We always bought margarine because, you know…poor. But unless the tRump administration reverses it, which they might, “real” margarine is supposed to disappear this October. And no, the 40-70%-water “spread” is not “Great for Baking™”!

My family, too, when I was a child. Mom used the old term “oleo.” (Disclosure: DW has to use a dairy-free/gluten-free substitute, but things like bacon grease for cooking are a-ok.)
