Hmmm.....know not anything of how it all works......but something's spilling over into my own private computer connections......this week, my i.m. was hijacked 3 times by unknown porn-using operatives, and my Facebook account was hijacked by same-type, using the account of the sweetest young lady --hope she never finds out it happened.....both things are first-time occurrences, over and above the regular stuff that so nicely gets auto-thrown into junk or spam folders.....

Totally Off Topic

I enjoy watching the MSM writhe in agony over "citizen" journalism. As they whine and complain and resist change, their ad dollars are precipitously declining. If you are interested, Silicon Alley Insider has a good recap of recent trends.

Their prediction: In ten years newspaper circ will be a quarter of what it is today. Maybe less.

But where are those ad dollars going? The article's author believes it will migrate to online venues.

Here's the URL if you are interested. [Link: www.alleyinsider.com...]

UN vs. Goracle: Strongly worded letter issued.....
UN urges biofuel investment halt

The UN's new top adviser on food has urged a freeze on biofuel investment, saying the blind pursuit of the policy is "irresponsible".

Olivier de Schutter also wants curbs on investors whose speculation is, he says, driving food prices higher.

UN officials liken the rise in food prices to a silent tsunami, threatening 100 million of the world's poorest.

The use of food crops for alternative sources of energy like ethanol is one factor behind the price hike.

Anyone interested in the British elections yesterday? it was a stunning conservative victory.

"Preliminary results from the 159 local authorities that held elections (local polls are staggered so that not everyone votes at the same time) suggest that Labour has scored its worst performance in local elections for 40 years. Labour seems to have polled just 24% of the total, a full 20 points behind the opposition Conservatives and a point behind the Liberal Democrats."

Intrepid -

"What Blockade?" - see- "The Real Cuba" - or better yet - [Link: www.tecun.cimex.com.cu...] - DELL COMPTERS, H/P PRINTERS and STUFF FROM CISCO SYSTEMS have been "available" in CUBA for ages - as long as you are willing and able to pay the Castro Regime TWICE what you would pay for them in the USA. Same goes for "Chinese Rice Cookers" - Por Cubanos - $70, for me +/- $40 including tax and delivery from Target, with steamer accessories included. The "RAW DEAL" continues "en Cuba" as it has for the last 49 years.

I know enough to know I can't. I have played for 30+ years, and I still use a tuner to get it perfect. Oh I can get it really close without a tuner, but I can't get it perfect, and I am a freak about out of tune guitars. Its like nails on chalkboard to me. But not everyone still practices human sacrifice on Christians.

A young Indian evangelist and shepherd has been killed by Hindu priests seeking human sacrifices for a Hindu 'goddess', the latest in a series of violent attacks against Christians in India, BosNewsLife learned Wednesday, November 7.

In under a year over 190 cases of Hindu persecution of Christians.

After the BJP came into the coalition- and they are now in power, there has been a climate of impunity for any acts of violence that are committed against non Hindus.

Still, the Hindu persecution of Christians is pretty rare compared to the 185 attacks by the RoP.

re: #108 Ma Sands

Here's my explanation. It could be wrong. By placing the "chaotic" system on the two cylinders that have to roll back and forth in unison in response to the net force from the 5 swinging weights, then each of the weights will be subjected to the same counterforce and eventually the 5 individual periods will create a net left and right vibration that overtakes the weaker individual forces contributing to it making them all conform. The slower ones will speed up. The faster ones will slow down.

I would make a hypothesis that if all the weights were equal the prevailing period would be the average of the 5 initial ones, and as more and more metronomes were involved it would take longer for the system to synchronize.

The metronomes don;t speed up or slow down, they are all running at the same frequency, but they are out of phase. The net energy of the swinging masses is conveyed to the board, which rocks on the cans. That force is in turn returned to the metronomes. The dominant wave reinforces and eventually they all swing in time.

To understand militant Hinduism, one must examine its domestic roots as well as foreign influence. In the 1930s Hindu nationalism borrowed from European fascism to transform ‘different’ people into ‘enemies’. Leaders of militant Hinduism repeatedly expressed their admiration for authoritarian leaders such as Mussolini and Hitler and for the fascist model of society. This influence continues to the present day.

I have the sound turned way low on my laptop (the Missus is asleep next to me) but that was a long sine wave increasing in frequency making the shapes change, right? If so, you can test your hearing as to when the sound stops. Most middle aged people have some gaps in their hearing spectrum, in other words, the sound will stop and then resume, depending on the frequency range of your particular deafness. If you hear one long ascending tone, with no silent gaps, then your hearing is good.

This guy is walking on the beach when he finds a lantern. He rubs it and a genie come out and grants him 3 wishes.

"However, says the genie - Whatever you wish for your ex wife will get double what I give you"

The guy thinks for a moment and says he wishes for a million bucks.

The genie shakes his head, blinks up the money and reminds hime his ex wife just got TWO MILLION BUCKS!

The guy thinks awile longer and says he wants a brand new Porsche.

"Dude!" yells the genie. Your ex is gonna get TWO of these! "What are you thinking?!?"

For those interested, I have used spamcop.net for years to filter my email. Every piece of spam, some 62000 so far, has been parsed, traced and reported back to the sender ISP and the host ISP. Interestingly, the level of intelligence of these spammers is such that 90+ % of my spam actually comes to ####@spamcop.net. Actually, that is more an comment on the people who pay for the spam per address, rather than the spammers who sucker them, but I don't care how much I publish my spamcop address. The more the merrier.

However, while the Chinese, the Italians, the Spanish, the Brazilians, the Japanese and a few Germans are on the top of my shit list, so are Road Runner (US), Sprint, Verizon and a number of other US senders (seldom the site hosts however). Th rest comes from everywhere, but some of the most disappointing are Google and Yahoo who allow their web host sites to be used as redirects to other hosts like the Chinese, and what is worse is that they refuse to accept reports from users or spamcop without first going through a tedious form submission which is hard to find in the first place.

I suppose Google and Yahoo are now to important to deal with silly stuff like illegal drugs, porn and the like.

Then of course we have the Mastercards, Visas and so on who really grease the wheels of scum.

Yeh, that's life in the 21st Century....Anyone watch Blade Runner lately?

A lady was being abused her husband. She finally got sick of it and divorced him.

A couple years later, she was getting no action whatsoever. So she put an ad in the Personals.

"Man wanted for matrimony. No physical abuse tolerated. Must be able to satisfy me in bed"

A week later her doorbell rings. She opens the door, doesn't see anyone. A voice says, "Hey Lady, down here!"

She looks down, and there on her doormat is small man, obviously a quadruple amputee, no legs or arms, squatting on her doormat.

"I'm here about the personal ad" he says.

"Well, you're not exactly what I had in mind" she replied.

"Look, Lady, I read the ad. I got no arms, I can't hit you, I got no legs, I can't kick you"

"But, can you satisfy me in the bedroom?" she asked.

"Well, I rang your doorbell didn't I?"

little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?'

Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family, so call me The President.

Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.

We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.

The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.

And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.

Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.

Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.

He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper.

So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy says to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.'

The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'

The little boy replies, 'The President is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.

A man was in serious trouble. His life was spinning out of control. Everything was bad. Drinking horribly, his finances ruined, friendless, in desperation, he finally visits a monastery.

The Father interviewed him. "My son, what makes you think you are suited for this monastic order?". The new monk says "Father, my life is a wreck, you are my last hope, please, I beg you, take me in to your order".

The Father says, "Well, my son, this order is very strict. There are no creature comforts, and in addition to hard work and privation, we have an oath of silence. You get two words a year, which you may speak only in my presence. Are you still interested?"

The new monk says "Yes, Father, please!"

And so the new monk joined the order.

After a year, the Father came to the new monk and say, "My son, a year has passed, what are your two words for this year?"

The new monk said "BED HARD!"

The Father, somewhat annoyed, made a note of it.

Another year passes, the Father came to the new monk and says, "My son, a year has passed, what are your two words for this year?"

The new monk said "FOOD BAD!"

His displeasure increasing, the Father makes note of the new monks 2 words and another year passes.

The Father came to the new monk and says, "My son, a year has passed, what are your two words for this year?"

The new monk said "I QUIT!"

And the Father shrugs his shoulders and says

"Well, I am not surprised, you've done nothing but bitch the whole time you've been here..."

Interesting...

I've been checking out a bunch of British news sites about yesterday's election, and I noticed something is missing. All of the analysis cite economic woes as a major factor [probably true], a few also point to crime as a motivating factor [also probably true], but none I've seen so far mention immigration as a reason for Labour's loss. I wonder if the media over there is correct [it is an insignificant factor], or if they are so blinded by their own p.c. beliefs that they cannot comprehend the issue ever being important? Or could they still think they can spin it away?

The Taco Bell Chihuahua, a Doberman and a Bulldog are in a bar having a drink when a great-looking female Collie comes up to them and says, "Whoever can say liver and cheese in a sentence can have me."

So the Doberman says, "I love liver and cheese." The Collie replies, "That's not good enough."

The Bulldog says, "I hate liver and cheese." She says, "That's not creative enough."

Finally, the Chihuahua says, "Liver alone . . . cheese mine."

I wouldn't bet on any of the British MSM tripping over it; they've managed to skip over or side step the issue all through the election campaign.
Sigh.

You may be right. I hope the massive smack down of the status quo will wake up a few of the elites, but it may not. They probably think they can tamp it down and ride it out.

I'm afraid that the Western elites have locked into the present course, and would rather face weekly riots in the streets than change their direction.

In fact, the EU recently passed a law that had the death penalty in it [buried deep in an asterisk, in codicil, in an appendix], but not for the murder of its citizens, only for insurrection against the government! That pretty much sums it up. The worst thing a European can do, in the eyes of the EU, is threaten their power and position.

Orwell was an optimist.

A rather confused shopper is having trouble finding strawberries in the produce section. Finally, she asks the produce manager where the strawberries are located. "Sorry, Ma'am, but we're out of strawberries."
Undaunted, the woman continues to look for strawberries and after ten minutes asks the same manager the same question. Somewhat surprised, the manager replies "Ma'am, I told you, we have no strawberries."
After fruitlessly searching yet again for strawberries, the woman seeks out the manager and asks him if there are any strawberries.
"Ma'am", he replies, "How do spell the 'blue' in blueberries?"
"Uh, b-l-u-e."
"Yes", says the manager, "and how do you spell the 'black' in blackberries?"
"B-l-a-c-k", she responded.
"Correct", says the manager. "Now, how do you spell the 'fuck' in strawberries?"
"But, there ain't no 'fuck' in strawberries", she says.
"That's what I've been trying to tell you, Ma'am."

Robert Jordan --fantasy, sci-fi stuff. Not the best writing, but 11 books that will keep you occupied until you are finished with them. He died so the 12th and final in the series is being finished by someone (his son, I think).

I do mostly sci-fi for escapism.

A Lizard recommended Edward Cline's Sparrowhawk for historical fiction a couple of years ago. I went thru the first 5 books in about 3 weeks. I have the sixth--recently published--sitting on my shelf.

How long before the moonbats say we need the same thing --because Europe is soooo ahead of us?

Tomorrow? The day after?

The way they worship Europe is pathetic... especially because so few of them actually comprehend how different it is in reality.

Back in my bartending days, I got to know a cop from the Netherlands... he and his wife were in San Francisco for a few weeks, and they liked to hang out in dive bars like mine. He liked to tell stories about American tourists in Amsterdam who would get into legal trouble, and start demanding their rights. Not many understood that alot of the protections of the constitution are nonexistent over there.

He told me that the cops don't need a search warrant to enter a home, they only have to show their badge and demand entry! When I asked him how that could be, he showed me his badge, with the picture of the Queen on it, and said "She gave me permission."

The moonbats on the next stools were horrified... they always assumed Europe had more rights than us. A few eyes were opened that night!

I think back in the day when the uber, idle rich spent the season in Europe --they began the awful habit of thinking the Europeans soo much more refined. But most of them had to come back to America to make the money that allowed them to season in the Riveria in the first place.

We separated ourselves from England for a reason . . .

Mornin folks, red, Lee, SB, sage...all.

If you haven't been having fun, it's all about to change{Change!} as the Quartet opens door to ending Hamas isolation and probably just in time for Lebanon Palestinians to march on border to make Israel's 60th anniversary a real humdinger:

More than 100,000 Palestinian refugees living in Lebanon are expected to march toward the border with Israel on May 14 in the context of the Palestinian Authority's plan to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Israel....

...a plan calling on Palestinian refugees to "invade" Israel by land, air and sea in protest against Israel's anniversary celebrations.

...refugees from the West Bank and Gaza Strip would also participate in the events by staging marches toward Israeli checkpoints and border crossings.

The plan calls on the refugees to return to Israel with suitcases and tents so that they can settle down in their former villages.

The plan asks Arab countries hosting the refugees to facilitate their return by opening their borders. The plan specifically refers to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.

Palestinian refugees living in the US, EU, Canada and Latin America have been requested to use their foreign passports to fly to Ben- Gurion Airport, while dozens of ships carrying refugees will converge on Israeli ports.

Does this have the putrescent stench of Mullah's all over it or what?

In matters American the msm here usually follow AP, Reuters, the usual suspects. Not so much for news from other countries.

Are AP et al. changing their mind?

Beef with Cactus Pieces

Serves 6
2 pounds braising beef, cut into 2 inch cubes
2 tablespoons corn oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1-2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1 can (4 oz) nopalitos (cactus pieces) rinsed and chopped
2 cans (10 oz each) tomatillos (Mexican green tomatoes)
.5 cup chopped fresh cilantro
beef stock (optional)
salt and freshly ground black pepper
chopped fresh cilantro, to garnish

Step 1: Pat the beef cubes dry with paper towels. Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the beef cubes a few at a time, until browned all over. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the beef to a flameproof pan

Step 2: add the onion and garlic to the oil remaining in the frying pan and sauté until the onion is tender. Add oil as needed. Transfer to the pan, along with the jalapenos.

Step 3: add the nopalitos and tomatillos, with the can juices, to the pan. Still in the cilantro until well mixed. Add beef stock as needed, season with salt and pepper.

Step 4: bring to a slow simmer, cover and cook at a low heat for about 2.5 hrs, or until beef is very tender. Serve sprinkled with chopped cilantro.

Manhattan Red Chowder

Serves 6-8

8 lbs small quahogs or large cherry clams
4 oz slab (unsliced) bacon, rind removed and cut into .5in dice
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 stalks Celery, dice into .5in cubes
1 large onion (10 oz), cut into .5in dice
1 medium green bell pepper (6 oz), cut into .5in dice
2 medium carrots (4 oz), cut into .5in dice
2 dried bay leaves
.25 cup fresh Italian parsley
2 teaspoons dried oregano
.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1.5 potatoes, peeled and cut into half inch dice. Yukon Gold, PEI, or Maine Potatoes for those in the states.
1 cup clam broth, or bottle clam juice, or fish stock, or chicken stock
1 can (28 oz) whole peeled tomatoes in juice, cut into half inch dice
freshly ground black pepper.
Kosher or Sea Salt.

Step 1: scrub the clams and rinse clean. Steam them open. Strain the broth (should be about 4 cups or thereabouts) and have left about 1 lb of clams. Cover the clams with plastic wrap and keep refrigerated. After they have cooled somewhat, dice into .5 inch cubes. Cover again and keep refrigerated until needed.

Step 2: heat a 4-6 quart heavy pot over low heat (I use cast iron) and add the bacon. Once it has rendered a few tablespoons of fat, increase the heat to medium and cook the bacon until crispy golden brown. Drain off all but one table spoon of fat, leaving the bacon in the pot.

Step 3: add the olive oil and the garlic and cook for 30 seconds,, then add the onion, celery, bell pepper, carrots, bay leaves, oregano, and crashed red pepper. Saute, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, for 10-12 minutes, until the vegetables are softened but not browned.

Step 4: place the potatoes, the reserved clam broth, and the additional 1 cup of broth. The broth should barely cover the potatoes. If it doesn’t, add water to barely cover turn up the heat, bring to a boil, cover and cook the potatoes for about 10 minutes until soft on the outside, but still firm in the center. If the broth isn’t thickened, smash a few potatoes against the side of the pot to release their starch.

Step 5: add the tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat, stir in the diced clams and parsley , and season to taste with the pepper.

Step 6: When serving the chowder, reheat over a low heat, do not boil.

Twelve Italian priests
were about to be ordained. The final test was for them to line up in a straight
row, totally nude, in a garden while a sexy, beautiful, big breasted, nude model
danced before them. Each priest had a small bell attached to his weenie, and
they were told that anyone whose bell rang when she danced in front of them
would not be ordained because he had not reached a state of spiritual purity.

The beautiful model danced
before the first candidate, with no reaction. She proceeded down the line with
the same response from all the priests until she got to the final priest,
Carlos.
Poor Carlos. As she
danced, his bell began to ring so loudly that it flew off, clattering across the
ground and laid to rest in nearby foliage. Embarrassed, Carlos quickly scrambled
to where the bell came to rest. He bent over to pick it
up......

and suddenly all the
other bells started to ring!

Valerie, from Madrid, Kentucky was driving through a remote part of Arizona when her car broke down. An American Indian on horseback came along and offered her a
ride to a nearby town. She climbed up behind him on the horse and they rode
off.

The ride was uneventful, except that every few minutes the Indian would let
out a 'Ye-e-e-e-h-a-a-a-a' so loud that it echoed from the surrounding
hills.

When they arrived in town, he let her off at the local service station,
yelled one final 'Ye-e-e-e-h-a-a-a-a!' and rode off.
'What did you do to get that Indian so excited?' asked the service-station
attendant. 'Nothing,' the woman answered. 'I merely sat behind him on the
horse, put my arms around his waist, and held onto the saddle horn so I
wouldn't fall off.'

'Lady,' the attendant said, 'Indians don't use saddles.

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out
during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.

Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate
their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and
flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston , a widow had just returned
home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack.

The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted.

The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on
the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I've Arrived
Date: October 16, 2007

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have
computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones.

I've just arrived and have been checked in. I see that
everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as
uneventful as mine was.

By her using this one I can keep an eye on where she goes and what she does without being obtrusive about it or literally tracking her every move. She also doesn't get email from strangers that I know nothing about. And I stripped this machine of really unsafe things like all the instant messenger clients. I want her to have "freedom" - just not too much of it quite yet.

Good morning, Lizards.

I have to tell you the story about what just happened. You are allowed to laugh.

Every morning, I make my breakfast (coffee and oatmeal with dried fruit) and take it upstairs to the study where I log on to the computer.

This morning, my toe caught the edge of the top stair. I went sprawling forwards. The bowl with the oatmel broke, and milky porridge when oozing all over the landing. It also spalshed up on me;;t-shirt, shorts, and hair (I looked like I just lost a food fight with a 2-year old). My knees were slightly skinned. Luckily, I managed to save the coffee mug, only sloshing a bit.

After quietly expressing my extreme annoyance (I'll leave the choice to words to your imagination), I made a fresh bowl of oatmeal, changed my clothes, washed my face and arms, grabbed the paper towels, and dealt with the mess. The dog was a great help.

I can't quite laugh at this yet (my knee is still sore), but I do see the comic potential.

The air is different in the mile-high city, Denver. Its rarefied atmosphere spawns some bizarre denizens. But none more so than Rima Barakat Sinclair. Barakat-Sinclair. As you may recall from a post we did, created consternation in the ranks of local GOP and frankly many constituents in Colorado House District Six, when she won the nod to become the party candidate for the district by a thin two vote margin. She apparently won over those in the district GOP caucus with her strong ‘pro-life’ stand against her nearest ‘liberal’ contender. Pro-life? And that from a self-professed Muslim whose belief system tolerates ‘honor killings’ of young women such as those that occurred in Toronto and Arlington, Texas at the hands of their own fathers- a product of an ‘honor shame society’.

Muslims for Obama...

.BAHRAINIS should be rooting for Barack Obama to win the race to become the next US president if they want peace in the region, according an American political expert. Bahrain University American Studies Centre assistant professor of political science, Dr Colin Cavell, said the Democratic candidate is the most likely to pull troops out of Iraq and bring a peaceful end to the US standoff with Iran.

He said a win for fellow Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton or Republican nominee John McCain could herald an outbreak of fighting between Iran and the US.

Dr Cavell bases his views on public comments made by Senator Clinton, as well as expectation that Senator McCain will continue with similar policies of the current administration.

"Most of my students are supporting Obama because they believe that he will pull the troops out of Iraq and will lead a very non-belligerent government," Dr Cavell said.

Swahili dictionary lists "barak(a)" as a noun meaning "blessing, prosperity, abundance".
The Arabic for "blessed" is "mubaarak" (%u0645%u0628%u0627%u0631%u0643), as in the surname of the Egyptian president.
So to recap: Barak Obama's first name is both Swahili (as it is a part of Swahili lexicon) and Arabic (since it is Arabic by origin).

The King's of the east...mount up......

One of the advantages of the Chinese base is that submarines based there are close to deep water, making their deployment quicker and harder to detect. Jane's analysts suggest the base could be used for "expeditionary as well as defensive operations" and would allow the submarines to "break out to launch locations closer to the U.S."

According to the 2007 edition of the Pentagon's annual report on Chinese military power, China is developing a capability beyond regional war at a pace that both surprises and concerns U.S. officials, a capability that includes a new generation of ballistic missile submarines and the capability of a first-strike attack on our military satellites.

Appropriately, the Pentagon report captures the essence of Chinese military and geopolitical strategy by quoting former supreme leader Deng Xiaoping's advice to "hide our capacities and bide our time, be good at maintaining a low profile."

Lyle Goldstein, director of the China Maritime Studies Institute at the U.S. Naval War College, recently said: "What was gray before is now becoming clear. China can now effectively fight a nuclear war."

Time may soon be up.

A FATHER and his 12-year-old son are back home in Qatar after being kidnapped and tortured in Pakistan’s lawless tribal area.
Mohamed Azam Hussain al-Balushi, 51, and his son Faisal were snatched by armed men masquerading as police during a trip to the family’s ancestral home in Baluchistan province.
For nine days, the thugs – who demanded QR3.6mn for the pair’s release – beat the hostages with hot pokers, stubbed burning cigarettes out on their bodies and threatened the boy with syringes filled with battery acid.
Now, after an amazing escape, both father and son have returned to Doha.
A family member told Gulf Times: “While al-Balushi has accepted this as an ‘inevitable chapter’ in his destiny his son, Faisal, has still not been able to get over the shock.
“He is tormented by nightmares in which dark shadows appear holding incandescent iron rods. They descend upon him to char his feet and hands. There are ugly men holding thick syringes filled with battery acid. They rush upon him to inject it into his body and Faisal wakes up crying

A JEALOUS husband has been sentenced to five years in jail for the attempted murder of his wife.
A Doha court heard that the 31-year-old Filipino repeatedly stabbed his estranged partner and another woman he had taken hostage.
When he agreed to take the two injured women to hospital, police officers got to hear of the crime and arrested the man.
According to court papers, the Filipino came to Qatar in February last year with the intention of killing his estranged partner because he suspected she was having an affair. On March 2, he turned up at his wife’s accommodation and took another Filipina hostage.
Sources said: “He demanded she call his wife and ask her to come to the room. When she came he stabbed her in different parts of her body and injured the hostage in her arm.”
After the two women begged for mercy, the husband finally agreed to take them to hospital – as long as they told no one of the attack.
However, nine days later the police got to hear of the crime and captured the man.
During the trial, the 29-year-old wife of the defendant accused him of raping their four-year-old daughter in the Philippines in 2005. She also claimed he was a drug addict.

All quiet on the Golan Heights
The saying goes that the Arabs can't make war without Egypt, but there can't be peace without Syria

For the first time in years, the possibility of Israel returning the Golan Heights to its arch-enemy, Syria, has made an unexpected comeback. Syrian President Bashar Assad announced last week that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert had assured him that Israel was willing to withdraw from the occupied plateau, in exchange for a peace treaty. Coming after Israel's military assault on an apparent nuclear reactor in northeastern Syria in September and the assassination of a leading Hezbollah figure in the streets of Damascus in February, many were surprised that the confrontational attitude of the two countries had so quickly changed.

They shouldn't have been. The makings of a deal have been in place for more than a decade.

THe dangerous wishful thinking of the Western leftist media is frightening. He takes what Assad said at face-value, peace is now possible, because Assad said so.

Syria isn't about to sign a treaty unless a Palestinian agreement with Israel is also forthcoming. Damascus has always insisted that such a deal was contingent on the return of all land conquered from Arabs. But rather than being an obstacle, a pending Israel-Syria agreement could be an incentive for a deal between Israel and the Palestinians. Damascus holds some sway with Hamas, and, on the right terms, Jerusalem might find a way to include Hamas* in the peace process. That too could be a benefit of an Israel-Syria accord.

*Ah, there's the rub.

About a week and a half ago I decided that posting here at LGF was not very good for my overall health... I've been browsing the discussions for links and information, but that's about it. I had a long talk with a fellow lizard last night, and she persuaded me to give posting another try. I have another email prompt from her this morning so here I am, back to participate in reasonable discussion with like-minded lizards because I support Charles and believe in what he is doing here. The ignore feature should help keep the blood pressure down.

It's been a very busy couple of weeks for me working during the day, attending school at night and working overtime to continue setting a poor example for my children. I have one week of classes left, and then I can sit for my certification exam.

I do have a good job now, working as an HHA, so you can remove that from the prayer list... your prayers on my behalf were heard.

Read this........

As we reported last week, the memos say a change in language from the U.S. government is needed to win the hearts and minds of moderate Muslims and avoid glamorizing terrorists motivated by religious ideology. "Moderate" is also frowned upon in the memos, though, with "mainstream" or "traditional" suggested as replacements.

Among the recommendations not reported previously:

"The experts we consulted debated the word ‘liberty,' but rejected it because many around the world would discount the term as a buzzword for American hegemony."
"The fact is that Islam and secular democracy are fully compatible – in fact, they can make each other stronger. Senior officials should emphasize that fact."
The USG [U.S. government] should draw the conflict lines not between Islam and the West, but between a dangerous, cult-like network of terrorists and everyone who is in support of global security and progress.
So America, after serving for more than two centuries the sanctuary for huddled masses yearning to breathe free, is being asked to minimize liberty against fanatics bent on a global religious state. The memo doesn't offer examples to show where Islam and secular democracy have reinforced each other, or explain how Shariah law, the imposition of religion into state affairs, is "fully compatible" with secular democracy.

Obama and Hill-Billy didn't do this....our President did. [Link: www.weaselzippers.net...]

"Islam is a noble religion" President Bush....

.Salma trusted her boyfriend enough to speak freely with him about romance, love and even sex.

But she has paid a high price for her candour. Salma, who asked that her real name be concealed because of the sensitivity of her story, is hiding in a women’s shelter in the northeastern city of Sulaimaniyah, her body battered and bruised.

Her boyfriend recorded their intimate conversations on his phone and passed them onto her family through a friend when she refused to marry him. Salma’s body still bears the scars of her family’s response. The 28-year-old’s hand was fractured during one of the beatings from her brothers, father and uncles.

“They started to beat me without even letting me speak,” she said. “They beat me so severely that I fainted several times."

Somebody ask her. [Link: www.stophonourkillings.com...]

Hillary Urged president to bomb Serbians

On March 21, 1999, Hillary expressed her views by phone to the President: “I urged him to bomb.” The Clintons argued the issue over the next few days. [The President expressed] what-ifs: What if bombing promoted more executions? What if it took apart the NATO alliance? Hillary responded, “You cannot let this go on at the end of a century that has seen the major holocaust of our time. What do we have NATO for if not to defend our way of life?” The next day the President declared that force was necessary. I'm glad you're back. You have much to offer. The scroll wheel on you mouse is a wonderful feature. I find there are folks here I agree with & some I dissagree with. I do appreciate reasonable discussion or debates with people whose ideas I may not agree with, but who make good arguments for their opinions. I think we all learn something from that. Thanks very much. It is fascinating stuff... I've really enjoyed watching this documentary a lot and I have a copy of it on order to give to my son when he comes in off deployment.

All of the episodes are online now, over at PBS. It's encouraging to me that these fine, patriotic young men and women will be taking over the reins of our government and educational institutions when the aging hippie socialists finally give it up, and move into long term care facilities and depends.

"The Whore Lived Like a German"

Islam is a noble religion...President Bush......

In the past four months, six Muslim women living in Berlin have been brutally murdered by family members. Their crime? Trying to break free and live Western lifestyles. Within their communities, the killers are revered as heroes for preserving their family dignity. How can such a horrific and shockingly archaic practice be flourishing in the heart of Europe? The deaths have sparked momentary outrage, but will they change the grim reality for Muslim women?
The shots came from nowhere and within minutes the young Turkish mother standing at the Berlin bus stop was dead. A telephone call from a relative had brought her to this cold, unforgiving place. She thought she would only be gone for a few minutes and wore a light jacket in the freezing February wind. She had left her five-year-old son asleep in his bed. He awoke looking for his mother, who, like many Turkish women in Germany, harbored a secret life of fear, courage and, ultimately, grief. Ah, figured it out! in the bottom of the page pic music (unless you want the video) type in name of song and hit search then when the song comes up - usually on an album click on the song and voila! It plays!
Got CSN's "Southern Cross" currently playing off the Daylight Again Album, think I'll skip the song "Daylight Again" however - too emotional for this hour of the day.

Nothing has been formally confirmed yet, but the writing is on the wall. I spent a lot of time talking to an oncologist here last week.

It may turn out to be related to her hemachromatosis. I pray it will. Losing a lot of weight, spots in the lung, skin patches -- it's not good.

Riyadh (AsiaNews) - Arab women had more rights at the time of the Romans than they have today. At that time, in fact, their capacity to conduct their own economic affairs was recognised, which is not true in Saudi Arabia today. This is maintained by a female Saudi scholar, Hatoon al-Fassi, in a book entitled "Women In Pre-Islamic Arabia", published by British Archaeological Reports.

The Serbs have an awfull knack of making the wrong decisions through history. The hell they went through in WWI is astonishing. They had the highest casualty rate of any country in that terrible war. They backed the wrong side again in WWII, then they backed the Communists after that. Then when Yuogoslavia broke up, they backed a Marxist-come-neo-fascist-racist. Bad mojo is for sure.

Yes they do seem to have that loser knack - and now their government is cozying up to the Russkies and alienating the U.S. and NATO with their latest antics over Kosovo, which hardly bodes well for the Serbian people.

In World War 2 they opposed the Nazis while their enemies jackbooted up. Stalin was not a good choice, but neither was Hitler.
This thing goes all the way back to the incursion of the Ottomen.
Serbs resisted & Albanians converted and helped to persecute Serbs.

From: "Hillary: the New Face of Communism"
(link in 684)

Perhaps the only thing more frightening than her Marxist beliefs is Hillary's push for a world government.

Before the Clintons retired from office, they had to get one more stab in the back of American sovereignty. They did just that by signing the U.N treaty to create the International Criminal's Court, or ICC.

The ICC's mission is to create a just world where "the International Criminal Court is universally accepted to try human rights cases if nations lack the will or ability to do so, and the International Court of Justice has Universal jurisdiction on disputes between nations."

Under its authority, American soldiers could be prosecuted and imprisoned for alleged war crimes. The ICC, however, is only the tip of the iceberg.

The ICC serves as the judicial branch for the powerful organization, Citizens for Global Solutions. Taxpayer funded and Hillary-endorsed, the Citizens for Global Solution's purpose is to unite the world under a single government system.

Its Web site blatantly declares that "the goal of the institute is the investigation and development of pragmatic proposals that would ultimately lead to the creation of a democratic global political system of a federal structure."

This includes world health care, universal disbarment and the creation of an international emergency police force to help spread democracy.

In truth, to help spread tyranny.

George Orwell's famous quote has never rung more true than now: "If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face -- forever."

A vote for Hillary is a vote to take America one step closer to the world that Orwell envisioned.

Fine words from "Frank Says" -

In every language, the first word after "Mama!" that every kid learns to say is "Mine!" A system that doesn't allow ownership, that doesn't allow you to say "Mine!" when you grow up, has -- to put it mildly -- a fatal design flaw. From the time Mr. Developing Nation was forced to read "The Little Red Book" in exchange for a blob of rice, till the time he figured out that waiting in line for a loaf of pumpernickel was boring as f*ck, took about three generations. ... Decades of indoctrination, manipulation, censorship and KGB excursions haven't altered this fact: People want a piece of their own little Something-or-Other, and, if they don't get it, have a tendency to initiate counterrevolution.

Mostly cause of the Bass player and the full tilt boogie nature of the performance! Saw him probably 15 years or more ago at Madison Square Garden during a FOUR HOUR concert tribute to Bob Dylan's 30 years in Music (do NOT ask me what the tickets cost, it was - still would be - an obscene amount of money) and he did two Dylan songs just absolutely perfectly.
Course, Tom Petty did a couple of Dylan tunes too, one of which I'd never heard of before and is even more fabuouls, lyrics-wise, than most of Mr. Dylan's songs, called "License to Kill". Course James Bond got in the way of me finding it on Imeem or I'd a played it for you! LOL!

re: #833 BabbaZee

Babba.....speaking of "not being all there".....I had the weirdest, similar-sort-of, experience yesterday:

My son-with-the-four-little-kids called from two hours out & asked if his wife & kids & her sister could come over for supper after they dropped him off at the Twins baseball game.............so little notice.....so little food in the house......(haven't had a vehicle since April 13).........all my poor-in-resources-except-for-the-One Great Resource :) kicked in, and I had a simple, but filling meal on the table when they arrived, and we discovered plenty of neat toys in the pile that is up here on the main floor, still not taken back down in storage when the basement was going to flood after the gas meter people broke the water pipe down there back in Dec. :) --so, the kids, and the two ladies :) , played happily for a couple of hours, and (and this is the point here....) I was so full of all the energy needed --until two minutes after they left! I could not believe how wiped out I was, so much so, I too could not sleep last night! I think I must be getting old.....sigh ):

/ :)

856 BabbaZee  Sat, May 3, 2008 7:20:59am

You say you love me
And you're thinkin' of me,
But you know you could be wrong.
You say you told me
That you wanna hold me,
But you know you're not that strong.

I just can't do what I done before,
I just can't beg you any more.

I'm gonna let you pass
And I'll go last.
Then time will tell
just who has fell
And who's been left behind,

When you go your way and I go mine.

You say you disturb me
And you don't deserve me,
But you know sometimes you lie.
You say you're shakin'
And you're always achin',
But you know how hard you try.
Sometimes it gets so hard to care,
It can't be this way ev'rywhere.
And I'm gonna let you pass,
Yes, and I'll go last.
Then time will tell just who fell
And who's been left behind,
When you go your way and I go mine.

The judge, he holds a grudge,
He's gonna call on you.
But he's badly built
And he walks on stilts,
Watch out he don't fall on you.

You say you're sorry
For tellin' stories
That you know I believe are true.
You say ya got some
Other kinda lover
And yes, I believe you do.
You say my kisses are not like his,
But this time I'm not gonna tell you why that is.
I'm just gonna let you pass,
Yes, and I'll go last.
Then time will tell who fell
And who's been left behind,
When you go your way and I go mine.

No. they are chemical burns and there is a lot of pain.

862 haakondahl  Sat, May 3, 2008 7:23:09am

America buying Hamas a real Army.

In theory, Palestinian security forces would assume the responsibility of preventing such attacks, and a test of that approach will come this summer when a 600-strong battalion of the Palestinian National Security Force completes a U.S.-financed training program in Jordan.

That sentence is from an International Herald Tribune article linked from Drudge, Israeli tactics collide with peace process

As aggravating as it is, the article looks like a stealth job. It draws the wrong conclusions, but the facts contained are more right-on and more, well, Right than we usually see. I am not attuned to the IHT, perhaps they are always like this. It reads like an article written from further right than it was edited and headlined.

Interesting, if aggravating, reading.

Good morning Phoenix. I never had allergy problems until I put my face through a car windshield in an accident. You're the second person who has recommended Claritan in the last three days. I've got to try something... this is ridiculous. Thanks.

Sometimes Claritin works for me and sometimes it does not. When it doesn't, I break out the big guns--FLONASE. This stuff is technically a steroid, and you just squirt n sniff to get it up into your nose.

The cells in your nose react to Histamine by releasing copious amounts of awful snot and whatnot. Histamine is produced by a limited number of cells which sense when you are under attack by various things, such as pepper, acrid farts, or ammonia. Anti-histamines work by preventing the cells in your nose from acting on the histamine they receive, or from sensing the histamine. FLONASE works by stunning the cells which detect attacks. So just stay away from the ammonia. Can;t help you with the gassy co-workers. Sorry.

FLONASE took me from literally debilitating hayfever (can't drive, can't type, very hard to breathe, hard to thin straight) to "Hayfever? WHAT hayfever!?" I cannot shut up about how much I love FLONASE. As you may have noticed.
