I’ve received several emails from readers about a near-riot by leftists and Islamists last night at George Mason University, where John Lewis was giving a speech on state-sponsored Islamic totalitarianism. Of course, there’s nothing in the media about it. If anyone has more detailed information, photos, or video, please contact me or leave a comment in this topic…

UPDATE at 4/25/07 9:10:56 am:

Here’s a report at The Rule of Reason:

I just got back tonight from Dr. John Lewis’ lecture on state-sponsored Islamic-Totalitarianism at George Mason University. There were countless police officers around the building providing security. Needless to say an entire mob mentality broke out as “demonstrators” in the audience disrupted the entire event. Islamofacist groups and their Marxist dhimmi associates hurled invectives, howled, and spat as if in a possessed frenzy. The professor and his supporters, much to their credit, behaved with complete restraint and respect for different viewpoints during the Q&A session. The same absolutely cannot be said of his opponents. So much for tolerance and diversity. Their attempts to disrupt and shut down the talk were a disrespectful, uncivilized display of hate that supported the argument that you cannot reason with or appease this kind of enemy.

UPDATE at 4/25/07 9:15:06 am:

The Washington Post’s report says it was no big deal.

About 300 people, including some protesters, filled a George Mason University auditorium last night for a lecture by a controversial teacher at an Ohio college who has called for war against Iran.

John Lewis, an assistant professor at Ashland University, spoke without serious disruption, according to a campus spokesman. An earlier appearance had been canceled after Muslim students complained, but the invitation was renewed by the College Republicans, the spokesman said.

During the presentation, some in the audience stood with their backs turned, and a few jeered. When invited to ask questions, audience members who voiced opposition to the speaker drew cheers, university spokesman Dan Walsch said. He called the event “for the most part pretty orderly.”

If it can be conceived as music, it can be executed as music, and presented to an audience in such a way that they will perceive it as music: "Look at this. Ever seen one of these before? I built this for you. What do you mean, 'What the f*ck is it?' It's a goddam ETUDE, asshole."
