Johnson was clearly unsuccessful at foreign policy but he had an amazing set of domestic policy accomplishments — Medicare, Medicaid, Voting Rights Act, Civil Rights Act, anti-poverty programs, the appointment of the first African-American to the SC. I marched in Washington against him but he is often underrated.
And if Kennedy had lived, you would have been marching against him, so his reputation would have been quite a bit different, too.
