Check out the big brain on TNR: The McCain ad, which essentially criticizes Obama for demagoguery, is just like Riefensthal's work, which was demagoguery.
Brilliant.

I can see why this ad makes them so nervous- it's not the celebrity angle- it's the fact that they can't refute the energy claims. So they're raising a fuss over the small angle to distract from the larger one in the hopes the American public won't notice.

Ross Douthat nails a reply:
Here's a tip for liberals: If your candidate is going to stage enormous rallies in front of tens of thousands of chanting Germans (with monuments to Prussian military might in the background) in the middle of his Presidential campaign, it isn't the GOP's fault if the footage comes out looking a little like Hitler at Nuremberg.

I won't vote for him cause he's from Hawaii and Chicago two hot beds of socialists democraps/kleptocrats (pardon the redundancy). That article is a hoot. McCain can't get an article published in the paper, and has a twenty second commercial that shows the Obamanation to be a bubbleheaded anti american bimbo, whereas the press throws laurel leaves at the Obamanation and sixty percent of the public thinks the press is doing everything to get the Obamanation elected President, but we are supposed to believe that spot is a Leni production, rather than the 99.9 percent saturation adoration coverage being given to an empty suit who sharpened his teeth on the most radical socialist thinkers around. Just when you think libs can't od on more koolaid, we are amazed that they are bottomless pits of vapidity and idiocy.

Noam Scheiber links to Rick Perlstein who links to a blog called The New Disease, where a guy who calls himself gomonkeygo says
Postscript: So far, I've only seen Rachel Maddow and Keith Olberman go at this ad from any perspective other than "Huh? What?" And they see the racism inherent in it, too, enough so that Rachel tore Pat Buchanan a royal new one, basically calling him a racist to his face albeit very tactfully. They cut to commercially immediately after she did it. And even Keith was scared of really going for it in his analysis. This is a disturbing place John McCain is taking the election and it's on his head, his heart and his conscience assuming he still has one.
So I had to google and see who Rachel Maddow is. She's on Air America (as well as this appearance on MSNBC, apparently). So a hard core lefty is calling Buchanan a racist over McCain's ad. WTF?

I don't want a president who responds to criticism with ' Izzat all you got'?
I can get that from my kids.
"t-w" -
My ONLY critique of your position is the number of letters and syllables that you used. My responses would be more like "AND" or "SO!" That is all.

That website is serious nuts:
But now I've seen the writings of Barack Obama in the Necronomicon. And I know the power of the darker cult, the Cult of Cthulhu, the members of which he commands while being led by an even darker and more sinister power. Now I fear that fouler things are at work, and that the audacity of hope is a mask for a terrible plan that will lead to the destruction of mankind.
A little over the top, isn't it?

Gross, but I'm beginning to think that...
When Obama picks it
The Media eats it
We'll know they've had their fill when it starts showing up on E-Bay.

re: #92 M. Bensson-Levi
20,000 is the actual number sited HERE, other articles claim"Huge", "Enormous", 100,000, and the Obama Campaign's claim of 200,000. I wasn't there.Even if the number was 200,000, they came for the FREE CONCERTS, BEER & BRATS. I have it on good authority that only 32 came to see Obama. They were bussed in from the local shelter for people with "Special Needs."
If you look at the crowd between the trees, that's all there is. There wasn't much overflow. The ZDF (German TV network) Special showed a lot of asphalt where the crowds should be. They said about 100,000 tops. On the sides and in the back of the podium were where the police cars were parked. Channeling the crowd down the street made it easier for security.
A lot of young people and plenty of Americans in the crowd. Many in the crowd stayed to watch Obama to see IF HE WOULD COMPARE to John F Kennedy.
He didn't even TRY to say anything in German.
"Ich bin ein Dussel !" would have been a good phrase for him.

Speaking of Leni:
Small Dead Animals posted these two videos in March. The trick is to 1) turn down the volume on the top video and turn up the volume on the bottom video and 2) play the two videos in sync: listening to the bottom video while watching the top video.
It's spooky.
I watched Triumph of the Will a while ago and it did not come to mind when I watched the McCain commercial. I agree with (Sharmuta?) that the Obama campaign is using this type of bogus comparison as a distraction from the real issues.
Obama is the one who is setting himself up as the saviour of the world. He is scary. He is an empty vessel, waiting and wanting to be filled and proved to be more special than the rest. His huge ego craves...

After the war, and a brief prison term, Riefenstahl travelled to Africa and took photographs of "noble African warriors". She admired their muscular beauty. She lived to be 99, dying only a few years ago.
She lived to 101.

The way the Obama campaign ripped off the work of Leni Riefenstahl he should be paying royalties to her estate. The pencil necked big eared lip flapper is so full of horse shit that he has mushrooms growing out of his ass.

On Kudlow tonight, Keith Boykin said that McCain / Republicans were using "secret words" to degrade BHO and play the race card.
I guess we'll have to wait for the cigar and the duck to figure out what those words are.

Here is what I think might be an intended consequence of McCain's ad - oh very sneaky or I am just thinking too much. What are the odds that Britney Spears and Paris Hilton come out and disavow the ad and endorse Obama. Perhaps their endorsements will not be viewed as positive.

As the LLL's love pointing out; the Hiltons are behind McCain.
They view this as a snub to one of McCain's supporters and are taking that approach to attack the ad.
