Letra

Pajarito colibrí, no tengas miedo salir
Hoy el mundo quiere que despiertes para ser feliz
Pajarito colibrí, no tengas miedo vivir

Plus Mitt has been silently sitting on his hands the past 7-8 years rather than actively trying to do something about it. And occasionally tossing out the “Oh woe is me!” whine when Trump makes the GQP look bad to the electorate and media actually show signs of noticing it.

“Absolute immunity” sounds like something out of Marvel comics.

It sucks how something that never existed like “absolute immunity ” is tossed around by spy45 and is forced to be litigated through the courts.

Mitt Romney happily accepted President Donald Trump’s endorsement of his run for a US Senate seat in Utah on Monday. Apparently, he’s gotten past the president’s comments about the KKK, Muslims, Mexicans, and people with disabilities from 2016 — comments that two years ago he said would make him reject Trump’s endorsements.

For my entire lifetime, they have used anti-semitic material as the basis for cynical moral panics: nobody can disagree with them, or just be weird, without being part of a malevolent, depraved other.

Their homophobia. Their Islamophobia. Their accusations towards liberals. Their accusations toward Jews that weren’t conservative.

All of these things have derived their rhetorical force from established anti-semitic conspiracies. They’re sorry there’s expliciit anti-semitism but can’t back away from Rothschilds and The Frankfort School and “Cultural Marxism.”

Maybe there intention was to just…borrow conspiracy theories about Jews for the weekened to go to a concert…but they flooded their media sources with material that immediately pointed towards anti-semitic material. Build your moral panic from John Birch materials that were cladded over Nazi materials; import LaRouche talking points; pay no attention to who Ron Paul is citing.

They’re not going stop, either. It is necessary to their political objects to veer as close to outright anti-Semitism as possible: they have to posit an alien within society that will invert the natural order because they have to explain their failures and their vices.

Elon’s total stake in Tesla is projected to be somewhere between 10%-15% from the last data I can see. It may be possible to have him forced out if the business takes a dump and the shareholders decide they’ve simply had enough of Musk.

His share of the company has fallen steadily over the last few years. This Twitter debacle may force him to seek even more funds from Tesla stock sales just to keep the lights on for what is simply now his own personal $44 Billion Nazi-friendly megaphone.

Vehicle at my building, which I guess can be electric, does have an artificial sound with it that is not standard ICE or the dead quiet like I’ve seen a Prius be. I guess it could be made simply to help with awareness there is a moving vehicle there.

“…In the US and Europe, electric and hybrid vehicles with gross vehicle weight ratings up to 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) are required to emit a sound when operating at speeds below 30 kilometers per hour (approximately 20 miles per hour).

Currently, most EVs emit the same robotic hum when operating at low speeds. And NHTSA says that’s fine, just so long as it doesn’t add a bunch of additional sounds that owners can select. Basically, the agency says it wants to prevent a situation where you have tens of thousands of EVs on the road making all sorts of musical sounds or bird noises — or fart sounds, for that matter. (Tesla, I’m looking at you.)”

Lee Atwater: You start out in 1954 by saying, “N*****, ……..” By 1968 you can’t say “n*****”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites…. “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “N***** n*****.”

Elon: “guess what, it’s 1954 again on Twitter!”

The nursery rhyme book features characters in drag, and was read aloud during a library-sponsored story time over the summer.

“I’m not here to ask for a ban on any books,” said resident Rahila Siddiqui. “I’m here to fight for my right to choose when my elementary school children should be exposed to complicated topics like drag queens.”

“If parents prefer their children not read a book, that’s their decision. But that does not give them the right to impose their short-sighted beliefs on anyone else’s children,” said Susan Ginsburg, Lincolnwood resident.

After reviewing the book, library officials declined to remove it from the children’s department. The library director told ABC7 such action would constitute censorship, adding, “Our goal is to respect everyone in our community and what they want to read.”

“When you’re at Macy’s and you don’t like a purple shirt, you can’t demand that they take it away. Just don’t buy it,” said Judy Abelson, Lincolnwood resident.

Kanye West stormed off from a podcast interview after the host challenged his negative views on Jewish people … and it’s all on video.

Ye went on Tim Pool’s podcast Monday, where he was joined by radical right-wing extremist Milo Yiannopoulos and controversial and proud white nationalist Nick Fuentes … and it didn’t take long for the conversation to get uncomfortable.

Kanye starts railing on the Jews and after a few minutes of ranting, Tim starts to push back in the slightest way … and that’s all it takes for Ye to hop out of his chair and bolt for the exit.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Five Connecticut police officers were charged Monday with cruelly neglecting a Black man after he was partially paralyzed in the back of a police van, despite his repeated and desperate pleas for help.

Randy Cox, 36, was being driven to a New Haven police station June 19 for processing on a weapons charge when the driver braked hard at an intersection to avoid a collision, causing Cox to fly headfirst into a metal partition in the van.

Baltimore 2015… Philadelphia used to also be known for it.

On April 12, 2015, Freddie Carlos Gray Jr., a 25-year-old African American, was arrested by the Baltimore Police Department over his legal possession of a knife. While being transported in a police van, Gray sustained injuries and was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Gray died on April 19, 2015; his death was ascribed to injuries to his spinal cord.

On April 21, 2015, pending an investigation of the incident, six Baltimore police officers were suspended. The circumstances of the injuries were initially unclear; eyewitness accounts suggested that the officers involved used unnecessary force against Gray during the arrest—a claim denied by all officers involved. Commissioner Anthony W. Batts reported that, contrary to department policy, the officers did not secure Gray inside the van while driving to the police station; this policy had been put into effect six days prior to Gray’s arrest, following review of other transport-related injuries sustained during police custody in the city, and elsewhere in the country during the preceding years. The medical investigation found that Gray had sustained the injuries while in transport. The medical examiner’s office concluded that Gray’s death could not be ruled an accident, and was instead a homicide, because officers failed to follow safety procedures “through acts of omission”.. On May 1, 2015, the Baltimore City State’s Attorney, Marilyn Mosby, announced her office had filed charges against six police officers after the medical examiner’s report ruled Gray’s death a homicide..

The problem is that for reactionaries antisemitism is just always in a glass case next to a mallet: In Case Conventional Racism is Ineffective. It solves the problem of their shit not working. All their “traditional” subcomponents point toward it: Christianity, nationalism, the kind of paranoia-informed economics and foreign policy that fears intellectuals.

Let’s say deSantis wins the primary because Trump is now daubed with sweaty embarrassing Nazism: the underlying antisemitism is still there, still part of the back room conversations, awaiting the next moment that it’s useful as a tactic.

I’ve only been in the back of a police van once, and it was so long ago my memory is very fuzzy, but I think I was just on a metal bench facing sideways while cuffed.
Seatbelt laws would have been very new at the time.

They don’t have seatbelts in my area as recently as 2012. No, I wasn’t in one, I worked for a city.

Dr. Oz’s former producers who worked on his longtime talk show are refusing to talk to him after his failed run for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, radaronline.com has learned.

As radaronline.com first reported, Oz has been desperately attempting to plot a television comeback after losing his race to democratic rival John Fetterman. Oz pulled in 2.4 million votes compared to Fetterman’s 2.7 million.

“No one in the mainstream will touch him,” a source told radaronline.com. “You can’t alienate half of your audience with a political stance and expect to bring in an audience on your return to television,” the source added.

We’re told that Oz had impressed execs at Fox News and Newsmax but no firm offers materialized. Oz is expected to return in cameo roles on the right-wing networks.

However, sources said Oz wants his own show back telling us, “But it is not what he wants. He wants a daily gig. But it is not going to happen.”

Another source said, “He’s beating the bushes to revive his health-oriented talk show and groveling to everyone he knows to give him a break, but he’s not making much progress.”

They will simply say that the Dems did it too, and with worse actors, and are against Israel.

Here’s a website that unfortunately mirrors the views of many an ex-Soviet Jewish emigrant:

judeochristianamerica.org

The only difference between the views of such far-right types and the average white supremacist is their pro-Zionism and an anti-antisemitic stance (which they mostly equate with anti-leftism, thus actually repeating antisemitic memes by simply shifting the focus on the “left-wing Jews” — I read that something like this also happens in Israel). (They are also often pro-Ukraine and desperately argue against the right supporting Putin lol).

Comedians Charlie Brill and Mitzi McCall? IIRC, they had to rush through their routine because the studio audience were so damned hyped up to see the Beatles that they had become loud and unruly. To geeks, Brill is perhaps most noted for guesting on STAR TREK as surgically altered Klingon spy Arne Darvin in “The Trouble With Tribbles.”

Also on the Sullivan show that night was young Davy Jones, later with the Monkees, doing a number from OLIVER! with that musical’s leading lady.

Half-Staff Notice, entire United States:

Representative Donald McEachim (D-VA4) passed away.

Democratic Rep. Donald McEachin Dead At 61 (Huffington Post)

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Rep. A. Donald McEachin, D-Va., died Monday after a battle with colorectal cancer, his office said. He was 61.

Tara Rountree, McEachin’s chief of staff, said in a statement late Monday: “Valiantly, for years now, we have watched him fight and triumph over the secondary effects of his colorectal cancer from 2013. Tonight, he lost that battle.”

McEachin represented Virginia’s 4th Congressional District, which includes part of Richmond and extends south to the North Carolina border. He was reelected to a fourth term earlier this month.

In accordance with the US Flag Code, for a sitting Representative the flag of the United States shall be placed at half-staff on the day of death and day after. His desk in the House of Representatives shall be draped in black.

The Commonwealth of Virginia will have to schedule a special election at a later date.

As of yet, the White House nor Governor Youngkin of Virginia have released statements.

The Washington Times is lamenting the outcome of state legislative elections (and misrepresenting what a humanist is).

America’s atheists and humanists increasingly joining the ranks of lawmakers in state capitals (November 28, 2022)

Y’all missed the metric fuquetonne of atheists elected to county or city governments (raises hand).

Opening shot across the bow in the lede:

More and more elected officials in the U.S. disagree with the national motto “In God We Trust.”

I much prefer E Pluribus Unum myself. The anticommunist Christian dog whistle adopted just before I was born is exclusive by design.

The number of people who identify as atheists or humanists is increasing among members of state legislatures and in Congress, according to the Center for Freethought Equality, an advocacy group that supports the trend.

“We’re a sizable part of the population now, and representation is key. You want to see people like yourself in elected office, and also by having people in elected office, it helps remove that lingering bias against our community,” said Ron Millar, the group’s political coordinator.

“When we’re dealing with climate change and social issues, people are really looking for evidence-based public policy and sort of discarding the various beliefs that are put forward, especially by conservative, religious folks,” he said.

The Nov. 8 midterm elections marked strong gains for atheists and humanists. Humanists believe human beings evolved naturally rather than being created by God.

And there’s the misdefinition of a humanist.

Humanism is a philosophical stance that emphasizes the individual and social potential and agency of human beings. It considers human beings the starting point for serious moral and philosophical inquiry.

This in no way repudiates, refutes, nor excludes religious belief. There are plenty of religious people who are humanists.

The border is so wide open that apprehensions are treated as though the border is open.

It’s de facto proof that you can’t simply waltz in to the US (though that would be far more stylish than slinking in).

The GOP is a nonstop agitprop machine that pumps out white nationalist claptrap.

Why do they want to stop immigration - all of it? They want to stop asylum. That’s legal immigration btw. They want to stop all immigration if it involves nonwhites and non Christians specifically. If you’re not white and not Christian, you have no place here according to the GOP.

That’s at the very heart of the GOP messaging and policy objectives. They want a white nationalist fascist state, and immigration policy is where this is most clearly stated.

These fucking fascists are more than happy to associate with goddamned Nazis and other white nationalists and supremacists, because that’s who the base is and what the party represents - all while grifting these same people by stripping them of the safety net so that rich people can get richer and everyone else gets fooked.

It’s still dark and snowing, but the sun will be rising soon. I’m going to skeedaddle off to bed.

Catch y’all later.

WOMP WOMP MUTHAFUCKA

He can start borrowing Kevin Sorbo tweets about how liberal Hollywood is blackballing him since they are jealous of his talents. And put in appearances saying same on Fox and Newsmax.

Nope, will have to do it the old fashioned way:

So the numbers behind the “England isn’t a Christian country” griping don’t show that followers of non-Christian religions are somehow now the majority (except for Muslims, the percentages have barely changed in a decade), but that the drop-off in “Christian” identification is due -seemingly - to a major shift to the “No religion” category?

Seems logical.

Twitter told me that tweet was a Photoshop. Tim Cook hasn’t tweeted since 11/24.

It’d still be funny if Mush suspended Cook’s account anyways on a photo edit.

Because that would once again confirm beyond all doubt how thin skinned Mush is.

That would be beyond hilarious. Especially because at this point, we all know Elon the Magnificent is a big enough idiot to actually take it seriously.

I’d worry, if I were that guy: those women look like the first thing they want to do with their towels is to tie them into nooses…..

I mean, “So sorry for your loss. But look - here’s some new towels! Hooray!” is beyond insulting. If that guy ended up being strangled with one of those very same towels by some enraged Russian mother, it’d be pretty close to justifiable homicide.

Our brother detests Putin, supports Ukraine, and refuses to acknowledge that Trump is on Putin’s side. As I’ve said before, he’s like the Westworld characters who said that “doesn’t look like anything to me” whenever confronted with Trump’s admiration for Putin.

A passing of note:

Clarence Gilyard, a film and TV star who cherished his role as a UNLV theater professor, has died. He was 66. UNLV’s College of Fine Arts announced Gilyard’s death in a news release Monday afternoon.

Gilyard had been suffering from a long illness. No further details are yet available.

Gilyard was a UNLV Department of Film professor since 2006. By then, he was a well-established television, film and theater professional for more than 30 years.

Gilyard was famous for his role as computer-terror expert Theo in the 1988 thriller “Die Hard.” For 13 years, he was on prime time, network TV on “Matlock,” portraying Andy Griffith’s private investigator, Conrad McMasters; then as Jimmy Trivette on “Walker, Texas Ranger,” opposite Chuck Norris.

He was a good actor. RIP.

One of my favorite Xmas movies - watch it almost every year. Neighbor made us shirts that read ‘Yippee-ki-yay, melon farmer!’ during the pandemic after she saw that was how they dubbed ‘motherfucker’ for the TV version.
