Madison City Council: Solidarity with Hamas
The City Council of Madison Wisconsin is considering a proposal to become a “Sister City” with the town of Rafah in the Gaza Strip: Madison-Rafah Sister City Project. (Hat tip: Stefan Sharkansky.)
The resolution states:
WHEREAS, a sister city relationship between the City of Madison and Rafah would foster deeper understanding of the traditions, values and cultural heritages among citizens of both cities; and
WHEREAS, the mission statement of the municipal government in Rafah reflects a democratic vision that corresponds to the values of Madison’s political leadership, namely to “provide leadership and work with all of the citizens, existing neighborhood communities, all levels of government and international aid donors to build efficient, effective and participatory local government, deliver necessary services and make the vision of our people a reality”; and
WHEREAS, the communities of Madison and Rafah, despite many differences, share such common goals as developing green space, improving the environment, balancing urban growth with the preservation of farmland, and enhancing transportation networks…
The lunatics have taken over the Madison City Council. That “municipal government” in Rafah that “reflects a democratic vision” … is Hamas.
UPDATE: Madison is more than a year behind Rachel Corrie’s home town of Olympia, Washington, which became a sister city to Rafah in 2003, as reported by Pseudopsalms.
