Palestinian Prisoner Charade
Israel released 500 Palestinian prisoners today, and they were promptly hailed as heroes.
Farha al-Diq said it was the happiest day of her life as she set eyes on two of her sons for the first time in several years.
“I haven’t tasted joy for four years,” said the 43-year-old as she embraced her sons Rami and Mohammed.
“I have never nown such a happy occasion. I hope that peace will prevail and that all the mothers of prisoners will be as happy as I am today.”
Mohammed stressed that the release of all the 7,600 Palestinian prisoners was vital for the peace process.
“We won’t have peace in the region unless all the prisoners are released with dsicrimination [sic], especially those serving life sentences,” added Mohammed, a follower of the leftist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, who had served four years of a seven-year sentence.
Cynical skeptics might conclude that releasing thousands of violent terrorists who have killed and maimed innocents isn’t the optimum way to achieve peace. But I’m sure Mohammed knows best.
