Straight Outta Gitmo

Fri, Jun 27, 2008 at 2:20:32 pm PDT

A former Guantanamo Bay detainee, Abdullah Salih al Ajmi has been identified as the Al Qaeda operative who conducted a suicide truck bombing in Mosul: Released Guantanamo detainee behind March suicide truck bombing at Combat Outpost Inman in Mosul.

A former Kuwaiti Guantanamo Bay detainee conducts a suicide attack in Mosul

Two Kuwaiti al Qaeda operatives who conducted suicide attacks were featured at the end of the video. Abu Omar al Kuwaiti, also known as Badr Mishel Gama’an al Harbi, and Abu Juheiman al Kuwaiti, also known as Abdullah Salih al Ajmi, are both shown on the video, along with their attacks in Mosul, said Kazimi.

Harbi, who claimed to be a “veteran of the jihad in Afghanistan,” conducted a suicide car bomb attack on a police station in Mosul on April 26, 2008.

Ajmi was released from Guantanamo Bay and was searching for “a way to reconnect with the jihad.” He claimed he was tortured while at Guantanamo Bay.

Ajmi “is seemingly responsible for an earlier truck bombing at the Iraqi Army HQ in the Harmat neighborhood of Mosul on March 23, 2008,” said Kazimi. The attack occurred at Combat Outpost Inman, an Iraqi Army base that served as the headquarters for the 1st Battalion, 3rd Brigade of the 2nd Iraqi Army Division.

Flashback to last week:

Justice Antonin Scalia offered a chilling observation about last week's 5-4 Supreme Court ruling that terror suspects currently being held at Guantanamo Bay have a constitutional right to challenge their detention in federal court. The decision, which is based on a fundamental misreading of the Constitution and existing case law, "will almost certainly cause more Americans to be killed," Scalia wrote in a blistering dissent, joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas.

A buddy of mine in the SF was almost blown away by a Taliban hidden in a false wall. He caught the guy before the guy could blow him away (he said it was an old, very high caliber, hunting rifle that would've gone through both kevlar plates.) Two days later he saw the same guy meandering around a village, scot free.

After that, he said "no more prisoners."

What we ought to do is release them into the very environment that they came from - a battlefield environment.

Heck - we can even give them a 10 second running start because we are such good sports.

Treating unlawful combatants like jaywalkers (or like lawful combatants) is madness. No nation involved in WWII was self-destructive enough to behave like this.

A president with a backbone would have responded to the Habeus Corpus ruling by declaring that our armed forces were henceforth prohibited from taking unlawfuls prisoner.

Too bad we can't have one of those.

47 akak  Fri, Jun 27, 2008 2:45:22pm
An article recently posted in Sada Al-Jihad (Echo of Jihad) magazine and posted on several Muslim websites, discusses the September 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S. as having influenced the decline in the dollar. It also cited the cost of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan as draining the American economy.

Another recent posting stated, "The dollar can expect two additional blows that will break its back... [namely] the announcement of the return of the [religious rule of the] Caliphate..." and the reinstatement of the gold standard in international monetary trade. It urged Mujahideen "to get rid of American dollars" before an "imminent" terrorist attack that "will put an end to the so-called United States of America and destroy its economy completely."

I guess the Scotus decision leaves little choice for our solders, catch and release puts them in further danger, so kill and release is the better option.

Of course, Murtha will want to try every one of them for war crimes after they kill during combat, this is a sad state of affirs. Screw you Scotus 5!

It's very bizarre how so many lefties romanticize the Guantanamo prisoners. My friend seemed utterly convinced that the only reason we don't want to release them is because we don't want the world to see how many innocent people we're torturing. A moonbatty friend of mine not long ago asked me, in all seriousness,"How many Muslim Nelson Mandela's do you think we are torturing at Guantanamo?".

I'm not a Nelson Mandela worshiper, since he puts his pants on one leg at a time like everyone else, but before he went to prison, as a saboteur against the rulers, he went after property, not people, and actually actively tried NOT to harm people. When he was released from prison, he did positive things for equality rather than blowing people up for submission, so my answer to that question would be zero.

It's a he actually...and he pointed to a book he was reading by a British Gitmo detainee about his experiences of torture and degridation at the hand of Americans while at Guantanamo.

I think this is the book: Enemy Combatant: A British Muslim's Journey to Guantanamo and Back

129 David IV of Georgia  Fri, Jun 27, 2008 3:26:40pm

When asked, all the detainees in Gitmo claim to have been tortured.

I used to volunteer in a prison.

On rare occasions, they would speak openly about some of the crimes they committed. Robbery, assault, fraud, and anything else you can name. It was rare for anyone, no matter how much crime they admitted doing, to say they were guilty of the crime they were convicted of.

I'll always remember on man's admission of guilt (name changed):

"Go on, ask Leroy why he's in here."

"Leroy, why are you here?"

"Farmin'."

[laughter]

"Farming?"

"Yeah. The DEA took an interest in what I had growin' in my corn field—'ceptin' th' corn."

No, what seperates us from the monsters is our ability to realise that killing for the sake of killing is wrong, that killing innocents is wrong. However, on a battlefield, in the heat of battle, taking prisiners, and then releasing them so that they can fight you again is stupidity. Self preservation dictates that if you are in a war, you fight to kill. Taking prisoners is antiproductive and puts your soldiers in more jeopardy.

If we were fighting a normal war, where prisinors are treated normally, then its ok to take prisoners. When they take prisiners they end up sans head. There is no humanity on their part, I do not see the need to return humanity to barbarians.

Dateline January 28, 1945. Kapitan Otto Skorzeny, alleged Nazi commando, was released today from Hitlermo detention camp on orders of the U.S. Supremely Inane Court.

Witnesses had identified him as the leader of what they termed "American" jeep recon units they said sowed havoc just weeks before at the onset of the Battle of the Bulge, but the justices found for the defendant after the Army pretended to be unable to find any witnesses. The Army's transparent excuse that the witnesses were from the 106 ID held no charm for the court.

Dershhalfwitz: Has the U.S. ever lost a full division to the Germans? Patton: Well, no, sir.

1/2Witz: Then doesn't it strike you as peculiar that just when this case comes before this court, the very division the witnesses allegedly served with is the one to be captured?

Patton: Sir, that's the division the commandos helped cut off. And so,

1/2Witz: Objection. Witness is stating a conclusion. There were no commandos.

Patton: Like hell.

Justice DeNaiad: Sergeant, have the witness removed. And dismiss the case against Skorzeny.

DeNaiad: Have a nice day, sir.

Skorz: Sieg H---I mean, have a nice day yourself, you stinking J---I mean, your honor.

DeNaiad to DeMentsha: I wonder what he was going to say? Sometimes I think we may be missing the obvious.

As seen on the Internet:

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on US 1-95, just outside of
Washington , DC .

Nothing is moving North or South. suddenly, a man knocks on his
window.

The driver rolls down his window and asks, "What happened? What's the hold-up?

"Terrorists have kidnapped President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter.

They are demanding a $100 million ransom. Otherwise, they are going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire.

We are going from car to car, taking up a collection."

The driver asks, "On average, how much is everyone giving?"

"About a gallon."

Release them all from Gitmo! NOW!

Ask each detainee their choice of destination (either Afgan, Paki, or Iraqi territory), then drop them off in their desired territory... from 10,000 feet.

Then we can thereafter look each and every leftists straight in the eye and honestly report: "We gave them a lift home and dropped them off.".

The shocking murder of Mississauga teen Aqsa Parvez took another disturbing twist yesterday when Peel Regional Police arrested her older brother and charged him with first-degree murder.

Waqas Parvez, 26, now joins his father Muhammad Parvez, 57, before the courts on pre-meditated murder charges in the Dec. 10, 2007 strangling death of the 16-year-old high school student who friends say did not want to wear the traditional Muslim Hijab head scarf and was rebellious against the strict Muslim rules laid down inside her family home.

Hey I think this whole mess is the Bush administrations fault. Every single one of those terrorists in gitmo should have had a military court martial with 5 months of arrival END OF STORY . Here's some breaking good news...

Ex-security Guard Convicted of Hiding Alias

A former security guard at Andrews Air Force Base has been convicted of failing to include his Muslim name on a background check.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Maryland announced Friday that 38-year-old Darrick Michael Jackson, of Washington, faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced in September.

Jackson was charged with making a false statement for not listing "Abdul-Jalil Mohammed" as an alias on the federal form he was required to fill out in 2005, and then lying to an investigator by not revealing his alias during an interview.

This was the second time jurors heard the case; a mistrial was declared in December.

Prosecutors argued that Jackson made the omission partly because he wanted to conceal his ties to a controversial imam. But Jackson argued he didn't know he had to include his religious name. Jackson's attorney, John Chamble, could not be reached for comment Friday.

Not O/T at all:

"Whoever, for the sake of money, for the sake of America, harms the interest of the Islamic world will meet the same fate," he said.

Gunmen with daggers then pounced on one of the men — identified as Jan Wali, 36 — decapitated him and waved his bloody head to the cheering crowd.

The militants then argued over how to kill the other man because he may have been a teenager, before one lost patience and shot him with an assault rifle.

The crowd erupted in cheers of "God is great!" and gunmen fired in the air in jubilation. The celebratory gunfire killed two bystanders and wounded six, local official Fazal Rabbi said.

As if we here at LGF didn't know, this is the barbaric, Islamopathic attitude of millions of Muslims worldwide.

The Founding Fathers did not intend that our representatives should be professional politicians. It's rather a shame that so many of them have done nothing else. We also have too many coming from the legal profession.

I detected a distinct flavor of impending insurrection. The political class better look out, people are getting fed up with gas prices and outsourcing and job exportation. There was anger and hate in these voices, tinged with feelings of betrayal by the leaders. Washington has no idea how much they are hated by the average person. The future may be ugly indeed.

I hope I am not too late to this thread, but I remember hearing some other BS about Habeas Corpus. Now, I know most here don't trust Wiki....and with good reason, but could someone disseminate this for me:

On January 18, 2007, Gonzales was invited to speak to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he shocked the committee's ranking member, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, with statements regarding the right of habeas corpus in the United States Constitution.[36] An excerpt of the exchange follows:

GONZALES: The fact that the Constitution—again, there is no express grant of habeas in the Constitution. There is a prohibition against taking it away. But it’s never been the case, and I’m not a Supreme—

SPECTER: Now, wait a minute. Wait a minute. The Constitution says you can’t take it away, except in the case of rebellion or invasion. Doesn’t that mean you have the right of habeas corpus, unless there is an invasion or rebellion?[37]

Senator Specter was referring to 2nd Clause of Section 9 of Article One of the Constitution of the United States which reads: "The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it." This passage has been historically interpreted to mean that the right of habeas corpus is inherently established.[38]

As Robert Parry writes in the Baltimore Chronicle & Sentinel:

“ Applying Gonzales’s reasoning, one could argue that the First Amendment doesn’t explicitly say Americans have the right to worship as they choose, speak as they wish or assemble peacefully.
Ironically, Gonzales may be wrong in another way about the lack of specificity in the Constitution’s granting of habeas corpus rights. Many of the legal features attributed to habeas corpus are delineated in a positive way in the Sixth Amendment...[39]

You folks here are 100x smarter than I. Does this have anything at all to do with this decision to kiss the asses...eerr, I mean, grant these fine upstanding middle easterners this right?

Thank you and please forgive my stupidity : )

Prayer gets derided here a fair amount, but if any of you care for this Nation, pray for it, and its leaders, regardless of party affiliation. For we are in dire times, with more to come, and plenty are working and praying for our demise.

re: #257 EC Marm

Although the job approval ratings of Congress, now down into the single digits, must give them just a little bit of a clue. After the last election, which gave us more Democrats, do you want to wager that the majority of voters will decide that the answer, once again, is more Democrats?

Virtually a certainty. See this link

In addition to the 22 GOP House members who are retiring, another 12 are leaving for a variety of reasons including death, running for higher office or, like Dennis Hastert (R-IL), resigning prior to the end of their term.

That means there will be 34 seats previously held by a Republican in play for the Democrats. The Democrats have a total of six members who will not be coming back next year.

The Republicans are screwed. It's going to take several decades and a brilliant leader to pull them back.

re: #249 nadadhimmi

think that is widespread. I stopped to fill a propane bottle for my gril the other day, the gas attendant started talking about politics (unprompted by me) He said, in part, "What the hell is wrong with damn politicians nowadays? Oil is outta sight and they refuse to allow us to drill for it? The Chinese are stealing our oil and there doing nothing about it!"

I was astonished, this guy looked like he was the epitome of Joe Sixpack, but he was pissed, and telling every person who stopped to get gas how he felt about it.

The real problem in my opinion, is that there is no one to vote for. They ALL are a bunch of lying unpatriotic boobs.

Oh, and did I mention self-centered and corrupt?

we do at my home. Read Jeremiah. they forgot God. he made them remember. We have done worse. We have tried to erase Him from our society. Chastisement my friend. These are just shots across the bow right now...the faithful have been too quiet....tooo long.

Well, my point is that I, personally, have not seen any sort of derision for prayer here*, and have seen much evidence that in fact favors it.

*This of course does not mean it has never happened, just that I have not seen it.

Hitch testified against her? Am I reading that right? For WHAT for crying out loud?

You're reading that right. From Wiki:

Christopher Hitchens, an author and journalist, was the only witness called by the Vatican to give evidence against Mother Teresa's beatification and canonization process, as the Vatican had abolished the traditional "devil's advocate" role that fulfilled a similar purpose.[68] Hitchens has written that Mother Teresa's own words on poverty proved that "her intention was not to help people", and he alleged that she lied to donors about the use of their contributions. “It was by talking to her that I discovered, and she assured me, that she wasn't working to alleviate poverty,” says Hitchens. “She was working to expand the number of Catholics. She said, ‘I'm not a social worker. I don't do it for this reason. I do it for Christ. I do it for the church.’"[69] In the process of examining Teresa's suitability for beatification and canonization, the Roman Curia (the Vatican) pored over a great deal of documentation of published and unpublished criticisms against her life and work. Vatican officials say Hitchens' allegations have been investigated by the agency charged with such matters, the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, and they found no obstacle to Mother Teresa's beatification.

re: #240 Killgore Trout

This is the same incident from a few months ago. The father was arrested at the time, and the charges against him were recently upgraded to first degree murder. Now the brother has been charged, also with 1st degree. Clearly, the prosecution now has a better idea of what happened and the evidence to convict both or they would not have taken this step.

Oh for pete's sake. Bringing people to Christ is BAD?!? for a Catholic? For a NUN? And the poor will always be with us, He said? I am no theologian but I see no discrepancy. How could a poor woman like her be expected to "alleviate" someone else's poverty?

What am I missing?

I like Hitchens, but sometimes he goes deep. He was with Peter Jennings at the funeral of Mother Teresa to balance it. Think about it, to balance it?
He asserted that she was a religious fanatic. She was a nun! She had two habits to her name, that she washed in a bucket. She helped all & never asked if they were Christian.
Imagine balancing Lady Dianas funeral.

You have to give him a lot of credit for his stand on the Iraq War, though. The left doesn't like it when you buck the party line.

Of course. Clowns like Monbiot are too ineffective and weak to achieve their ends — the destruction of Western civilization. He'll slobber all over himself trying to defend these jihadi scumbags — the "strong horse" in his book.

Give them all lawyers at taxpayer expense. Turn our soldiers into policemen. It's a Liberal's wet dream. What an absolute joke.

Even the Geneva Convention allows for the execution by firing squad of those caught fighting out of uniform or killing non-combatants (i.e. Al Queda hallmarks both).

314 pittrader1988  Sat, Jun 28, 2008 8:27:17am

No more prisoners. Between this, and the Supreme Court decision, if I were a grunt over there I would blow anyone away.

There are consequences to that. Less chance for information. Possible ill will being developed between people that are killed, and the families that are left behind.

The opportunity cost of the latter is far less than the former-I would shoot to kill.
