Video: Obama Campaign Passing Out Fake 'Homemade' Signs

Sat, Jun 21, 2008 at 4:55:40 pm PDT

Have you noticed all those signs at Barack Obama rallies that look like hand-lettered, home-crafted messages from honest-to-goodness grass roots supporters?

They’re fakes. Terry Ann Online: Passing out the signs at the Obama rally.

At least the openly communist Communists had well-made, if blocky and monochrome signs.

When someone from the campaign was coming toward my direction with a sign that said "Tejanos for Obama," I held to my camcorder tightly because I didn't want to be holding a sign just because I'm Hispanic.

You know, you just KNOW, that if McCain did this it would be shouted to the rooftops. But Obama gets a giant pass.

Just like that supposedly "biggest ever political rally" which was actually a free concert by the Decemberists which Obama just happened to show up at. But no one in the MSM talked about it being a concert.

Remember that scene where Tinkerbell is so angry she flies through a leaf and it burns to a crisp? That's me sitting here in my chair.

How could the great and powerful Obama come up with such a ruse? Doesn't he already have a huge groundswell of supporters with their own signs? (And giant puppets!) Things sure have CHANGEd.

When I worked an event for George H.W. Bush's re-election campaign in 1992, we were given instructions to take away any of the home-made signs (whether anti-Bush or not) people were trying to bring into the event. Particularly any that had sticks attached, as they could be a security risk.

I am no fan of the Obama, but this is not that big a deal. Campaigns of every stripe and kind do this kind of thing all the time.

You need readable attractive-looking sings at your rallies, and if you only used those hand-made by the vols and assorted bats who staff the sign-making tables at campaign HQ, you couldnt use 1 in a 100.

How could the great and powerful Obama come up with such a ruse? Doesn't he already have a huge groundswell of supporters with their own signs? (And giant puppets!) For what reason could they be making up signs and handing them out? Could it be that Obama doesn't want true signs of his supporters behind him?

Interesting point. He really doesn't need a bunch of Daily Ko[o]s-[Oom] creeps holding signs straight out of Zombietime's Hall of Shame.

re: #223 Cali White Bear

ofcourse campaigns make signs to hand out, the way they make garden signage and bumperstickers-- the POINT is (besides protuding out of the middle of BHussein's head) that HIS campaign made signs that are supposed to LOOK grassroots/homemade to give the ILLUSION that "just folks" (workers, housewives, children) think he's their man and they all MADE their OWN signs to show this.

Fake --like every single thing about this man.

It's not the most important thing to find abhorrent, no. But, as any attorney would tell you, it goes to FRAME OF MIND, to motive, to character-- or in his case, lack of character.

The man is a trojan horse. Inside all that shuck-n-jive is something that will destroy America, from the inside out.
He's not stupid or naive. He knows exactly what he's doing. Starting with his Weather Underground friends and campaign hosts to his Muslim financial buddy Rezko to his America-hating sugar daddy, Soros, to his race-baiting, hatefilled spiritual mentor, kookoo-Wright.

The dots all connect. The picture is a dangerous one.

Because of the very "New Class" profession I'm in, people I meet professionally automatically assume I'm rooting as hard for zer0bama as they do, and start ranting to me about this. I generally steer the conversation away from politics as fast as I can, but some people just cannot let go. Pleading the Fifth Amendment doesn't always work either ;-)

Since Illinois will go for the zer0bama anyhow (even McGovern carried his own state), I have very little incentive to try changing anybody's mind, at least locally.

re: #229 LeonidasOfSparta

It's not the most important thing to find abhorrent, no. But, as any attorney would tell you, it goes to FRAME OF MIND, to motive, to character-- or in his case, lack of character.

That a professional politician would be an egomaniac and power-hungry is, to me, a given. But this sn0bama is exceptional even by those standards. He's a chip right off his biological father's/sperm donor's block (judging from what I read about him)
* [at least superficially] flashy intelligence: check [Don't forget BHO Sr. did get a Harvard Ph.D. before "affirmative action".]
* all-consuming ambition and hubris [which eventually led to BHO Sr.'s downfall]: check
* smooth blarney artist: check
* good looks that make the ladies (and certain men) swoon: check
* leftist (not just liberal) leanings: check

As for "the gift of gab": I know quite a few academics who are extremely articulate when they can think their sentences over (on paper, while preparing for a lecture) but speak like er-Bama when forced to think on their feet. Does that mean they are stupid? Of course not. It does go to show you that whatever skills are required to be, say, a lecturer in law or a professor of physics do not necessarily translate to being a successful CEO of a company, let alone running the mightiest nation on Earth. Or conversely, for that matter. I know very well that the very things that make me successful at my day job would make me unsuitable for any form of elected office.

I wonder if these "home-made" signs are billed (cost) the same as professionally done signs? Somebody could make a mint here.

I still have not seen ONE John McCain sign in Winston-Salem, NC. Obama, and Hillary signs, are still scattered out in almost every neighborhood. Visually, I feel like I'm living in a world of fools and idiots who continue to follow the group instead of discovering the truth for themselves. But when I take in the Space Between, houses without Obama signs, I'm suddenly overwhelmed with optimism again and blood pressure returns to normal.

236 pittrader1988  Sun, Jun 22, 2008 7:05:19am

nothing new here. campaigns have been doing this for years. no doubt, when it's found out it will be a right wing conspiracy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you back McCain, it is critical to put a yard sign up early.
Network effects are critical to a campaign. If your neighbors are on the fence, and see a sign, it will cause them to think.

BTW, Obama is very smart. He is a Chicago politician. They have no trouble lying, cheating or stealing. They have no problem throwing sharp elbows, being dirty and accusing the other side of being dirty and making it stick.

Duping millions of Americans into thinking he's something he's not. How does he sleep at night?

By changing his mattress everyday and throwing the old one under the bus.

Obviously his supporters can't read or spell so it's up to BIG GOVERNMENT (OBAMANATION) to give them signs, just like the Obamanation will give them benefits. Just a small preview of the nanny state under the Obamanation.

I keep expecting the Up With People tour bus to drive up and smiling moonbats to come out dancing and singing.

Future captives who favor a weak military for Obama.

Oh no, communists favor a strong military... when they ruling class uses it against the citizens.

I think of the "home-made signs" like I think of "home-made pie" signs I see at restaurants. Don't fall for it.

Good job, TerryAnnOnline!

They might have swiped the idea from Eugene Burdick's novel, The 480. There the candidate's handlers arrange signs that appear as if they were created spontaneously on the backs of signs of the opposing candidate--as if his supporters had suddenly switched their allegiance to someone they recognize as the superior candidate. It is planned in advance.

Whatevs. Mass producing "homemade" signs is a common campaign practice. There was a quick segment about it in Journeys With George the hilarious (and even-handed!) HBO documentary about Bush's 2000 campaign made by - of all people - Nancy Pelosi's daughter, Alexandra. Netflix the crap out of it.

249 Ledger1  Sun, Jun 22, 2008 7:47:28pm

I pity the poor trees that were ground-up and used for all those “homemade” Obama signs.

These signs are straight out of the Entertainment Industries Playbook.
My step-son goes to various kid events here in the Los Angeles area. And I usually end up taking him and sitting around.
Disney Games, Nick, Kids Choice Awards etc...
The Production folks will not allow kids to bring in homemade signs...so the Production people make the signs...then pass them out to all the willing kids. Most the kids think that by holding the sign and waving it around...that they might get the camera panned towards them.
