Daily Kos: 'Uncle Tom' Obama

Tue, Apr 29, 2008 at 9:52:54 pm PDT

Barack Obama’s repudiation of Jeremiah Wright didn’t go over well with many of the Kos Kids.

To say the least. Daily Kos: “Uncle Tom” Obama.

I have been a huge supporter of Barack. He is the guy I’ve been behind for quite awhile now. Check my older diaries if you wonder about that. And while I’ve been steeling myself for a Barack loss in November, because I think the Repug machine is too good for him to beat, I had resigned myself to still working hard for him and for the Progressive cause!

But today something changed for me...

Today, the scales fell from my eyes and I saw Barack Obama for what he truly is: a weak man and a standard politician. I really never thought I would say this...

But I am disgusted with him!

and then spoke up after he won the nomination so Obama would lose the general

8 Abu Maven  Tue, Apr 29, 2008 9:57:20pm

So being a "progressive" means supporting racism, believing that the US gov't is intentionally injecting AIDS into blacks, etc. And Sharpton also criticized Obama for not speaking out forcefully enough against the cop verdict in NYC also. Will Obama start to lose the radical left now? I tend to doubt it, but who knows.

I've been sayin' this since day one, before I could prove it. They wouldn't get into politics if they weren't ... politicians! There's a no brainer.

I hate the notion that as soon as any black man expresses an opinion outside the Run DNC groupthink mentality, he risks being slapped with the Uncle Tom label. Jeesh. I'm no fan of Obama's leftist ideology, but I say if he wants to throw Jeremiah under the bus, let him do it.

Love to hear Rev. Wright do 20 minutes on evolution. That would be entertaining.

22 stevieray  Tue, Apr 29, 2008 10:02:48pm

He is a weak man.

He strives to rise too quickly; he seeks out marxists for mentors; he craves legitimacy from 'authentic' black leaders; he has a zelig personality [i.e. tabla rasa]. Alone, these would not raise eyebrows, together they add up to deep-seated abandonment issues.

His quick rise is to prove his father wrong for leaving; his search for marxists and angry black men is a quest for his father; and his well practiced blank slate persona is subconsciously crafted to leave him ready to be whatever his absent father wants him to be upon his return.

The man is lost... how can he lead?

So now for the next step in Operation Chaos.

The Entropy Option. That is where we convince all of the Obamites that the Hillerites conspired with the conservatives vis a vis Rush Limbaugh to keep Obama and his followers down.

There is enough truth in that for the Nutroots and the Moonbats to go completely off the deep end with it, guaranteeing a redux of the 1968 riots when the Dems meet in Denver.

re: #13 BlueCanuck

We will have to see what happens in the rest of the primaries. (did I get that right? still partially confused by your system. :))

Theoretically, Clinton could sweep the remainder of the primaries and not catch Obama's lead in pledged delegates. But the Democrats in their epic stupidity decided that about 20% of the voting delegates to their convention will not have been selected by any vote of the people. Instead they are members of Congress, state governors, and other assorted party hacks. So now with things nearly tied, there aren't enough delegates left to be selected in the primaries to give either candidate the simple majority needed. So there's like 700 wild cards that will get to decide this thing.

What a system.

36 Last Mohican  Tue, Apr 29, 2008 10:12:57pm

Well, I guess Obama's latest speech left his supporters only two options to choose from:

(1) "What a brilliant, courageous, principled uniter of the people Obama is! Imagine, standing up for what he believes in like that, telling it like it is, keeping it real, even though doing so meant repudiating a man whom he respected and admired for 20 years. I'm so impressed by Obama's moral fortitude right now that I'll willing to overlook his failure to speak out against Wright's identical rantings for the past 20 years. I'm even willing to overlook the fact that Obama actually defended Reverend Wright's identical rantings just a few weeks ago, in Philadelphia. Because Obama is just THAT WONDERFUL."

(2) "That two-faced bastard. In my fantasies, I dreamt that Obama was the real deal, a radical leftist, whitey-hating class warrior who was finally going to stick it to the man from the highest office in the land. Finally, I thought, a candidate who shared the most extreme left-wing theories that I could dream up, and then shifted them three MORE notches to the left! Finally, I thought, a candidate who understood that the U.S. Government invented AIDS, that Israel and the Jews cause all wars, that the minds of white people are genetically inferior to those of black people. I imagined the hammer and sickle flying from the White House, and a burial at Arlington National Cemetery for Fidel Castro, complete with a full military parade down Pennsylvania Avenue. I imagined Louis Farrakhan as Secretary of Health and Human Services. But now I see that Obama is just like every other "mainstream" politician: a fascist right-wing oppressor. I feel betrayed. Now I shall have to search for someone farther to the left."

I suspect that most of Obama's supporters will break toward (1). This particular Kosling appears to have opted for (2).

But Obama supporters don't care about that. They think his repudiation is enough to keep him going. If Wright had played it a little cooler Obama wouldn't have been so quick to repudiate and in the meantime Wright could've said some more wacked out crazy talk (toned down just a little) all with Obama's approval. A heavier case could be brought against Obama in my scenario. I'm not saying he isn't sitting in a big pile of s*it right now, I'm just saying.

The Daily Kos is home of the lightnin fast mood swing. "The scales fell from his eyes!" oh brother, as if Obama was something other than just a politician. The ability of the left for self-dillusion is almost comical so for the writers sake let me cut his meat for him as follows:

1. Barack is a smart lawyer but he isn't a career attorney
2. He hangs around the local politicos and thinks that its the same as at the national level but it isn't, he has been in a fever swamp the whole time and wasn't smart enough to see it past Wright and Ayers etc. now it wont wash off.
3. He sleazed his way into politics by scarfing up a state house seat and then NOT giving it back later when its former owner came a calling.
4. His wife and he live in an anti-american bubble but they cant admit it out loud.
5. he is the left most senator in the US senate. PERIOD.
6. He has almost NO experience as a senator.
7. Being President is the hardest job in the world and he has almost no skill set, no experience, and no clue what it entails but he just wants the job which should alarm people by itself.
8. He is basically a communist even if he doesn't know it, his dad was, he sought commies out at college and afterwords wherever he went.
9. His background is so odd he cant relate to most normal american demographic groups and neither can his wife. They just make great egg-head guests at a cocktail party but if it wasn't for his wife he would be like a man without a country, detached and outside looking in.
10. He is a very eloquent liar and he knows it, he just doesn't think you do. He suffers from assuming he is always the smartest person in the room - narcissism being a liberal pre-requisite.

Now that he has thrown Wright under the bus like his evil racist Gramma can we now please stop referring to what Wright said as "snippets taken out of context". I don't like being told that not hearing the WHOLE ten hour sermon "nullifies" my question and frankly NOBODY sells DVD's at their church titled "snippets out of context". When you record a DVD to sell in your church of your own favy rants you call them "Wrights greatest hits!". This allows us to stop pretending that someone came in with their hidden gotcha-cam and filmed him like you would a bootleg grateful dead show - This is his own emmy reel available for a devotional contribution of $29.95 with the proceeds going towards the all white neighborhood mansion.

Isn't that the whole point? Make sure the people don't choose the wrong candidate? As I recall the people voted (late 70s? early 80s?) for a not-approved-by-the-party-leadership candidate, so they changed the rules to prevent that from happening again. I'm so glad this is coming back to bite them hard.

Guess them Democrat nominatin' chickens are finally coming home to roost!!!

I wish Wright could've controlled himself just a little more so that Obama wouldn't have a reason to distance himself so far from him. He could've been a more effective wedge.

Maybe this is a plan Wright and Obama came up with?

It is also more difficult for some to assign "evil" to other people. To believe that someone is "evil" is to believe that there is something irredeemable about that person. Something that makes them less then human.

That is really not that easy to do.

We often find it more comforting to think that person is just ill-informed, misguided, or just too stupid to be held accountable for there errors. Such a person is redeemable. We can still accept them as brothers and sisters at some primary level.

The Obama campaign is completely off the tracks now and careening downhill with nobody in the locomotive.

Obama's wife has been a member of that "church" for her entire life. She brought him into that "church." She is, in all likelihood, the reason he waited until the last bleeding second before he pitched Wright off of that runaway train. Now that he's pitched Wright, he has to answer to his wife.

=

Wright is an egotistical bigot (aren't they all?) who can't stand the idea of the pupil besting the master. He has nothing to lose. No matter what becomes of Obama, Wright will still have the ten million dollar retirement estate, the Porsche, and a million dollar book deal.

If this is all it took to wreck Obama's campaign train, and it is, how could anybody possibly want him at the controls of the largest train in human history?

Leaving Obama with a junior senators seat and an angry wife.

re: #147 lummox

You are so right, Lummox -- this is amazing. Here is it for those who didn't follow the link:

Obama's Pastor Plan [Amy Holmes]
I just figured out how Obama gets out of this. It's devious. But it may be only way.

He leaves this thing alone for the time being and suffers through the next few primaries. He hangs onto his pledged delegate lead, makes the argument that pledged delegates are all that matter. So far, polling shows Democratic voters agree.

He prevails and wins the nomination. Then, he deploys The Pastor Plan. It goes like this. Pastor Wright arranges to give a speech. In it, the pastor makes such outlandish and slanderous claims, not unlike we've already heard, that Obama has no choice but to say, "Enough! Jeremiah has gone too far. I cannot abide his divisive, harmful, and inappropriate language. He does not speak for me or my family which is why we must, with heavy hearts, sever our relationship. He will always be a friend and welcome at my door. But I cannot continue to take his counsel, religious or otherwise." It helps here if the pastor has used some swear words and invented new conspiracies.

Obama sends Pastor Wright a heartfelt letter, more in sorrow than in anger, which he posts on his website. He holds a press conference to inform the public that he has spoken with the pastor privately and explained his position. Obama vows to carry on the church's work of charity and compassion. He stages some events showing him involved in a multicultural community service project, visits a West Virginia coal mine, stuff like that. And he exhorts his fellow Americans to join him in the journey toward racial reconciliation.

Timing is key. Sometime right after the inevitable 527 Pastor Wright ads start running. In fact, they can be the pretext of the pastor's speech. The 527 ads provoke the Reverend's fury. Obama reacts. Bam! It's over. Pastor problem solved.

Think the Clintons wouldn't do it?

And why? Because white America was freaked out by a black preacher!” obviously going to hold Wright and Obama to the same standard to which white America is held.

Pop Quiz Queston #2: Since Wright is retiring to a 93% white neighborhood, should he be treated any differently than his neighbors?

Just out of curiosity, why isn't Wright retiring to a multicultural neighborhood (or does 7% qualify)?

Today, the scales fell from my eyes and I saw Barack Obama for what he truly is: a weak man and a standard politician.

This would be the intellectual version of being smacked in the mouth by the sidewalk. One more battle scar.

Unfortunately, most basements are made of concrete too.

While I was trying to figure out what happened to Sharpton's threatened shutdown of NYC I found this blog with comments: [Link: gothamist.com...]

THere are a few tidbits in these comments that I didn't pick up in articles.

First, the guy that was shot by the cops, Sean Bell, was a local crack dealer who tried to run over the cops with his car.

And the cops who killed him were also African-American so it can't be a racial crime.

/Do I even have to?

176 hermeneutics  Wed, Apr 30, 2008 12:25:49am

Uncle Tom is a pejorative for an African American who is perceived by others as behaving in a subservient manner to White American authority figures, or as seeking ingratiation with them by way of unnecessary accommodation. The term Uncle Tom comes from the title character of Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom's Cabin, although there is debate over whether the character himself is deserving of the pejorative attributed to him.[1]
It is commonly used to describe black people whose political views or allegiances are considered by their critics as detrimental to blacks as a group.

From wiki, of course.

In Obama's speech he makes this comment,

I went to church and listened to sermons. What I heard, there’s an emphasis on importance of social struggle, striving for equality, justice, fairness, a social gospel. Rather than fancy word like black liberation theology, he uses social gospel.”

So he admits that he heard these "social gospels" while he listened to sermons at Trinity Church. Sounds to me like Obama just admitted that he knew Wright was a racist all these years and he did not care until Wright attacked him personally.

The longer Obama and, naturally, Clinton keep-up this well produced dog-fight for the drivers seat, the longer the Media can remain exclusively focused on the Democrat's.

Rat-now, rat-cheer, at this point in time, this race for the Oval office isn't between two opposing parties in the eyes of the public, this race for the Oval is being framed as between two different contestants from within the same party. McCain only gets thrown Media filler time.

If this goes on until the Dem's Convention, August 28, there will only be about 2 months of campaigning between 'X' vs. McCain - that's it! Hell, the Dem's could probably even avoid a debate with McCain which means they can almost avoid any debate on issues and not risk exposing themselves as lacking in substance.

It really is an excellent strategy. We'd be in September or October, the parties would announce a debate and a huge chunk of the population probably won't even remember there is an opposing candidate - McCain.

Mornin folks.

But ... if you look at the head-to-head polls, McCain has been holding steady. So I don't think it has hurt McCain to be out of the limelight, particularly when its so negative.

I also think that many of McCain voters have already decided -- the one-third, or so, who always vote R.

Its that third in the middle, the fence-sitters who are up for grabs. And these folk are hearing mostly negative stories about Ob and Hill.

Recieved in an e-mail from a friend:

A young Canadian soldier was attending some college courses between assignments.
He had also completed missions in Afghanistan .

One of the courses had a professor who was a vowed atheist. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He Looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes."

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am God. I'm still waiting." It got down to the last couple of minutes when the young soldier got out of his Chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The young man went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the soldier and asked, "What the hell is the matter with! you? Why did you do that?"

Came the reply,
"God was too busy today protecting our soldiers who are protecting your right to talk stupid and act like an a**hole. So, He sent me"

Aboo, Doesn't there have to be a "critical mass" before the bandwagon effect takes hold? People have to feel like Obama will succeed, to be sure of his eventual win, to jump on the bandwagon. That inevitability is gone, or at least I think it is.

Frankly, I think its amazing that McCain has stayed even without media coverage. Polls generally understate the Republican vote, too. I have no idea how long it will last.

Here's the RCP poll average for Pennsylvania: [Link: www.realclearpolitics.com...]

Another thought, Aboo ...

Look at Rasmussen's daily match-up. Obama consistently stas between 41-46% against McCain. McCain, on the other hand, hovers between 44 and 50%. It seems like Obama can't reach a majority.

The numbers are similar for a Clinton-McCain matchup: Cinton is between 41 and 46% and McCain is between 45 and 50%.

What I see is two D candidates with a glass ceiling of about 45/46/47 percent.

Third party candidates screw up this analysis.

re: #199 hermeneutics

Once the Dem's have chosen which candidate will drive and which one ride, the media will throw everything behind the Dem's and toss McCain to the dogs. But a good portion of the bandwagon effect comes with name recognition and amount of exposure, maybe subliminally, which is where MSM has been throwing their weight to the exclusion of the other party.

The reference to the polling was in reference to daily media reports of who was projected ahead/behind(BO or Hill) in the run-up to the poll. On any given day you could find some proclaiming BO ahead and some proclaiming Clinton ahead - seemingly dependent upon which paper or agency was behind which candidate. Drudge really does an excellent job exposing this nonsense.

Obama did not do the right thing. He did far too little. He did it twenty years too late. NEW DELHI: The Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, arrived here for a dinner meeting with Indian government officials on Tuesday, but he was expected to sign no path-breaking bilateral deals, nor iron out the kinks in a proposed 1,600-mile-long natural gas pipeline. Instead, he brought the Indian government a strange boon: a chance to show that it is willing to buck pressure from the White House and shake hands with a man Washington reviles.

One Indian official described it as "high visibility visit" with a slim chance of tangible outcomes.

Even as the United States presses India to exert greater pressure on Iran to limit its nuclear program, the government of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is under increasing pressure from its political critics at home to assert its independence from the United States. Iran has become the perfect proxy.

"It is good for the government to be seen taking a stand that the U.S. may not like," observed Lalit Mansingh, a former Indian ambassador to Washington.

Today, the scales fell from my eyes and I saw Barack Obama for what he truly is: a weak man and a standard politician.

Wait a week, until you finally see that he is in fact a cowardly man and a substandard politican. Why then the green scales will fall like rain, little Jackie Paper. Such is maturity. Years from now, you will be a conservative.

Until then, tell it to the backhand.

"I pray for Christians. They've been misled. They will realize one day the true story," said Nader Talebzadeh, whose film has been screened at international film festivals and is being marketed for wider release.

"People might use this film as a strategy to further demonize Iran," he said. "They may succeed. But I hope once you see that the focus of the film is sacred, it will overwhelm. No one would have imagined that an Iranian would make a film to glorify Jesus." Not to mention an Iranian who supports President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and believes 9/11 was partly a US government conspiracy.

"Someone masterminded something," he said. "And this is the cause for a lot of evil America is doing in this part of the world." There is another irony. The actor who plays Jesus, Ahmad Soleimani-Nia, once was a soldier in the Iranian army and later a welder for Iran's Atomic Energy Agency, Los Angeles Times said.

Fear those Christians welding Bibles!.........

.Like a pack of rabid wolves a band of 15 "Asian" men chased a 19 year old British man for one half mile before catching the lone victim and beating him with baseball bats.

The scenario is similar to the one I recently blogged about regarding the 16 year old asthmatic lad, David Proctor, who was robbed and severly beaten by a gang of muslim thugs. In Protor's case the muslims used dogs to terrorize the boy - they also made him strip naked for further humiliation.

In the current case - baseball bats were used to inflict brutal injuries on the 19 year old young man. There was NO instigating cause - just a British man walking alone minding his own business when these muslim cretins decided to single him out for a beating. One can only imagine the terror of being cornered - like prey - with 15 crazed muslim, in a frenzy, wielding baseball bats.

You have to know right from wrong before you can place it ahead of any other beliefs you might hold - or judge your beliefs by your knowledge of right and wrong.

Far too many of the "liberal" left prove daily that they have no conception whatever of right and wrong. But that is what happens when you reject G_d and even the simple rules laid out in the Ten Commandments and instead substitute man-made rules like "cause no offense."

I'm fine. In for a busy day as the sun is shining again so all the tomatoes and peppers have to be moved outside and there is a mountain of yard work to do. Had my nephew up to put in some work last week - built a deck to replace the front stairs that were falling apart, cut down a whole bunch of scrub trees and took out some bushes that had gotten so large they were overhanging the entire walk and half the patio. And I have to get the area where we put the pool cleaned up and covered in black plastic to get rid of the weeds so we can put up the pool.

Obama has played the end justifies the means game to get ahead in the corrupt political scene that exists in Illinois, and Chicago in particular. Now that he has emerged on the national scene he'd like to bury, or at least have the electorate forget, the means part. He may even believe his own hype about being a new and different kind of politician but once you've played the role of consigliare for some crooks, chanted with racists and frequented terrorists it's normal for some of this stuff to become public knowledge and be used by your opponents in a national campaign.

Now, with Wright's latest blatherings we'll see at whose home those chichens are going to roost.

Charles, you are mentioned in an article this morning, in Toronto's National Post...

An Anatomy of Surrender

In June 2005, the BBC aired the documentary Don’t Panic, I’m Islamic, which sought to portray concerns about Islamic radicalism as overblown. This “stunning whitewash of radical Islam,” as Little Green Footballs blogger Charles Johnson put it, “helped keep the British public fast asleep, a few weeks before the bombs went off in London subways and buses” in July 2005. In December 2007, it emerged that five of the documentary’s subjects, served up on the show as examples of innocuous Muslims-next-door, had been charged in those terrorist attacks—and that BBC producers, though aware of their involvement after the attacks took place, had not reported important information about them to the police.

My mom sat by my dad's side as he slowly ebbed away. We did not know when the end would come, only that it would.

To the outside world, life in Kenya may have returned to normality as a power-sharing accord drew the line under some of the worst tribal clashes since independence from Britain. But for Mary and others like her, the terror goes on.
"We all used to live together. We don't know where this evil comes from," said the 49 year old, nervously fingering the gash in her leg that has yet to heal.
With no sign yet that the rule of law is returning to her neighbourhood, the Kikuyu woman fears her Luo neighbours may come after her again. She is too afraid to give her last name.
Besides more than 1,200 people killed, 300,000 were uprooted and hundreds more sexually assaulted in the wave of violence and reprisal attacks triggered by President Mwai Kibaki's disputed re-election in December.
As is often the case, women and children were prime targets: The United Nations said the rate of reported rapes doubled during Kenya's crisis. The youngest victim was 1 year old.

"If you look closely at mosques located in low income neighborhoods you will notice the improvements to the homes closest to the mosque. This is how they induce loyalty from the people who live closest to the mosque. I’ve been in ghetto neighborhoods where this phenomenon has occurred and you will even see children on the rooftops with cell phones who will notify the mosque that you are in the area. These same children will also ride up and write your license number down inside their Quran and deliver that information directly to the mosque. Don’t laugh. Been there and done that. I can take you to places in Pennsylvania and New York and show you this."--Randy Taylor

Family love in Islam...heart warming isn't it?....

An Iraqi father suffocated and stabbed to death his seventeen year old daughter after discovering that she had fallen in love with a British soldier based in Basra, press reports said Monday.

Abdel-Qader Ali stood on his daughter's throat until she suffocated and then stabbed her, while shouting that he was cleansing his honor, British paper the Daily Mail said.

Leila Hussein --the girl's mother-- said she tried to call out for help and "her two brothers [came] so they could get their father away. But when he told them the reason, instead of saving her they helped him end her life," the Daily Mail reported.

I have a small backyard--I've thought about raised beds.

Raised beds are pretty easy but they are also somewhat more expensive than traditional in the ground gardening and require a bigger investment than containers do. If you aren't sure you will like gardening, I would suggest that you try a few tomatoes & peppers in 5 gallon buckets before you invest in the raised beds.

The square foot gardening site is good.

A three-woman panel met at San Antonio College as part of a lecture series on Christianity and Islam. The object was to clear up some misconceptions about the role of women in Islam. Muslim women were not oppressed, that’s what the panelists told the kids. In fact, it was just the opposite—Islam teaches equality and respect for everyone, including women. Isn’t that what Ibrahim Hooper has been saying all these years? Or was it somebody else? Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Jimmy Carter? Robert Edgar? Someone.

One of the panelists was Brenda Meneses. People often confuse cultural behavior with actual theology she said. Christians in the Western World have a difficult time understanding this because they have a different idea about the role religion plays in their lives. Well, sure, that’s possible. There are many interpretations of the Bible. What do the suras say about the role of women in Islam?

Tabari IX:113,

“Treat women well for they are like domestic animals and they possess nothing in themselves.”

Bukhari V3B48N826:

“The Prophet said, ‘Isn’t the witness of a women equal to half of that of a man?’ The woman said, ‘Yes.’ He said, “This is because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind.”

His politics were to the left of the separatist Parti Quebecois which, at that time and even after being elected in 1976, had a rather conservative economic policy. Today, all the political groupings in Quebec are so many left appendages floating in the breeze.

I think that is the biggest difference between Europe and the US. And being old enough to remember when Canada was ruled by England rather literally, I include Canada in this too. We have a written Constitution that gives each and every citizen certain inalienable rights and the power & validity of government sits with the people. In European countries it is government that holds the power & legitimacy and it is government which extends rights to the people - or not.

The irony of this situation is, of course, that any discussion of the Muslim Brotherhood's "grand jihad" is prohibited by the government's new guidelines.

Additionally, congressional leadership on these issues is sorely needed. While Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC) recently unveiled her 10-point plan to begin addressing the domestic terrorist threat entitled, "Wake Up America", these tactical efforts do not mention the larger strategic issues of assessing and identifying the doctrinal foundations of Islamic terrorism and the process of radicalization that it relies upon. Her plan, however, is a welcome alternative to the current policy of congressional negligence with reference to the domestic terror threat. A proactive Congress asking administration officials hard questions will be requisite to turn back the ill-considered State Department and Homeland Security's new policy.

But the key component needed for any future government policies regarding terrorism must be the long overdue assessment of our enemy's strategy and ideology. The present guidelines effectively prohibit any such analysis. Until such a comprehensive study by our intelligence, military and law enforcement communities is complete, we are left flying blind in the war on terror. As we should have learned on 9/11 at the cost of lives of three thousand innocent civilians, the enemy's vision is not likewise obscured.

Note that he still attends that church and he still sends his precious children to be indoctrinated into the Wright "reverend's" school of thought.

Another reason I am glad I fled California.........

.AB2062 is scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, May 7 in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.Sponsored by State Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB2062 would require that law-abiding gun owners obtain a permit to buy handgun ammunition and would impose severe restrictions on the private transfers of handgun ammunition. Applicants for a "permit-to-purchase" would be required to submit to a background check, pay a $35 fee, and wait as long as 30 days to receive the permit.

Under AB2062, it would be unlawful to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a "handgun ammunition vendor" in the Department of Justice's database. Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. The bill would also require vendors to keep a record of the transaction including the ammunition buyer's name, driver's license, the quantity, caliber, type of ammunition purchased, and right thumbprint, which would be submitted to the Department of Justice. Vendors would be required to contact the purchase permit database to verify the validity of a permit before completing a sale. All ammunition sales in the State of California would be subject to a $3 per transaction tax. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited. Any violator of AB2062 would be subject to civil fines.

Mobile phone images of her broken body transmitted on the internet led to sectarian violence, international outrage and calls for reform. Her father, Khalil Aswad, speaking one year after her death in April last year, has revealed that none of those responsible had been prosecuted and his family remained "outcasts" in their own tribe.

"My daughter did nothing wrong," he said. "She fell in love with a Muslim and there is nothing wrong with that. I couldn't protect her because I got threats from my brother, the whole tribe. They insisted they were gong to kill us all, not only Du'a, if she was not killed. She was mutilated, her body dumped like rubbish.

Barak Suppresses His Own Gut Feelings - But Not Hamas Terror

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert raised the issue of Hamas's attempts to reach a truce but said it wasn't appropriate to expand on the issue since Defense Minister Ehud Barak was not present.
Olmert criticized Barak's absence. "It would have been fitting for him to take part in a ministerial discussion about security issues," he said.
Barak was at a Golani Brigade training exercise in the Golan. At the end of the drill, Barak told the soldiers: "My gut feeling is to respond immediately and with all our strength to every attack from the Gaza Strip."
"However," he continued, "We must act with the proper judgment and at the correct time."
"Out hearts are in the South with residents of the Gaza belt," added the defense minister.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Roads in Saudi Arabia are among the most dangerous in the world, with a high rate of traffic accidents. But one type of victim stands out: female teachers, who are dying at alarming rates because of long commutes through the desert to reach schools in remote locations.

The Saudi government appoints teachers to work in small villages where local staff cannot fill all vacancies. But unlike their male counterparts, female teachers in this conservative Muslim country have difficulty living alone in the villages, forcing them to drive each day; they need permission from a male guardian to live alone and have to find a landlord willing to rent them an apartment.

Nof al-Oneizi was so worried she would die that she wrote to education officials urging them to find her a school nearer to her home in the northern town of al-Jouf, rather than the one she was assigned in a village 108 miles away — a three-hour drive because of the bad roads.

But al-Oneizi’s fears came true before a solution to her problem could be found. The 28-year-old English-language teacher, who was engaged to be married, died in a horrific car accident last November. Five other female teachers, the driver of their van and four family members in the car.

And if he does, WE'RE screwed.

I'm counting on two separate, warring camps of Democrats this year.

Right on! They are now saying that Hillary is closing in North Carolina.
If she hammers him in Indiana & plays close in NC , her case becomes stronger to the Super Delegates.
Barrys people are counting on the Wright thing to fade. Hey, there is still William Ayres.Hillary knows that would fly.
Take it to the convention. kick the crap out of each other.Look like an unruly mob.Yeah Baby!

I made dinner on the grill last night. chicken, tatoes, and I cut some asparagus and rolled it in olive oil. Did your nose smell that last night? YUM

You see, what we’re trying to do, Hugh, is to trace the rat line back where it came from. See, I’ve lost 147 soldiers under my command since I’ve been here in the last fourteen months. Many of those soldiers were killed by explosive foreign penetrators that are all traced back to Iran, or by Iranian rockets. So what we do, in everything that we do, for example, we found so many weapons caches over the course of the last month, and in those weapons caches we found Iranian rockets and Iranian mines.

So we’ve got detailed biometrics. We check for fingerprints, and we traced those back to where they started. We’re following the money back to Iran, we’re following the munitions back to Iran, and then looking for those people that are trained in Iran as well. So it’s a major piece of our operations, to block that Iranian influence.

Georgia on Wednesday slammed Russia's plans to boost peacekeeping troops in two rebel Georgian regions as the start of "full scale military aggression".
"It's hard to believe that this is being done for the purposes of peacekeeping, it's rather the beginning of full scale military aggression," Georgia's top diplomat, David Bakradze, told AFP.

His remarks came after Russia's defence ministry announced Tuesday an increase in peacekeeping forces to Abkhazia and South Ossetia in response to what it called aggressive moves by pro-Western Georgia.

Bakradze accused Russia of strengthening "de facto control on the ground" in Abkhazia in the last three months and establishing direct ties with the local authorities, which "questions Georgia's jurisdiction".

The Russian peacekeeping announcement only fuelled problems, said President Mikheil Saakashvili's new "special representative", who resigned as foreign minister last week to run for parliament.

"The Georgian side, as the host country, should be notified in advance and there should be consent from Georgia on any troop deployment, including peacekeepers. We have not been notified," he said.

"Peacekeeping is not strengthened by unilateral steps," he told AFP by telephone during a trip to Brussels

Good Morning Lizards.

I expect to see another 0.25% cut in the discount rate today by the Federal Reserve Board. That will devalue the dollar a little more, plus raise the costs of imports including oil to some extent.

Then the Fed.s will stand pat for quite a while.

Perhaps the greatest secular gift to the world by Judeo-Christian civilization is its seminal concept of the individual, which it raises above the tribe or the collective. In Genesis, we are told that man is made in the image of God. Deuteronomy tells us that “each human by his own sin is to be judged” and “do not punish children for the sins of their fathers.” And of course, the biblical life and teachings of Jesus reflect the deep importance of the individual. Thus was planted in the soil of the West our uniquely heightened respect for the individual.

. . . a few months ago, the increasing British Muslim demands for Shariah law were answered in the positive by the archbishop of Canterbury. If the British government ever succumbs to that outrageous demand, not only will Muslim women lose their individual rights but also, pursuant to honor killing, principals could be murdered legally by their fathers, husbands or brothers.

And they are being murdered in ever increasing numbers

No offence,,,but did you ask these people?...

The 19-year-old Iraqi was, according to her father, murdered by her own in-laws, who took her to a picnic area in Dokan and shot her seven times. Her crime was to have an unknown number on her mobile phone. Her "honour killing" is just one in a grotesque series emerging from Iraq, where activists speak of a "genocide" against women in the name of religion

These

?..."My daughter did nothing wrong," he said. "She fell in love with a Muslim and there is nothing wrong with that. I couldn't protect her because I got threats from my brother, the whole tribe. They insisted they were gong to kill us all, not only Du'a, if she was not killed. She was mutilated, her body dumped like rubbish.

This girl?..

In August last year, the body of 11-year-old Sara Jaffar Nimat was found in Khanaqin, Kurdistan, after she had been stoned and burnt to death. Earlier this month, two brothers and a sister were kidnapped from their home near Kirkuk by gunmen in police uniforms. The brothers were beaten to death and the woman left in a critical condition after being informed that she must obey the rules of an "Islamic state". One week ago, a journalist, Begard Huseein, was murdered in her home in Arbil, northern Iraq. Her husband, Mohammed Mustafa, stabbed her because she was in love with another man, according to local reports.
