RetweetIslamic Hate Preacher Invited to Ohio School

Wed, May 14, 2008 at 5:36:13 pm PDT

This one is almost unbelievable, as the Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio hosts a lecture by one of the most notorious radical Islamic preachers in the world, sponsored by Dayton’s Masjid-at-Taqwa Islamic center: Islamic Hatred in the Heartland.

Khalid Yasin is one of the most notorious Islamic hate sheikhs in the world today. He had been widely condemned from the US to Britain to Australia for his virulent Wahhabist extremism, his intense anti-Americanism (despite the fact that he is an American-born convert), his justification of Islamic terrorism, his wild-eyed conspiracy theories, and his outright racial and religious bigotry. And an Australian news investigation found that Yasin had claimed academic degrees that the schools had no record or, and also discovered that he had engaged in outright fraud in his building his international Islamic media empire.

So it is troubling to see that Khalid Yasin will be lecturing at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio on May 16th, sponsored by Dayton’s Masjid-at-Taqwa.

For example, consider some of his stated positions and activities:

Yasin says that the US government was behind the 9/11 attacks.
Yasin claims that AIDS was invented at a US government lab and spread by Western governments through UN agencies and Christian missionaries.
Yasin advocates for the death penalty for homosexuality.
Yasin justified the terrorist bombings in Bali because of years of Western oppression.
Yasin says that the Quran permits wife-beating and that equal rights for women is a “delusion” and “foolishness”.
Yasin calls the beliefs of Christians and Jews “filth”.
Yasin says that Muslims cannot have non-Muslim friends.
Yasin rejects any separation between Islam and the state and openly advocates for the reestablishment of the caliphate.
Yasin visited Jemaah Islamiah terrorist leader Abu Bakar Bashir in prison.
Yasin has lectured with Hizb-ut-Tahrir hatemonger Omar Bakri Mohammed, who was banned from the UK in 2006.
Yasin was in Saudi Arabia on 9/11 soliciting the support of Al-Qaeda front Al-Haramain Foundation, which was designated a terrorist organization in 2004 by the US government, to help finance his Islamic Broadcasting Company,.

It is difficult to overstate the hatred, bigotry, misogyny and malicious conspiracy theories spewed by Khalid Yasin. So despicable is his warped ideology that he had been made a pariah by the international media and his views have been condemned by numerous government officials.

Well the Sharia is the cement that keeps all the bricks together. The Sharia is the legislative element. The Sharia is the judicial element. This is where rules, this is where juristic decisions, this is where the courts, this is where law. And I mean if you don’t have a people that is governed by Sharia, then you have a lawless people.

Well, that certainly explains why Somalia is a world economic superpower and the U.S. is a third world [expletive deleted]hole.

Yasin advocates for the death penalty for homosexuality.

Yasin says that the Quran permits wife-beating and that equal rights for women is a “delusion” and “foolishness”.

How any educational facility can host a speech given by someone who holds such repugnant, anti-liberal views is beyond me, but then again, they will probably spin this a la Columbia U, and say they should give a platform to all views in the spirit of free speech- or some such tripe.

OT ... I'm still thinking about an Obama-Edwards ticket as mentioned in the last thread.

Taegan Goddard believes that Edwards will be picked for the following reasons:
He's already been tested on the national stage and not likely to cause a distracting scandal.
He appeals to the same working class white voters that back Clinton.
He favors Obama's new brand of politics.
He could put North Carolina and possibly other Southern states in play.
Clinton would probably support him. With more than 1,700 delegates in Clinton's pocket, Obama needs to at least get her tacit approval if he wants to have a unified party.

In the comments, some are disagreeing vociferously. Quite interesting.

re: #59 snowcrash

You could be right. The flyer says this is the first of a series of public lectures on "developing the resources of our communities." (Plural theirs.) It is sponsored by Masjid Taqwa.

Taqwa is one of those slippery words that I find difficult to use/understand. Here's one biased definition:

Taqwa is one of the most profound concepts in Islam. Taqwa is an avenue by which Muslims relate to one another in society and a means to channel their actions. Because of the great importance of taqwa, it has been referred to numerous times in the Qur'an and Sunnah in order to emphasize its relevance and significance to the Muslims.

Allah (swt) strongly emphasizes the rewards of people with taqwa in this life and the Hereafter. It is these muttaqeen that Allah (swt) grants assistance, victory and provides for. Thus, understanding the concept of taqwa is vital and mandatory for every Muslim.

Unfortunately, this is the very concept which the Muslims have left behind, as a result of faulty education. The disbelievers in the distant past, as well as in present times, have understood the importance of taqwa and the Islamic creed, and how it could jeopardize their interests. They realized how taqwa and the Islamic creed ('aqeedah) were the roots of power to the Muslims. Thus they began to warp and dilute it by adding Greek, Persian and Hindu ideas and philosophies to it. Eventually, the Muslims began to incorporate the false ideas of the body and soul, and their interrelationship, into the original, pristine Islamic concept of taqwa.

As a result, Muslims started portraying a person possessing taqwa as a soft-spoken, elevated, calm, pious, spiritual person, adorned with a certain type of holy attire. A picture of a person who over emphasizes prayer, fasting, and things such as donating to the masjid, while living a secluded and isolated life would be the one with taqwa, even though the same person would deal with usury, lie and sell alcohol. They began manufacturing their own version of taqwa and fed this false sentiment to the Ummah.

Folks, look at some of the points:

Yasin advocates for the death penalty for homosexuality.

Yasin says that the Quran permits wife-beating and that equal rights for women is a “delusion” and “foolishness”.

Yasin calls the beliefs of Christians and Jews “filth”.

Yasin says that Muslims cannot have non-Muslim friends.

Yasin rejects any separation between Islam and the state and openly advocates for the reestablishment of the caliphate.

These are all simply traditional, orthodox interpretations of Islam. In particular, the second point comes from 4.34 of the Qur'an. The third comes from 9.28. The fourth comes from 5.51. The fifth comes from 24.55.

Not saying this guy should be allowed to speak, but it's a disservice to say that all of this guys' views are "warped." Indeed, at least on these issues, he's one of the few Muslims in the West speaking the truth about Islam's traditional/orthodox interpretation.

Sharmuta -

Obviously, the speaker is NOT familiar with mathematics. He confuses the concept of "EQUALITY" with that of "CONGRUENCE" the difference is something like the difference of 3=3 versus 3(of X) "is 'zackly the same as" 3(of Y)."
MEN and WOMEN are EQUAL - they are not - "THE SAME" - Thank G-d! Problem with MUSLIM belief is a fear that equality = the same. Yo, Muslims, get with the program, Equality is NOT Sameness, it is just - as the Old Ecclesiastical Courts would have said "EQUITY!"

I can understand being friendly with someone who thinks differently about things than I do, pretty much everyone has to be able to do that. But that doesn't mean I'm their friend. I refuse to be and see no logical reason to be friendly with or friends with someone who believes in the destruction of America or someone who believes in harming innocent people. Trolls usually take banning in stride, it's their life's destiny. It's the enraged mobys who realize that they've been exposed that go off the deep end. Speaking of prayers, I posted an emergency request for some earlier today when my daughter logged on to one of her bank accounts to find somebody had hacked the thing and the money (and access to all of her accounts) was disappearing before her very eyes.

Thanks to all who responded. The situation is resolved. She managed to undo all the changes to the accounts as fast as the perp made them, the financial institutions involved tracked down all of the money and it is now safely back where it belongs, the accounts are all newly secure and the perp was kind enough to leave traceable info (linked in their own credit card, paid bills with the money, etc.) for the police.

I see no difference between this would be terrorist and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. I also think that in the present "see no evil" social climate that KSM could soon walk right out of Guantonomo and immediately capitalize on the university lecture circuit. All of this is shameful beyond words while remaining completely acceptable in most circles.

Many, many years ago I had a 6th grade teacher that said such things were possible and would happen in America. He was discussing the rise of fascism. I was a young and appropriately naive member of his incredulous audience and was so astonished by such a thought that I remember it yet today.

She should be getting the report from the financial institution with all of the information they garnered tomorrow and will be immediately filing a complaint with the FBI, so it should not take long. It was a LOT of money.

re: #176 galloping granny

That is WONDERFUL news! Thank G-d for stupid criminals!

I think even fox news is afraid of the influence of the blogosphere, so I doubt we'll see any love from them because blogs ARE the competition these days. The propaganda organs of radical islam are already deeply embedded in this country, keyed around education and federal executive branch offices that are dominated by careerists. The social organs are one step behind, and the political apparatus is being put solidly in place. The next step is the widespread radicalization of the population. We think we are beyond all that. I can't afford not to pay attention to what they do, even if much of it pisses me off big-time.

And I'm glad there are Lizards who do that! But, I first noticed how cutting edge they weren't when my favorite segment on my favorite show on fox was behind my times. I loved The Grapevine on Brit Hume, but when I had already heard all of the "gossip" because of reading LGF- well- there wasn't much point in it for me anymore. More and more people are turning to the internet for their news, and the traditional media outlets are understandably worried. They should be.

However- it's sad the H & C couldn't do their own research and discover this for themselves. They're using other people's research, and it's disingenuous of them to claim credit instead of giving credit where it's due. Again- it's my opinion that it's because they don't want to legitimize the blogosphere to their viewers. But, I guess, in a roundabout way- it's a complement.

History yesterday in Baseball.

Only the 14th time it's happened.

An unassisted triple play.

I did one of those in little league. Caught a line drive as short stop. Tagged second where the runner had left. Tagged the oblivious runner coming from first. End of inning. Didn't realize how lucky I was or I probably would have appreciated it a little more.

The weirdest I've ever seen. The second baseman takes a line drive just off the infield and jogs over to step on second to catch the runner off base. Then he realizes that the guy that was on first and was running on the pitch has overrun second and given up on the play, thinking the inning is over. Two more steps and a tag, three outs, see ya.

To add to the question of whether or not paying to attend the lecture is tax deductible..

Refreshments will be served!

I think that negates the event from being tax deductible.

Like the Ushers Club dinner dance or the Vegas Night or the bus trip to the Tiger's game with the Church.. Just because an event is sponsored by a Church does not make the cost of attending the event tax deductible. Hardly.

So the Mosque is inviting people to cheat on their taxes. RICO!

Try "PHONICS" - or Moreso - Lack of Same. I was reading, if not understanding everything in the LATIN alphabet at the age of 3. I thank my Aunt Martha, my mother's older sister, for this. She is one of the unsung great heroines of the 20th Century. As I got older she also taught me the PHONICS of the Cyrillic alphabet - her first language (Russian). I picked up Greek from the Cyrillic and Hebrew from Hebrew School. Understanding how sounds are read gives one "the code" for a language.
After that vocabulary and grammar will follow.

Section 1182(a)(9)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act31 provides that immigrants coming to the United States who practise polygamy are a "class of excludable aliens who are ineligible to receive visas and who shall be excluded from admission into the United States." The United States Immigration and Naturalization Service will not grant a Permanent Resident Card or citizenship to anyone lacking "good moral character" during the statutory period.32 The determination will be made that an applicant lacks "good moral character" if, among other grounds, the applicant "has practiced or is practicing polygamy." Hmmm...are you thinking about the Brady Bunch kid who had a thing for Mrs> Brady, maybe?

I realized the same thing:

I was making a Johnny "Jihad" Walker joke (colleges teaching radicalism as opposed to core curricula) but your post is cool nonetheless...

We had a Ukrainian family living accross the street. Grandma knew six languages but felt she was too old to learn English. We smiled at each other a lot, exchanged flower starts and she offered us Vodka toasts frequently. We tried to explain through her granddaughters that Mormons (not the polygamist fundamentalist kind - just your run of the mill tea totalling, missionary dispersing, tabernacle choir singing kind) don't drink but we appreciated her offer. We toasted with water a couple of times.

Okay lizardoids, I'm back from the Chicago Public Library. Astonishingly, they don't have any copies of Trumpet -- BUT -- thanks to the very friendly librarian, I know which libraries do have copies. Only seven (!) in the entire country have the magazine in stock, and I don't know if they have any copies that pre-date March 2006. Anyway, here are the libraries that have it:

Library of Congress (we knew that already) in DC
Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI
The Luhr Library at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO
Princeton University
New York Public Library
Ramapo Catskill Library System serving Ulster, Sullivan, Orange, and Rockland counties, NY
Central State University in Wilberforce, OH, outside Dayton

So, any of you who live near one of these libraries, please go and see what copies they have, xerox or scan them, and send them to Charles.

I have done a tremendous amount of research on this man, and one of the most amazing things I found was his remarks in his books, "Dreams Of My Father", and "The Audacity of Hope" which I checked out from the library.
His admiration for Islam and the disdain for the white race was disturbing. It is all there and it can't be taken out of context. Yet, nobody has/will call him on it.
This stranger came out of nowhere with his flowery speeches that his handlers have given him, promising America great things- without specifying how -and droves hang on every word, believe every word and follow without question. If anyone dares to question, they are shouted down with 'Racist'! Bigot'!
This is very very frightening.
It's time to get the message out to a naive public who are jumping on the "black JFK", "camelot","change", "take back America" bandwagon, without questioning who this man is, questioning his past, his present associates and backers and his agenda.
The remarks from his books are very, very disturbing. Again, the remarks are there- and they are NOT taken out of context.
Example:
Quote from Barack Obama's book, Dreams Of My Father:
"The person who made me proudest of all, though, was [half brother] Roy .. He converted to Islam."

From 'Dreams of my Father', "In Indonesia, I had spent two years at a Muslim school"
"I studied the Koran.."
From 'Audacity of Hope: "Lolo (Obama's step father) followed a brand of Islam ..."I looked to Lolo for guidance".
From 'The Audacity Of Hope, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
From The Audacity Of Hope, "We are no longer just a Christian nation," "We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers."
From Dreams of My Father, " I FOUND A SOLACE IN NURSING A PERVASIVE SENSE OF GRIEVANCE AND ANIMOSITY AGAINST MY MOTHER'S RACE".
From 'Dreams of my Father', "The emotion between the races could never be pure... the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart."
From 'Dreams of My Father',
"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites"
From Dreams Of My Father, "never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself..".
From Dreams Of My Father:
"That hate hadn't gone away," he wrote, blaming "white people — some cruel, some ignorant, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives."

This information was taken from here.

One at a time. Slow and steady wins the race as they say. I suspect that Obama and Company do not realize how very polarizing he is - or they discount it highly. My family is 100% united in our choice of 2008 presidential candidate across the board, for the first time in more than 50 years: NOT OBAMA. And not whoever runs as a spoiler. It really does hinder professional communication. The out and out crude or intentional slurs aren't cool in any context, but having to second guess every phrase that could ever have had a negative meaning (regardless of current meaning or context) really kills open communication. It is annoying and serves as a handy excuse for some people to avoid real issues (i.e. If I take offense at an unintended insult then perhaps we can avoid having to discuss my real positions on issues).

If I may change the topic a bit...

Looks like the US ambassador to Zimbabwe is someone not easily intimidated:

...[V]iolence in Zimbabwe

The British Ambassador to Zimbabwe and three other Western diplomats were intercepted and detained by police yesterday as they tried to investigate the violence being inflicted on Zimbabwe’s rural population since the elections in March.

Andrew Pocock was held with the American, Japanese and European Union Ambassadors, on a rural road about 90 miles (150km) north of the capital, Harare.
[...]
Two police vehicles parked across the road to stop the convoy and were quickly reinforced by senior police officers and state security agents.

Kevin Stirr, the US Embassy’s democracy and governance officer, was asked by a security agent what the group had been doing. “Looking at people who have been beaten,” he said. The Central Intelligence Organisation agent replied: “We are going to beat you thoroughly, too”, before turning away and returning to his car. Mr Stirr pulled open the door and shouted at him.

The two agents in the vehicle tried to flee, but James McGee, the US Ambassador, stood in their path. When they tried to push him away with the car, he sat heavily on the bonnet. He went on to take photographs of the agents, who were trying to hide their faces.

Mugabe doesn't want to leave (surprised?) I am somewhat heartened though that the diplomatic corp of several nations are not push overs.

I agree with that. Here is why.

Islam can only propagate in an an environment of ignorance. But the lack of education that Islam requires in its subjects prevents them from competing successfully in the world market. The stronger Islam's influence over a society, the more ignorant and destitute it will become, thus it can never "take over".

Judge Avern Cohn justified the criminal behavior, saying the Hezbollah double agent simply “erred in judgment.” Then he fined her $975 and let her go because she has provided “exemplary service to the country.”

re: #496 formercorpsman

Agreed... I am stunned at the moral equivelancy that is accepted by our culture. As though an intolerent word is as hurtful as the loss of life or liberty. It is amazing that our cherished freedom of speech (including the cost suffering its abuses for the sake of its freedoms) is so terribly eroded.

The mentality of "if we're only nice enough, or good enough to others they will like us" is potentially suicidal. I'm the kind of guy who would suffer a lot to make someone else comfortable or safe, but voluntary decorum and respect is a far cry from forced obedience to a political ideology (especially when those seeking to do the enforcing think nothing of individual life or liberty).

Well tonight John Edwards endorsed Obama and since - I gather, I wasn't here at the time - Edwards was a popular U.S. Senator from North Carolina, I think that bolsters my argument that Obama might take North Carolina in the general election.

Completely OT:

In response to the Department of the Interior's announcement that it is adding the polar bear to its list of threatened species due to gorbal warming, Sen. Stevens, R-Alaska did observe:

I am disappointed and disturbed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision to weaken the Endangered Species Act by listing the polar bear as threatened despite the steady increase in the species’ population. Scientists have observed that there are now three times as many polar bears in the Arctic than there were in the 1970s.

Never before has a species been listed as endangered or threatened while occupying its entire geographic range.

All very true based on "firefighters eye" I'd call the construction concrete vs. steel framed based on the external appearance. Poured columns and floors.

Which actual makes a collapse more unusual. It takes a long fire to structurally degrade concrete.

Still, you've got a significant structure collapsing under fire stress without the mechanical damage of 9/11.

Am I reading into this too much, or is this a deliberate attempt by AP to lie to people via a double-meaning title to an article:

Obama appeals to working class whites in Michigan

Does this mean Obama appeals to working class whites as in he is attractive or interesting to them or does this mean he is making an earnest or urgent request of help from them? Oh yeah, I know it is the request for their help, but hey...the title could be taken either way and since Obama is having trouble with working class whites, it seems rather suspicious they are using that particular wording... Oh well...

Either way, Union folks are straight-up jackasses. They will vote for Obama because he's a democrat but they should know full well what liberal democrats want to do with Detroit's auto industry and that can't be good for business.

Speaking of science, the most interesting science story today, I believe, is this:
Physicists Demonstrate How Information Can Escape From Black Holes

In the 1970s, Hawking showed that black holes evaporate by quantum processes; however, he asserted that information, such as the identity of matter that is gobbled up by black holes, is permanently lost. At the time, Hawking's assertion threatened to turn quantum mechanics--the most successful physical theory posited by humankind--on its head, since a fundamental tenet of the theory is that information cannot be lost.

Hawking's idea was generally accepted by physicists until the late 1990s, when many began to doubt the assertion. Even Hawking himself renounced the idea in 2004. Yet no one, until now, has been able to provide a plausible mechanism for how information might escape from a black hole.

Perhaps a bit abstract of a topic... but news in physics on the whole can be kind of obtuse.

Years ago, Hawking bet Penrose that information is lost in black holes.
A couple of years ago Hawking said that he is wrong, the info isn't lost, and conceded the bet with Penrose.

When I was an undergrad, I read Hawking's paper "On the Thermodynamics of Black Holes"

From the article:

To conduct their studies, the team used a two-dimensional model of black holes to investigate the quantum nature of real black holes, which exist in four dimensions. That's because two-dimensional systems are simpler to study mathematically. But because of the close similarities between two-dimensional black holes and spherical four-dimensional black holes, the team believes that this approach is a general mechanism that can be applied in four dimensions. The group now is pursuing methods for directly studying four-dimensional black holes.

Why are they saying "four-dimensional" black holes?

Are they counting "time" as the "fourth" dimension?

Thanks. That was the only thing I could think of to make any sense of that.

Now since time, by this argument, should be thought of as being made up of blocks, and not as a continuum, we could graph this out by drawing the x,y and z axis, and then pouring a cup of really black coffee on it.

They probably feel that getting information from the blogs is pretty much like reading it somewhere or that they Have done their own research by finding it in the blogs. Just a thought.

I was intrigued by the reference to polygamy in Germany.

This is what I found so far.

The French have not been very successful with their plan and in the "No Go" like St-Denis (a suburb of Paris) zones polygamy is commonplace.

One of the unintended consequences of such social systems is the high number of marriages between first cousins with all the consequent mental problems.

771 tuptian  Thu, May 15, 2008 6:32:33am

In the "Age of Change" perhaps Yasin can make a trip over to Trinity church and have lunch with "Rev." Wright and search for new converts. I would not expect any radical group protesting the steward of extreme hate as they would not want to be labeled Islamophobic.

re: #765 fedupbrit

"What is wrong with these incredibly stupid, purile people to invite this terrorist vandal to a civilised society."

Part of what is wrong is that illiterate people are given jobs as administrators at all sorts of colleges - not just community colleges. This morning I got an e-mail response from a Sinclair staff member (I forwarded the article to the college president and several key staff members) I will not repeat his name (I'm sincerely not into humiliating people .. and aside from that, I'm afraid he's done a fine job all by himself).

First he wrote, "What the heck is this?". I responded with another question, "Isn't it clear and obvious" and took a key line from the article to underline my query. Here's his response, verbatim: "I agree too that.  I am puzzled to know that Sinclair would even allow such a person to conduct a lecture on campus.  That is what I meant like, what the heck is this, how could Sinclair allow that to take place?"

This is more than cringe inducing; it's horrifying.

This was my response:
"The rest of the country is wondering the same thing, Mr. (blankety blank). You're in the unique position of being able to walk down the hall and ask fellow staff members and the college President the exact same question you asked me. I'm not having an Al Quaeda supporter come to my house, but it sure looks like Sinclair Community has chosen to do just that. Ask around and find out." M.D.
