Is Keith Ellison a Truther?

Speaking to an audience of atheists and 9/11 conspiracy nuts, Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison compared the 9/11 terror attacks to the Reichstag fire, in a talking point straight out of the Troofer “movement:” Atheists applaud Ellison’s views on Cheney, Libby, 9/11.

We now have a sitting Congressman openly making “Bush=Hitler” comparisons.

And Ellison hinted broadly that he agrees with Truther conspiracy theories. He says he just can’t admit it for political reasons.

On comparing Sept. 11 to the burning of the Reichstag building in Nazi Germany: “It’s almost like the Reichstag fire, kind of reminds me of that. After the Reichstag was burned, they blamed the Communists for it and it put the leader of that country [Hitler] in a position where he could basically have authority to do whatever he wanted. The fact is that I’m not saying [Sept. 11] was a [U.S.] plan, or anything like that because, you know, that’s how they put you in the nut-ball box — dismiss you.”

UPDATE at 7/9/07 11:02:27 am:

Republican Alan Fine, who ran against Keith Ellison, responds to this outrageous statement at Minnesota Democrats Exposed.

Unfortunately, Democrats have used the forgetfulness of the American public for political gain by trying to convince the America public that 911 is ancient history, that the war in Iraq is Bush colonialism and that our country is a totalitarian nation. This rhetoric is repeated by liberal elements in the media all of which serves only to endanger our citizens at home and our troops abroad.

Keith Ellison is among the most extreme among Democrats in this regard. His rhetoric can be heard in the halls of states and organizations (like CAIR) that support the terrorists, who would like to rewrite history, and who would like to destroy our nation.

The comparisons that Keith Ellison draws between Bush and Hitler are shameful. I agree with Michael Brodkorb, to compare any American President to such a person is outrageous. As the son of a U.S. Airforce pilot who flew 22 missions fighting against Adolf Hitler, as an American, I am offended by these comments. George Bush’s father was also in the U.S. Airforce in World War II serving our nation against the evil Nazis.

Our nation is in a difficult situation in Iraq. Right now, we need to support our troops, work together for the betterment of our country, and work toward the stability of our world. More importantly, we need to recognize that this war has been thrust upon us, and that we must do whatever we can to win this war and protect our country. Respect our President and respect his efforts in trying to protect us. Realize that during times like these, he needs our support, our prayers and our help!

 Frank says:

Yes, Ladies and gentleman, even in this agricultural enviroment, We're gonna' play a love song -- This was about 1974 in Harrisburg Pa. at the Farm Show Arena, a week after the Farm show had left town... Frank never admitted to playing there, and I can't say as I blame him. But, I will never forget what a magical night that was.
