US: Facts Tie Muslim Groups to Hamas

Sun, Jul 13, 2008 at 10:54:42 am PDT

Federal prosecutors in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding trial are rejecting the claims of radical Islamic front groups ISNA and NAIT that they were unfairly listed as unindicted co-conspirators in the case: U.S.: Facts Tie Muslim Groups To Hamas Front Case.

In a filing yesterday in federal court in Dallas, prosecutors said the Islamic Society of North America and the North American Islamic Trust suffered no lasting harm by being included on the co-conspirator list prosecutors filed prior to the trial last year of the Holy Land Foundation and five of its officers because evidence supporting the claim became public just weeks later.

“During last year’s trial, numerous exhibits were entered into evidence establishing both ISNA’s and NAIT’s intimate relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Palestine Committee, and the defendants in this case,” the prosecutors wrote. “They were intimately connected with the HLF and its assigned task of providing financial support to HAMAS. ... That ISNA and NAIT appeared in these documents and share a common history with these defendants is a reflection of the evidence, not any attempt to ‘disparage’ or ‘vilify.’”

8 seekeroftruth  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 11:01:59am

Good for the prosecutors standing strong on this and not letting themselves be intimidated. Let's see more standing up to these groups.

9 pat  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 11:02:03am

If push comes to shove, these groups will be sorry. In order to comply with Justice Department regulations, the Prosecutors that released the info in the criminal complaint had to be ready to indict.

Who is this prosecutor?

11 Syrah  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 11:04:36am

And how would an Obama administration deal with the HLF and similar such problems?

Can we trust Obama to be concerned about Hamas, Hizb'Allah and all the other radical Islamic front groups activities here as well as elsewhere?

Why do I suspect that an Obama administration would be like the Clinton Administration, having Coffee Klatch fund raisers with the Chinese in the white house, and with Jihad supporting Islamist?

12 mean Gene  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 11:05:44am

What I meant by #10 is, that's what Muslim groups are going to insist on knowing.
Sort of how they follow people they think disagree with them on U of Irvine campus and harass them in the parking structure.

The Algore Banner reminds me of Jesse Unruh quote that I heard many times while living in California.

Even facts are just there to torment and harass these poor people. Doesn't matter that something is true; if it causes offense and unease and discomfort, it has to go, along with anyone who's ever spoken of it!

I've said before that the muslims, especially jihadist, terror appeasing ones, remind me of the people of Krikkit in Adams' book "Life, the Universe, and Everything". If they don't understand it, like it, or it wasn't their idea, it has to go!

That article is a MUST-READ for its description of Obamanations "military" advisor, McPeak (or McWeak) - who said that Iran was helpful until GWB got them upset. Funny, I thought Iran became our enemy back in the Carter administration, when they declared war on us by attacking our embassies and taking diplomats hostages.

Kind of tells you what kind of discussions Obama and Ahmadinejad would be having, doesn't it?

Semi-OT: American Islamists, terror supporters and Nazis to attend conference in Spain....
Madrid forum won’t discuss controversial topics: Al-Turki

Abdullah Al-Turki, secretary-general of the Muslim World League (MWL), the main organizer, said the conference would not discuss controversial religious and political issues. “It will focus on common human values,” he said.

Al-Turki said King Abdullah had called for the conference in order to solve the problems facing humanity, such as the destruction of the family system, the disappearance of moral values and conflicts between nations.
....
The participants from the US include Muzammil Siddiqui, former president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA); Nihad Awad, director general of Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR); John Esposito, director of the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding; and William Baker, president of Christians and Muslims for Peace.

From what I've seen lately, the Vatican is playing lip service to "inter-faith" dialogue while taking a hard line position that when Islam permits Christians to freely practice their faith, they'll give something in return. We both know that's not going to happen anytime soon. So the worst that happens is someone from the Vatican takes an allah-expense paid trip to Spain for a couple of days.

i'm thinking there might be a lot more local buying in the future because of the price of gas.

I love buying local. The Hutterite colonies around here have the best produce. But, the fact remains, you just can't get everything you need from local markets. Sometimes things have to be brought in. Commerce is good for all.

yes, of course lots of stuff isn't available from local suppliers. i'm not against commerce at all. but if i have the option to buy the fresh seasonal produce and help the locals, i do it.

No pictures, but our dogs hate cats. If one of them sees one, even across the street, he goes nuts, jumping and barking. He won't go through the invisible fence, though. Once, a cat sat just beyond it, looking calm, while the dogs jumped and barked a few feet away.
We'll never be robbed by a cat burglar. A human one, maybe, but never a cat burglar.

how many of the so called farmers markets go to the local veg dist. and buy the stuff wholesale?

if you want fresh fruits and vegs in the winter time your getting it from chile not exactly locally grown

More than once in a while, some of us intentionally misspell words for comic relief or to antagonize someone like 'Occasional Reader'. Just try typing the word(?) irregardless when he's around.

I enjoy the pet-peeve-a-thons.

The government should make the argument moot by indicting the co-conspirators.

Is there a legal lizard in the house ? What are the possible reasons prosecution would not indict an indictable co-conspirator ?

wouldn't you rather have fresh apples from the local orchard when you can?
or fresh blue berries and sweet corn picked right from the field.
i'm not sure why that's a problem. lol
and of course you can't buy locally when there's 3 ft. of snow on the ground.

I'm pretty sure that the left wants us to be the same as the rest of the world. Crappy food all around.

re: #104 buzzsawmonkey

I've got nothing against locally grown food, as such. My point is merely that it is of necessity a boutique indulgence; it is not a substitute for agribusiness or world commerce, as the most virulent "locally grown" advocates would claim. The local farms that supplied New York City fifty or 100 years ago have long since become residential developments.

Sure, it's nice to get a few fresh apples from a stall instead of from the supermarket or corner produce stand; there are often unusual varieties, for one thing, which the larger suppliers don't trouble with. But the notion that it is possible for modern society to "go back" to locally-grown produce as a general matter is neo-Luddite fantasy.

i don't think buying fresh produce locally is a substitute for agribusiness or world commerce. most people i know don't do it to shut down the economy.
they are just after good ingredients for a nice meal. i wasn't aware that commies are pushing some kind of local grower agenda to achieve their own leftist motives.
how could my good intentions have been co-opted completely w/out my knowledge? lol.
the left is not going to be able to get enough people to start small farms and squeeze out the big growers. i love gardening but a lot of people don't.
