What’s Wrong with Marine Brass?

Why is the Marine Corps repeating and caving in to the lies of the Council on American Islamic Relations, without putting up even a token defense of the Marines being smeared? Corps condemns video mockery.

The four-minute video contains images of what is said to be a Marine in Iraq singing a song that seems to glorify killing an Iraqi young girl. The video was removed from the site on which it was posted and where more than 50,000 people viewed it, according to the Council on Islamic Relations, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group.

According to CAIR, the song’s lyrics include the lines: “I grabbed her little sister and put her in front of me. As the bullets began to fly, the blood sprayed from between her eyes, and then I laughed maniacally … I blew those little [expletive] to eternity. They should have known they were [expletive] with Marines.”

The video’s title, apparently misspelled as “Hadji Girl,” refers to a Haji, or wise person, who has traveled to Mecca. Many U.S. military members refer to all Iraqis as Haji, either neutrally or pejoratively.

Nihad Awad, executive director of CAIR, said military officials and Congress should investigate the video.

“The inappropriate actions of a few individuals should not be allowed to tarnish the reputation of all American military personnel,” Awad said in a written statement.

The description of the video in this article is a lie, straight from the mouth of CAIR. See for yourself: Mainstream Media Disgrace of the Month: Hadji Girl.

In a 1994 speech at Florida’s Barry University, Nihad Awad stated, “I am in support of the Hamas movement.” At the risk of repeating myself, why is the Marine Corps letting this man and his radical Islamic front group get away with smearing US troops?

It’s even worse than I thought. Michelle Malkin writes about the case of the Camp Pendleton 8.

Did you know there are seven young Marines and a Navy corpsman sitting in a military brig right now in leg and wrist shackles — despite the fact that they’ve not been charged with any crime?

The men are in solitary confinement, locked in 8’x8’ cells at San Diego’s Camp Pendleton, as investigators probe an April 26 incident involving the 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment, 1st Marine Division. They are behind bars 23 hours a day; family members can only see them through inch-thick Plexiglas. Military blabbermouths have told the press that the service members are suspected of kidnapping and shooting a man in the Iraqi town of Hamdaniya. The Iraqi man’s family reportedly came forward seeking payment for his death as media hysteria set in over the separate alleged atrocity in Haditha.

These men — our men — may be innocent. They may be guilty. Charges may or may not be filed this week. But this much is certain: The media leaks and the Murtha-fication of the case are already taking a heavy toll on the troops and their families.

UPDATE at 6/14/06 8:26:37 am:

CAIR’s lies about the “Hadji Girl” video are spreading around the world; the same distorted, false story is at Italy’s Corriere della Sera: ‘Uccidi l’irachena’, video-scandalo sul web. (Hat tip: Poitiers-Lepanto.)

Our friends the Saudis are also running with the Big Lie at Arab News: Marine Glorifies Child Killings.

WASHINGTON, 14 June 2006 — An Internet video showing a Marine singing a song glorifying the killing of Iraqi children was condemned yesterday by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as “clearly inappropriate”.

This is what happens when no one in authority stands up for the troops. Disgusting.
