I’m curious as to why the shooter targeted Abe; we know he’s former Maritime Self-Defense Forces (basically, the Japanese Navy) but was he trying to send some kind of political message or is he just some irritable psycho who wanted to get into the history books?

The thing that shocks me is the idea that someone would be able to get that close to a former world leader, essentially point blank, and point a weapon at them, much less fire it off, before security could neutralize them.
