at what point do you just say " OK, I'm done"

I could see where you would be consumed with a project like this and imagine new images at all hours of the day and night.
and it would be hard to stop

9 Gang of One  Sat, Nov 22, 2008 2:45:23pm

This must have taken days -- you can see the shadows move in the same patter indicating the passage of much time. A real labor of love. Thank you Killgore and Charles.

I am willing to wager that most taggers would not have the patience to execute something like this.

20 Taqiyyotomist  Sat, Nov 22, 2008 2:56:48pm

Very nice. Think what this artist could do with time, and color.
I think that the outdoors section, before and after the cutaway to the interior, was done in a day. It looks like it gets A.M. light at the start, and dusk at the end.
Hope he has bodyguards. Covering a current gang tag is not usually wise.

I've got a rant at the end of the AP thread, a few back, here. If anyone wants to read a rant, that is. :)

Ain't your taxes he's playing with. That's Argentina. Not saying it's entirely right, but the cultural relativism in me says that the rest of the world isn't so paranoid about how their money is used and abused. Art is viewed differently around the world. Sometimes it's viewed to be a private entity, and sometimes it's viewed to be a public entity.

Hizbullah TV rejects German ban as unjust

Al-Manar TV Director Abdullah Kassir asserts the German government acted on a request from what he called "Zionist lobbies" in Europe in deciding to ban broadcasts of the Arabic language network.

67 Taqiyyotomist  Sat, Nov 22, 2008 3:16:57pm

The site has quite a few pics - this person is quite talented. Look at the site, the tabs on the left, top tab, entitled "walls"...prolific, thats for sure.

I like grafitti when done right. Messy tags and gang scribbling is not, to understate, aesthetically pleasing. Most artistic tagging is not done by gangs. I've seen railroad cars that look like they belong in a museum. I don't like it on the back of my house, or my local businesses. I DO like it on the backs of buildings that can only be seen from the train or subway, which otherwise would look hideous or drab. I like it when tags make the object look better, which is usually, when the tags are on a run-down building that no slum-lord is going to paint or otherwise beautify.

I am quite sure I am in the minority with this viewpoint. Nyeh. :p

A Marine and Airman are doing their business in urinals next to each other in an airport bathroom. They engage in some small talk, mostly some pot shots at the others branch of service. They both finish around the same time.

The Airman goes to the sink and starts to wash his hands while the Marine just heads for the door. The Airman looks at him disgusted and says, At least in Air Force boot camp they teach us to wash our hands after taking a piss. The Marine looks at him and says, In Marine Corps boot camp they teach us not to piss on ours.

Instead of spending that money on erasing the graffiti, how about spending it on preventing kids from going out and doing senseless graffiti or building places where it can be contained? All I'm saying is that it might not be right to graffiti and vandalize, but I oppose my taxes being spent on trying to stop it by simply erasing it. That doesn't work and will never work.

Glad I could assist. That article is the centerpiece, the main plan for these radicals, and Obama is "their man". I only wish more people would realize that all else is peripheral.

Anyone who thinks Obama is going to be a "center/left" president is deluding themselves. Also, thinking that he "may be susceptible" to influence from former Clintonistas? That's another nonthinking statement. He already is a puppet, and there's already hands inside and strings attached. Susceptible? Laughable. If Obama has any original thoughts and plans, they are the same thoughts and plans that his Communist friends and associates have. The man was nursed at the teat of Communism, lived his entire life from damn-near conception to the present in the presence of communist teachers, and some here seriously think that he is going to be "center/left"? And therein lies the problem. I have avoided those threads that scream for Conservatives to move left, to move the center to the left. The Leftists ran a pure socialist, pandered to the extreme left with most of the also-rans and we ran a RINO. What would have happened had we ran a conservative? We will never know, and from the tone of many republicans (small r for a reason), we may never again know.

i rather liked this and I am not all that fond of current modern art because in many cases they don't seem to get craftsmanship and stuff like that. But in this case it all seems to work.

given how long it would take and that it would be done in the day time i suspect he had permission. i would suspect it took more than a few weeks to do this as each movement is a sept vedio setting.

almost reads like a artist book which is what i got my MFA in.

/(x100)
Get winamp and shoutcast radio... They don't do that classic rock thing of which I speak, the 100 (okay, maybe 200) songs that they've played in my ear for thirty eight years now. I could really live another thirty eight years, and, never hearing Magic Man again, still recall each single note and nuance. It's gotten so I have to wonder, are these songs all like, public domain now, and thats why we get to hear the same 200 until Armageddon? Like Row Your Boat, is it now free to play "I've Seen All Good People" twice a day for approximately infinity, royalty-free?

1) This is amazing. Very imaginative.

2) I never have liked the "open up one person, out comes another" and "human head with spider legs" animations.

3) What a crappy neighborhood. lol

But seriously, this is incredible. I love how he made the animation go off the wall/sidewalk and into the dirt, and that one animation near the end that kicked over the log.

That was just a regular barrio for Argentina. Better that many.

Of course, I've spoken with Gunny Slaughter (yes, that really is his name) and he and I are on the same page.

San Diego lizards (and everyone else):

One of San Diego's main talk radio stations, San Diego 1700AM, "The Talk of San Diego," has a show at 5pm (PST) on Saturdays called "Chandler's Watch." Well, apparently, sometime during the show, they're going to talk about VI Day. You can listen to it live over the Web by clicking on the radio mike in the previous link, or go to the streaming page directly here. (Currently it's the Dennis Miller Show.)

Can't guarantee this, but the host of the show just emailed me to say he was going to mention VI Day! Don't know at what point during the show, if ever, but it might be worth a listen.

In the enlisted ranks of the Marine Corps, you get your stripes "pinned on".A Marine on each side of you, they count 1,2,3 and punch you on the upper arm at the same time. Some guys got really hurt, but usually only if they were punks. Only that rank and higher could "pin" you.

Four more punished in Joe the Plumber searches:

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two more senior managers at the Ohio agency where computers were used to dig up information about "Joe the Plumber" have been suspended without pay for their roles in the searches, an official at the agency said Friday.

Fred Williams, the Department of Job and Family Services' assistant director, will be placed on two weeks unpaid suspension beginning Monday, spokeswoman Scarlett Bouder said in a statement. Doug Thompson, the department's deputy director of child support, is facing a four-week unpaid suspension, also starting on Monday,

Two other agency employees are facing disciplinary action based on conclusions reached Thursday by Ohio's government watchdog, she said.

Being involved "for the children" in my state as a foster parent, I run like hell when the they say "for the children."

The Child Welfare system budget in WA has gone up annual to the tune of 12%.
But services on the ground are being cut. Lot's of new middle management to ensure efficiency, and to study ways to better deliver services.

A tour de force of sick from a true nihilist. yuck.

Kinda what I was thinking, only you put it succintly. Although I do like the technique and acknowledge the artistic ability of the person who did this, it is exactly as you describe. I don't dig post-modern, especially post-modern nihilism. Essentially postmodernism as I see it, a celebration of nothingness, meaninglessness, randomness. Postmodern Nihilist, all of the above, only with an added tint of decay, death, ugliness, morbidity, and darkness. I mean, "Blinded by the Light" by Springsteen fits the first bill, any video by Tool fits the second.

TUKWILA - At least one person was hit by gunfire in a shooting Saturday afternoon inside Southcenter Mall as it was filled with pre-Thanksgiving shoppers, witnesses said.

An off-duty sergeant with the Washington State Patrol at the scene said the victim is undergoing CPR after being hit.

Two people were put in handcuffs by officers at the scene, the trooper said.

Other witnesses told KOMO News they heard at least three shots fired just after 3:30 p.m. in front of the Forever 21 store near the mall's food court.

The gunfire sparked immediate panic, and people started running for the exits.

Police raced to the scene in their patrol cars, lights flashing.

Shoppers are being evacuated from the mall, and officers are trying to determine exactly what happened and whether a shooter remains at large.

More updates will be posted as information becomes available.

Well Geek Squad double agent was here, opened up UPS package with 2d new motherboard I've received from them and as he took it out of the bag, a capacitor fell off. Literally fell off!
So no new motherboard, didn't put in new HD (although he ran some tests and in fact my existing HD does have some sort of problem, maybe a scratch or something on it). So on Monday the Geek Squad is calling to make another appointment to deliver a 3rd motherboard and also to put me in touch with the head of Best Buy (I think he meant the head of Best Buy Customer relations) to see if they could "do something" for me. The reason we didn't schedule a new appointment is because the Geek Squad's computers were...DOWN.

Just how stupid does the AP think we are. Since when is a 1 day upturn in the DJIA equate with a rally? It's one day. It takes more than a day to have a rally in the market, especially since Monday could see a 800 point decline just as surely as a 300 point advance.

The market rallied on news of who Obama was considering for Treasury Secretary, but that's a one day event. Let's see what else Obama has to say. How will the markets react to his ideas for getting us out of a recession. His tax and spend program that he's only now beginning to lay out (still with no specificity because to do so would be to admit that it really is a tax hike on everyone - since most everyone has money in the stock markets, any decision to allow the Bush cuts to expire will mean significant tax hikes for many).

It seems like the majority of lefty blogs want Bush to resign now, in spite of (or perhaps because of) the fact that his term ends in January.

It occurred to me that if Bush did resign, the result of that would have el cubo heads exploding worldwide.

Nah, I've owned this one since Feb of '70 - and it's a super puter when working - CD/W, DVD, 400 Gig HD,
2.7 Gig RAM (AFTER taking out the 899 or so MB's for the video card).
Crap.
Sure wish they'd fix it for me.
Sigh.

a '70? Atari wasn't even out yet!

I've been looking around the news and opinion websites, and something I've noticed is that the nutroots don't seem to have read the Constitution.

Had a discussion with a nutroot at work yesterday, guy with a bad case of BDS, he kept referring to Bush as "the sovereign". I laughed at him, told him to try reading the constitution, much less the federalist papers. He couldn't meet my eyes.

No wonder these guys think of 0bambi as the messiah, cluelessness is their way of life.

Naw. They'd be seeking Cheney's impeachment on that. /not far from the truth.

These people simply cannot wait for Obama to come in and screw things up royally. They think that President Bush has ruined everything, and I think they're going to get a most rude awakening.

Especially Gail Collins, who could be out of a job before long because the owner of her company, the New York Times, is hell bent on running it into the ground. At this point, the real estate the Times owns is essentially worth the value of the company. They could shut down the paper and the company would be worth the same. In fact, it probably could make money since they wouldn't have to lay out expenses on columnists who write banal columns like she did.

However, back in the day, Data General was reselling drums aka fixed head disks, bearings would fail and they would screech and catch fire.

They also made a SOTA minicomputer, the Supernova, that had the same pyrotechnic feature.

These are really hard to diagnose without being on the computer in question, but
1. update your flash version
2. since the stream plays a while then stops, check the size of your streaming buffer, you might have it set too low.
3. check your firewall settings, it could be interrupting the streams thinking they are an attack.

Go to winamp.com. Download the latest Winamp. Run it, on the left side, there is a Explorer-like browser...called Media Library. 6th item down, called Online Services. Shoutcast Radio. Thousands of stations.

As for exact stations? I would have to know what you're attempting...like a radio station site? WLSAM.com, that sort of thing? Your browser needs to have player functionality, i.e. Realplayer plugin, or Windows Media, and I think IE and Firefox both have them, or easily prompt you to get them when you first click a link that needs either.

Shoutcast has lower bitrate stations, too. It sounds like you have a slow connection if it is stopping short like that. Shoutcast is my favorite online radio, bar none. If you want to pay $10 a month, though, Rhapsody is a music service that blows them all away, IMO. Shoutcast is free, always.

Also you can get a proggy called Boombox internet radio, freeware, that works with the shoutcast network, and lets you record audio to .wav files.

There's another online radio, called Pandora, but I don't yet know if I like it enough to recommend.

Iowahawk had a good article a while back, essentially that the insane left is saying, "If you elect another Repub, expect us to act this way again, like insane babies. We'll cry and have our daily tantrums on your TV, on your Radio, at your rock concerts, at your art shows, in your FACES until we again get what we want, (which is only defined by what YOU want, since we only know to oppose existing thought). kthx bye."
