heard of her before that.)

I try to give her the benefit of the doubt too, but nothing she’s done since has dissuaded me from thinking she’s someone who thrives on dogwhistles and the like. I think she enjoys the contest of running, to be honest. It’s a criticism of Obama that he’s in perpetual campaign mode, and I think that has some validity, but I think the same can be said for Palin.
