Friday Night Video: Pork and Beans

Fri, May 23, 2008 at 6:06:17 pm PDT

A stupidly great video for an average Weezer song, perfect for a slow news Friday Night on a Memorial Day weekend, from the upcoming Red Album.

Charles, I just saw that song on YouTube about 15 minutes ago, and I thought of you.

When I was looking for "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas.

8 Slumbering Behemoth  Fri, May 23, 2008 6:12:11pm

I went with someone to go see a Weezer show (so that person wouldn't have to go alone) and was really impressed with their live performance.

They truly rock hard on stage. I am not a fan, but I wouldn't be apposed to seeing them live again.

9 Arbalest  Fri, May 23, 2008 6:12:22pm

The 2-liter soda bottle fountain timing and choreography is impressive. They did use club soda, right?

My Beans are "Vegetarian" - though I am NOT. They are "PARVE" this Lag 'B (L') Omer, (two gimmels = 33) as they are all year. Truthfully, there is NOT enough PORK in Pork 'n' Beans to make MUCH of a difference in taste or otherwise - YES I HAVE CHEATED HERE AND THERE. When "P&Beans" actually have some "P" in them - CALL ME BACK. That is all.

Their live performance is pretty impressive. They rocked their songs a lot harder than what I was expecting based on what I've heard on the radio. There was a pretty serious mosh pit going, even. Had I not spent all day drinking beer in the hot sun I might have jumped in.

Bad, bad storms. Greensburg is in the path of what the Weather Channel says looks to be an EF-5, the strongest tornado. That's the same area that was flattened last year. To the north, Hays--a place near and dear to my heart--is about to get hit. There's another one between--from what I can tell--between Greensburg and Hays, near Dodge City.

Peggy Noonan is especially good today, dishing out an awesome bitch slapping to Hillary. My favorite part:

Mrs. Clinton's supporters are now complaining about the Hillary nutcrackers sold at every airport shop. Boo hoo. If Golda Meir, a woman of not only proclaimed but actual toughness, heard about Golda nutcrackers, she would have bought them by the case and given them away as party favors.

Not from CO but a home rule city is usually a city of a certain size that by statute can make certain decisions for itself that otherwise would be controlled by the state (if they choose to select home rule status).

Which poochface is that? I've seen Lightening, but...

He (she?) reminds me of my *old man*, Magnum Force of Montague, aka Booger Boy. He is the Best Boy That Ever Was™, a 12-year-old Chocolate Lab, and the great love of my life.

That's my dog that died Oct. 1 from stomach cancer. She was going on 11 years old, and I'd had her since she was about 7 or 8 weeks old (a gift from my old college room-mate to cheer me up after my mother died). She was a great dog, and I miss her very much... ;(

So that's where my hubby's laptop is. It has been in the shop for three months! Luckily he has a loaner.

/They must be sending it back on a slow boat from China India! ;)

I was tutored by my daughter on her first laptop years ago..I was, and still am totally unable to use it! She later sent me this in an email.

{CtP} I know that feeling too well, I'm afraid. Our wonderful furbabies leave us far too soon.

I got in BIG trouble in Sunday School once for insisting that dogs go to Heaven. Teacher didn't agree. But, I said, they are the best thing God ever made! They HAVE to go to Heaven!

/I haven't changed my opinion.

That was a cool Weezer video. Lots of blogosphere inside jokes. I watch a lot of Weezer on YouTube. One of my favorite bands. Beverly Hills is really good. Same for Say it Aint so. I think that Hash Pipe is one of their best songs, but the video is pretty dumb. A great nightcap is Island in the Sun. Lots more out there.

Sorry about that, your post got linked with my message to hermeneutics. It is tough to separate a post that commiserates with one poster and celebrates with another. Life can be a bitch sometimes, but we must move on.

I'm with you -- I refuse to believe that love like that ends at any time, and it wouldn't be Heaven without my dogs.

I am very sorry to hear that. I am really awful when it comes to words of comfort, so... {hermeneutics}

Weezer is like a banana split - not super-complicated, not avant garde, but they always make me feel good.

I will! My post @ #206 was meant for you. My machine sometimes has a mind of it's own. I've been thru a similar experience and my heart goes out to you! May the good Lord embrace you and provide you the strength to endure the pain of your burdens. I will remember you in my prayers. I will pass on the advice I gave to Grammy Cracker in post #211:

I can totally understand, others cannot. Those who have not travelled the path do not understand the journey.

I do understand and I do sympathize. Peace, I hope you find it.

Me too. Every song they do is cool.

Hahaha- loved the K-Fed. And the lightsabers.

229 LouMinatti  Fri, May 23, 2008 9:55:04pm

Weezer rules. Pinkerton is their best album/CD.

Not there yet, moving in a couple of weeks. Just graduated and taking a little time to breathe.

What an awesome idea to make a video out of....the song is pretty crappy but I don't think many people actually listened to it while watching the video.

re: #24 Charles

By the way, "average" isn't a put-down for a Weezer song. Their average is anyone else's "stupidly great."

this.

235 Challenger  Sat, May 24, 2008 9:45:07am

I love Weezer. They rock.

236 joegosox  Sat, May 24, 2008 12:36:03pm

I remember hearing The Sweater Song following a

Hootie and the Blowfish

song when it came out.
Just to put things in perspective.
