Josh’s “Biggest Story” Fizzles
Please note this section in Matthew Klam’s left-wing lovefest about bloggers at the Democratic Convention in Boston, in which Klam describes an overjoyed Joshua Micah Marshall crowing about the biggest story of his life: Fear and Laptops on the Campaign Trail. (Hat tip: The Monster.)
But no Josh Marshall.
I ran into him later on in the press stands, to the right of the stage, where he had set up shop, squatting at a spot designated for an official news organization in the coveted blue section. He was fiddling with his computer and finishing a cellphone call about what he called “the biggest story of my life,” one that would quell any fears about his legitimacy as a real journalist, at least for a while.
Marshall was almost certainly talking about the story just canceled by CBS News, a story in which he was deeply involved. Josh and Mary and Danny and CBS thought they had another bombshell to wreck the Bush campaign—until the first one exploded in their faces.
