St Paul police raided a building yesterday where some anarachist types were meeting to plan violence during the RNC. May take is that it isn't Weather underground type bombings, but more like use lighter fluid to start fires.

But the police spokesman alluded to plans to attack police officers.

Now as the world turns, when will us black people learn? (damn)
Before we had a perm, we came from Adam's sperm
You see with plain vision, we live in the same system
Became victims, once was able, can't even raise children
Where's 'the village' when you need it?
...
Now some of y'all black folks is still patriotic
Dyin in wars, so who you think make the profit?

("One day old fool, you gonna get this country
in a war that they not gonna fight for ya,
which means you gon' have to fight it yourself!")

The "Experience" where everyone's leg shall tingle. Can You Dig IT!

You know, the only things missing from the stadium event on Thursday was the zeppelins and gigantic back-lit banners. If they had those things, it would have captured perfectly that whole "Triumph of the Will"/Nuremberg motif.

33 Hucbald  Sat, Aug 30, 2008 10:06:57am

I think we're in agreement then, "Are You Experienced" ought to be Obama's theme song.

God, that's funny!

Inayat Bunglawala: Muslims aren't terrorists, they're just curious.....
Terrorist - or just a curious teenager?

Let's look at what had Hammaad Munshi is actually said to have done. According to all accounts of the case, Munshi surfed the internet and is said to have downloaded material about the making of napalm and other explosives. He also had "al-Qa'ida propaganda videos" on his PC.

So what? That's freedom folks. Just think how many British teenagers have got hold of the Anarchist's Cookbook over the years and how much easier the internet has made it to seek out and read such material? How many of them went on to become terrorists? And if people want to download videos of US army tanks being blasted apart by Iraqi resistance fighters then that is surely their own business, right? Where have all the "free speech" warriors gone now?
....
In court, Munshi's lawyers tried unsuccessfully to argue that he had collected the internet material out of teenage 'curiosity'.
....
For too many young British Muslims like Munshi, the UK has come to resemble a republic of fear.

While there is undeniably a terror threat to this country, it is also apparent that this government has been more than eager to exaggerate the extent of the danger posed by people like Munshi in order to generate panic and fear among us. All the better to distract us from the horrific scale of their own misdeeds due to their warmongering abroad. Of course, members of the government who lied to us in order to shore up support for an illegal invasion of a sovereign country that posed no threat to us could never be thought of as terrorists.

See? The real terrorists are the Infidels and Muslims are the real victims!

The reply from the original poster explained that he is part of a group that is doing just that, but he also lamented that his group's speeches and activities AREN'T being noticed by the national media.

It reminded me of that one Muslim blogger a few months back outraged at the "Immigrant syndicate" of groups like CAIR...

Based on his military experience, Hendrix was more qualified to be POTUS than Obama.

After completing boot camp, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His commanding officers and fellow soldiers considered him to be a sub-par soldier: he slept while on duty, had little regard for regulations, required constant supervision, and showed no skill as a marksman. For these reasons, his commanding officers submitted a request that Hendrix be discharged from the military after he had served only one year.

When Barack Obama wanted to buy a house that was too expensive, he turned to Tony Rezko to help him out.

Excellent. May I be so bold as to suggest:

On one ticket, you have two political hacks that have either never taken a position contrary to the dictates of their party--or just haven't voted. And, they're attorneys.

On the other ticket, you have a man and woman who have bucked their own party, exposed corruption and criminal behavior in their own ranks and take positions that benefit all voters and not their own machines.

I said, on other threads, that Palin was brought on board for two reasons. First, to shore up the base. She has done more than solidly the GOP base; she has galvanized it. Second, she was brought in to get the PUMAs off the fence and into the McCain camp. Sounds like she is already paying off dividends.

I am guardedly optimistic. My fear is she'll turn into a Dan Quayle in heels on the campaign trail. I will watch her speech on Wednesday with some apprehension and anticipation.

Well, while it certainly is prudent not to go ott and see what she'll say wednesday, I don't think she'll ever be a Quayle-alike.
She is far too down-to-earth for that and has too much common sense. She is a real-life person first and foremost, not a politician.

re: #177 NoSubmission

I have to say that I was not a big McCain fan. I was a Guiliani supporter because I thought his views were more consistent with my own and because I thought he would be more effective.

But McCain has clearly won me over. His campaign is effective.

BTW, how about this:

John McCain believed that he should not leave his POW mates behind, even though he could have. He stayed while being tortured for years.

Barack Obama believed in the public financing of presidential campaigns -- at least until he found out he could raise more money than he would get from public financing.

John McCain has taken public financing because he promised to.

Who's beliefs can YOU believe in?

I agree with you 100%. But, I have been hurt before. Let's see how she weathers the inevitable attacks from the left.

187 itellu3times  Sat, Aug 30, 2008 11:17:46am

Outstanding.

I want half those t-shirts and buttons.

If the campaign gets even 10% of the proceeds, good grief.

Hope the Republicans have the graphic artists at work for our side.

I've see that pic before... think "Truth is Out of Style".

Yup. Eric Johnson.

This is an insult to Hendrix and his remaining relatives. I hope they sue.

193 mattm  Sat, Aug 30, 2008 12:03:56pm

The HopeAndChange buttons and shirts are about as specific as his policies.

194 mikalm  Sat, Aug 30, 2008 1:08:43pm

Whoever made that button obviously didn't know this rather inconvenient bit of trivia about Hendrix:

A biography published in summer 2005, Room Full Of Mirrors, by Charles Cross, claims that Hendrix faked being gay--claiming to have fallen in love with another soldier--and was therefore discharged. According to Cross, Hendrix was an avid anti-communist and did not leave the US Army as a protest to the Vietnam War, but simply wanted out so he could focus on playing guitar.) [emphasis mine]

Countercultural Icon does not necessarily equal Leftist, moonbats, viz. Jack Kerouac.

Oh, you look so beautiful tonight....

Obama's walk-in music. U-2

196 cthruu  Sat, Aug 30, 2008 2:29:33pm

Hi all:

As I see it, the images in the background are some of the Rakshasas (villains - real, real bad villains) from Hindu scriptures. there is Ravana who was vanquished by Lord Rama, there is multi-headed serpent that was vanquished by Lord Krishna, etc. The heads with tongues hanging out are also some of the Asura's in the scriptures.

I am not an expert and can not name all of these, but I am pretty sure these are not the images of gods or deities, just the opposite.

this button means that Obama is in the company of some really, really bad villains. This shows want an ignorant fool this button maker is - if he is really a supporter of Obama.

re: #171 MrPaulRevere

My two cents on the Sarah Palin 'troopergate' scandal: If its corruption to pressure a political appointee who serves at the pleasure of Governor to fire a state trooper who used a taser on a 10 year old boy, drank beer while driving a patrol car, and threatened to kill his father in law, then I think we need a lot more 'corruption'.

DING.
DING.

Dang. Wish I'd have posted that.

I hope Mitch Mitchell sues the bastards.

re: #196 cthruu

Very interesting! I'm not up on my Hindu deities, and the fact that both Hendrix' graphic designer, and whoever designed this badge, chose that rather dark pantheon is quite revealing.

I suppose the Western equivalent would be displaying an icon of oneself flanked by the Bible's bad guys: Satan, Haman, Herod, Judas, etc.

"I am waiting for BHO to choke on his own vomit."

"they never actually determined whose vomit it was"
- Derek Smalls in "This Is Spinal Tap"

In any case, if Hendrix were alive today he'd be turning in his grave.

These people need some new shtick. The SLA was using the seven headed cobra as their symbol 35 years ago.

Thanks. Great pics. Used to live in Humboldt County so the types were familiar. Pearl Street just moved a bit south for this special day.

re: #40 zimriel

Remember the Symbionese Liberation Army, the ones who kidnapped Patty Hearst?

Their logo looked just about like that.

I don't know about you, but it tells me that the Obama crowd has an affinity for terrorists.

(but then again, we all know that.)
