More Presidential Seal Imagery at Obama Site

One of those posts we pointed out earlier at the official Barack Obama Community Blogs site has now vanished down the memory hole.

But if you watch closely as the now-vanished page loads, you can see something else that’s very interesting: Barack Obama : : Change We Can Believe In | Invalid URL.

The page background image is quickly covered up by a content box, but the image they’re using is actually another version of the Obama faux Presidential Seal. Subliminal imagery? Say it ain’t so, BHO!

Whether or not they intended this to subtly hypnotize the masses (maybe that explains the glassy eyes and Chris Matthews’ tingling legs?), this is clear evidence that the knock-off of the Presidential Seal was no accident, and no fluke—it’s a theme.

(Hat tip: LGF readers.)

UPDATE at 6/24/08 5:24:06 pm:

From a web design standpoint this is interesting, because there’s no reason to put an image in that area when it’s only going to be quickly covered up by the page content. A complex background image adds significantly to page download time and bandwidth. At a site intended to handle millions of page views a day, these unnecessary bytes just don’t make a lot of sense. Unless they’re for a purpose.

Are they really going for a subliminal effect?
