OT Haven't had a chance to listen to this video yet. Have been listening to my scanner in re a terrible fire at a board and care facility where someone has died. Now there is another incident where someone is shooting people at a restaurant in Pasadena. OMG

I never was too much into hair metal....... After hearing this guy I guess I should have paid more attention to "Mr. Big" back in the 80's.... who knew?
I thought the "Fucking Champs" we're great. Paul Gilbert puts them to shame..... thanks Charles.
56 | Spartacus50 Fri, May 29, 2009 7:17:11pm |
Racer X rocks. Glad to see Charles posting two of Gilbert's vids.
57 | Spartacus50 Fri, May 29, 2009 7:20:00pm |
I still have the "Street Lethal" tape somewhere.
I suspect Charles is a closet Satriani fan
59 | justdanny Fri, May 29, 2009 10:52:36pm |
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm........
I first heard that RacerX song around twenty five years ago. I came in a guitar magazine (forget which one) on one of those thin plastic floppy 45 records.
60 | padubis Fri, May 29, 2009 11:12:09pm |
I had a sweet Rickenbacker and traded it in with cash for a G and L with a spongy neck. No mistaking its sound. Nice vid...

Don't quite understand the astronaut suits, but the string work is excellent! ;-)>
62 | Our Precious Bodily Fluids Sat, May 30, 2009 1:28:06am |
I love guitar shred more than anyone (even you), but I don't understand why anyone cares at all about Paul Gilbert. I think Alan Holdsworth and Steve Vai are FAR more interesting players. They might not equal Gilbert's NOTES-PER-SECOND quotient, but they are both light years beyond Paul Gilbert melodically and harmonically.
64 | justdanny Sat, May 30, 2009 4:12:45am |
re: #62 negativ
I totally agree wih your assessment of Vai. In my book he sits at the top near Hendrix, Van Halen, Vaughn, Beck, and others that rubbed the varnish off it. And I agree that Gilbert doesnt stand up near the top. But he's cool because he's having fun and doing good. Im sure I dont need to remind you of the taste thing. Its all good.

Aaaah good old shreds :)
I guess I'm being closeminded but for me - nothing can beat a nice shred.

I enjoyed that. Not just musically, I also thought the video presentation was outstanding.
