Gross Irony of the Day: Donald Trump Calls Ted Cruz an “Anchor Baby”

Now he’s spewing bigotry at the other candidates
Politics • Views: 58,075

Remember when all the GOP candidates were racing to the bottom to match Donald Trump’s bigotry, after Trump defiantly refused to stop using the blatantly offensive slur “anchor babies?”

Well, now the Trumpenstein is hauling out this racially-charged slur again, but this time he’s flinging it at one of the other GOP candidates: Trump: Cruz is an ‘anchor baby.’

“Ted Cruz may not be a U.S. citizen,” Trump said at a town hall in New Hampshire.

“Ted Cruz is an anchor baby in Canada, but Canada doesn’t accept anchor babies.”

The term “anchor babies” has been used by Trump and others to describe the children of parents who came to America so that their child could be a U.S. citizen by birth.

Trump faced significant criticism over the summer for using the term in his call to seal the borders but has doubled down and said he’ll continue to use the word.

NOTHING is giving me more pleasure than seeing Trump annihilating that TexAssHole Kochsucker! And this is going just like I predicted it would a couple weeks ago! He’s going full birther on the TexAssHole. Seems that the rank and file want to see L’il Rafael’s DS-2909.

Steve King may spin that all he wants but it’s going to bite him in his ass as well!

For me, this is payback for that asshole shutting down the government in 2013 and forcing me to work 19 days without getting paid.

Oh, I’ll feel sooooo goooood Monday night if the TexAssHole comes in 3rd behind Trump and Rubio in Iowa!

OFFICIAL CALL TO ACTION

Update: January 29, 2016

In light of the events that have taken place in Harney County, Oregon over the last two days, the official Pacific Patriots Network statement is as follows:

PPN condemns the violent action taken by the Harney County Sheriff’s Department along with the FBI in the shooting death of Mr. Lavoy Finicum.

PPN condemns the violent action taken by the Harney County Sheriff’s Department along with the FBI in the execution of arrests associated with the people at the Malhuer National Wildlife Refuge occupation.

PPN condemns the DISHONEST tactics used to arrest Jason Patrick on January 28th. Mr. Patrick’s safety, well being and emotional state were compromised when the FBI lied not only to Mr. Patrick but to PPN representatives trying to assist with the PEACEFUL removal of people at the MNWR. The FBI stated to Mr. Patrick and the PPN that he was “free to go.” Mr. Patrick walked 7 miles in sub freezing temperatures only to be arrested at the checkpoint north of the Narrows.

PPN condemns the false statements given to the public by the FBI, Harney County Sheriff’s Department and the Harney County officials.
IN RESPONSE TO THESE EVENTS, PACIFIC PATRIOTS NETWORK
IS ISSUING A
CALL TO ACTION

Calling on any and all Americans to come to Burns, Oregon to come to the aid of the American people standing against these violent, malicious and deceitful tactics. Come stand together with other Americans, and express our Constitutional right to PEACEFULLY assemble and air our grievances.

This operation will demand the following:

- Immediate detention by Oregon State Police of the FBI special agent in charge along with all agents and LEO involved in the shooting death of Lavoy Finicum. A first hand eyewitness account presents reasonable cause for arrest while the investigation takes place.

- Immediate removal of all militarized FBI personnel and equipment from Harney County. All State and County Law Enforcement officers are not included and requested to stay and assist in the process to keep the peace.

- Immediate resignation of Judge Steve Grasty, Sheriff David Ward, County commissioner Pete Runnels, and County commissioner Dan Nichols.

In order to successfully accomplish our mission, we will need any and all Americans to PEACEFULLY assemble within Burns, Oregon immediately. The success of this mission depends fully on the number of people that will come to PEACEFULLY stand and demand the items above be initiated.

A letter of intent will be legally served on the FBI special agent in charge at the time of Lavoy Finicum’s death, Judge Steven Grasty, Sheriff David Ward, Dan Nichols and Pete Runnels by January 29th, 2016. We will request to escort the FBI presence out of Harney County, Oregon and once complete, the attention will return to the resignation of the County elected officials.

PPN is dedicated to a PEACEFUL operation. If you have any ill intent, please do not come. We do not need you. Please come prepared with civilian attire and adhere to the policy of no long guns within the community.*that ought to do it…LOL*

Please come self sufficient and able to care for yourself for the time you plan to stay. Donations arrive daily but they are not sustainable for a large or lengthy contingency.

We ask that you email us at volunteer@pacificpatriotsnetwork.comg if and when you are planning to come and stand in Burns, Oregon

Lately though Joke Scarborough has been tonguing “Donald” so much I can only go a couple of minutes because it is not fun watching Joke act like a 12 year old teen girl seeing Justin Bieber for the first time.

This morning it was sickening. He was totally blown away by Trump’s gig last night, glowing about watching his plane coming is, his entrance, etc.

And then he got into mentioning in one of his talks with “Donald” Mr. Lump told him that if he gets the GOP nomination he will be swinging to the center in the general election.

Good fucking luck with that. Trump has been so extreme he has the extremists pulling for him like Mitt Romney and John McCain could only wish. There is no way the base he has turned on will stick with him if he goes center…in fact they may just turn on him.

Maybe my prediction of wild times in Cleveland this summer is really going to be true. Look out Republicans and look out Cleveland.

The actual choice is formalized by a vote of state delegates at the national party conventions next summer. The primaries and caucuses are technically about selecting the delegates who will represent each state party at the convention. Each candidate has a slate of delegates who are pledged to support that candidate at the convention. In practice, primary voters simply select the candidate they want to be the nominee.

Speaking of conventions, the GOP has moved its Cleveland convention up to July partly to avoid a conflict with the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. In that enlightened country, the authorities will mobilize a security force of 200,000 for the event. Most will be armed. These come from all branches of the armed forces (including the air force), the military police (state troops in Brazil), private contractors, and every other security organization available to the state including some newly created ones. To the best of my knowledge, Brazil resident Glenn Greenwald has said nothing about this overwhelming display, nor has he commented on the increasing frequency of military police sweeps through the local favelas.

With the Brazilian economy in a total death spiral, look for widespread civil unrest building throughout the spring. Most people don’t realize that Brazil was under a military dictatorship until the late 80s … and they may be headed that way again.

It’s painful for me to acknowledge that there are times when the political corruption and dysfunction on LatAm countries periodically gets so damn bad that the local populace is actually in favor of military coups. Because the military is seen as the one institution that attracts and retains men who have a sense of honor and pride, and who aren’t perverted kleptocrats, lazing about their pools with their big-boobed mistresses, and funnelling billions to their Swiss bank accounts.

Of course, after a few years of hard-ass dicatatorship, with summary field executions for petty crimes (such as the routine embezzling of tax revenues), the economy generally improves, and people start wanting their freedom of speech back. And so the cycle begins again.

A while back I read that there were real concerns about safety for some of the water sports events in the Rio games. Since everything in Rio that isn’t a wealthy enclave is basically an open sewer (more blessings of feral capitalism in action), it turns out to be rather difficult to avoid E. coli and worse in the venues. Chlorinating the hell out of the swimming pools probably won’t work for the boat races.

re: #60 EPR-radar

“Concerns” is putting it mildly - the article I read was horrifying. Apparently they don’t treat their sewage at all, and pretty much everybody who wasn’t raised there was getting infections after swimming in the practice courses. The levels of critters in the water were something like tens of thousands of times higher than even our standards permit. It was enough to put me off of ever visiting Brazil.

Edit: found the article I read. Even if it’s sensationalist propaganda, it’s still stomach-churning.

So this happened tonight in my town…

One person was arrested in connection with the incident, and several persons were arrested.

- There were gangs that were masked and wore black clothes, they had pieces of wood in his hands and the guards came after them. They ran towards Sergelgatan, says a witness.

On Friday night, there has been unrest around the center of Stockholm. Many young people are in motion, and the police are in place with several patrols.

Grandkid’s kindergarten had a great idea. It’s their hundredth day, so teach said every kid should dress up like a hundred-year-old fogy. Y’know, ‘cause that’s what it feels like. So 15 groggy 5-year-old boys pile out of the cars with grayed hair and canes, and sticks.

Scene shifts to the 3PM pickup line, where the substitute teacher hands back the battered kid with his broken ‘walking stick’.

Mom: “I didn’t think that was a good idea.”

Some good news for Hillary, Obama is nearly above water in the RCP average of his approval rating. Now if gasoline stays dirt cheap and unemployment drops below 5% this Summer, he could be over 50% on election day! Kind of puts a damper on the GOP campaign to “fix the damage.”

I haven’t been following too much mainstream coverage of this, but is everyone still refusing to identify Snyder’s emergency manager (and the law that put him place) as the main culprit?

This just makes me so furious and sick, I want to go to Michigan to personally spit on Rick Snyder.

Out of over 270 pages of communications released, one comment was stunning in its admission of how shabbily complaints over the water were treated by state workers.

According to the NY Times, Snyder was informed in one email that a state nurse told one young mother to not worry about the damage being done to her child when her son’s blood showed an elevated lead level.

“It is just a few IQ points. … It is not the end of the world,” the nurse reportedly told the worried mom.

You really start to wonder about the motivations for Snyder et al. in this mess.

Weakening the Detroit Water system by taking away Flint as a customer as a prelude to privatizing it for the benefit of Snyder’s rich cronies is a plausible motivation, and is still my pick as the most likely motive.

But the GOP in general and Snyder in particular are so bad that comic-book super villain motives are in-character. For example, perhaps the GOP is displeased by the overall decrease in crime rates because it weakens the appeal of their over the top fear-based law and order crap. Deliberately inducing lead poisoning is a perfect antidote to that, especially if done in heavily minority areas. About the only thing that make this implausible is that the long-range planning involved is unrealistic.

It doesnt to me. I really wanted to like him, hell I still do. I like his ideas and positions. I’m enough of a realist to know the scope of change he wants is unrealistic, but I was still happy for him to forcefully lay out positions that are think should be aspirational, and maybe move the narrative left a bit.

I still like Hillary, I think her reputation is based on 30 years of republican framing that everyone left or right now have stuck in their heads, but I wanted Bernie to be an if not viable alternative, then one who deserved a second look.

The last few weeks have burst that bubble for me. No MBF bs, but he does appear to be like the rest.

Look at the gun liability issue. He could have owned it. Just say the People who voted for me wanted it, that’s my job for good or bad. He didn’t, just fudged it a bit. I don’t expect perfection, but I do like a bit of consistency. If he sells himself on doing the right thing whatever the political cost, then he should. All he’s done is label himself as the same of the rest, which is as far from his ni age as it could be.

I do not get where Obama gets a pass. Every election the outgoing guys policies get raked over the coals. TPP is a legit worry. He spoke the truth as he sees it.

I’m not giving Obama a pass. I’m talking optics for THE PARTY; for taking back state governments and congressional seats.

TPP was smart. It gives us control over our IP in our terms. It was beneficial to our interests.

What ticks me off is that you can’t force manufacturing back to the US. that’s how the TPP is being positioned, that it’s bad for blue collar workers. What’s bad for blue collar workers is wanting more than $20 bucks a week for labor - globalization. And that’s simply not going to stop.

You can’t protect the US (import tariffs) without actual harm to our workers (export tariffs).

It can happen here: Trumpism, Franklin Graham, and respectable white evangelicalism

This is, for those white evangelical gatekeepers, “something that’s very new, very strange.” They have spent decades vigilantly patrolling the tribe’s “liberal” political boundary while ensuring all along that it doesn’t have any boundary on the far right. People like Rich Cizik or Rachel Held Evans or Matthew Vines have been swiftly anathematized, but all along people like Phyllis Schlafly, James Dobson, Bryan Fisher, Franklin Graham, The Liar Tony Perkins, Jerry Falwell, and Richard Land have remained as family members in good standing.

Why does that put you in a tough spot? Hillary is far from perfect but I’d walk over broken glass to vote for her in this election. If she’s the best representative of your views in that poll, it doesn’t seem like it should be a hard choice.

Minneapolis’ first 70’s style punk band (as compared to the zillions of great 60’s garage bands from the area). I think the guy who put this video together went on to make Devo’s videos.

Cool. A friend of mine who went to St. John’s had a band that lived in Minneapolis and played lots of gigs in the Twin Cities in the ’80s; he also worked at Northern Lights for a couple of years. The were called Big and Scary.

End of January blues? Holiday love hangover? I’m not a young cat, I should have noticed this trend before.

Northern Lights was a great music store. Great band name but I don’t remember them. Were they late 80’s? I quit drinking in ‘84 so I went out a lot less and lost track of local music. Does your friend remember a band called Fine Art? (yes, we knew the name was pretentious)

The NY Times has a profile of MoFo and their involvement with the NAF lawsuit. I didn’t know they took the case pro bono.

Anyone know where the lawsuit stands at the moment?

I think they were active in ‘86-‘88. I’ll ask if he knows Fine Art (there’s no such thing as a pretentious name). I visited him the summer after I graduated in ‘87. We walked to a bar and saw Alex Chilton. The next night we went downtown to the big bar where Prince filmed those scenes with The Time (can’t remember the name) and saw a local legend. But I was drinking. I know it wasn’t The Replacements, but I can’t remember.

Actually, I went there a couple of years before. My brother went to Macalaster’s Theater program. He lived with a bunch of people in a big, old drafty house in St. Paul. He had a job as a cake maker at a nice restaurant/bakery. I got there on Dec. 31 (during my own winter break). The house was empty and cold. No TV. Nothing. I called him: “yeah, I’m just about off work; get a cab and meet us at…..” There were no cabs on a cold and snowy New Years Eve. There was no champagne or beer or anything of cheer in their big old house. I found a blanket and seethed into the New Year. Anger kept me warm.

It’s the time. Holidays are over, we’re in a dead zone between a big celebration and valentine’s day (which is a downer day for many people)… Holiday bills due, taxes, cold weather dampening social life, darkness, loss of momentum from new years, car registration and insurance policies all renewing, pets are getting sick, and companies are doing new year budget trims and post-holiday layoffs. January/February sucks.

I get the hardest seasonal depression not long after the time change. Mine was really bad this year… I just did not give a fuck. I ate ice cream and cake like I was trying to destroy myself. I put on something like 10 pounds BEYOND my already expected year-end gain. I’m on the way to 40 and my body is definitely telling me it’s going to kill me if I keep doing this. Texas is really killing me. Or at least, making it easier to destroy myself.

Catch the bad tendencies while young and have a coping strategy in place, says I.

Isn’t that just par for the course when it comes to naval scenarios in the Persian Gulf? ISTR that the Navy has run numerous “fleet problems” over the years to deal with possible hostilities vs. Iran, and in general, despite a supposed “overwhelming” force superiority, it comes out a draw as often as not.
That this should prove true vs. the USN’s newest wonder-ships, USS Boondoggle, and its sister ship USS Porkbarrel shouldn’t be a surprise: the LCS project(s) long predate the Obama (or even Bush 43) Administrations: in their main mission (bolstering the MIC bottom line) they have been a smashing success: for warfare at sea: not so much.

My approach is just to keep moving forward. I keep myself as busy as I can and don’t allow myself to disappear into my own head. Seems to work for me.

Heh. Living in East Claire WI we would drive up to go to northern lights and catch a show. Replacements, Husker Dutch, and so. Many more.

Do you remember (heh, sorry couldn’t resist) the Urban Guerrillas? Still love their music decades later.
