Kos Kid Roots for Palestinians, Takes Slap at Obama

Moonbats | Sat, Dec 27, 2008 at 11:25:07 am PST

A Kos Kid with the possibly ironic username of “Daisy Cutter” is weeping over the Israeli airstrikes against Hamas weapons dumps and training camps: Daily Kos: Israel’s ongoing war on Palestinian self-determination (EDIT: 200 dead, Obama: no comment).

With today’s news of IDF air strikes abruptly ending the lives of some 140 Gazans, I can’t help but feel an abject sense of horror at the fact that most Americans will probably find some way to blame the Palestinians for bringing this on themselves. Nevermind the fact that it was Israel who initially broke the ceasefire. Forget the fact that Israel kidnapped two civilians from Gaza before Corporal Gilad Shilat became a household name. Nevermind that Israel’s strangulation of the Gaza Strip began immediately after the so-called disengagement and before the electoral victory of Hamas.

I remain confounded by the American progressive movement’s widespread refusal to stand behind the Palestinian people as they are subjected to an endless barrage of colonialist, racist aggression.

I, on the other hand, see it as a rare sign of wisdom. Not all “progressives” are as gullible and blind as “Daisy Cutter,” apparently.

(Hat tip: Killgore.)

There's a reason to not stand behind the Palestinians. They've chosen terrorism and genocide as their ultimate goal. They seek Israel's destruction and voted for Hamas and their nihilism. More people realize this than DKossers and the media would have you believe, but both are doing their best to throw the conflict to the Palestinians.

But for the ongoing kassam attacks, Israel would not have attacked.
For Hamas, but for Israel's existence, the kassams would not have been fired.

Hamas will continue its war against Israel until such time it can no longer carry out its war, or Israel is destroyed. Those who continue to root for the Palestinians are siding with those who seek Israel's destruction.

During the election, Kossacks were telling themselves that if their precious BHO lost, it would be purely due to racism. Now they're telling themselves the same things about their beloved Palestine.

Puh-lease.

One kossack takes Daisy Cutter to task...

One Jew's reaction to Daisy Cutter and the I/P Conflict

I am an American Jew. I've never been to Israel, but was raised to believe it was the God's promised land, where all Jews would be free from persecution. I was raised to love this far-away country as my own, to hold it blameless when it stumbled, to defend it to my death.

I grew up, however, having a slightly more complicated view of Israel. I saw how Arab Isreali's did not have the same opportunities as Jewish Israeli's, or even new European immigrants. I saw how Palestinians lived in abject poverty. I saw Zionist extremists - a pretty small, but extremely vocal community - descend on territories in the West Bank, displacing Palestinian families, cutting down their olive orchards, in the name of "reclaiming God's land" for the Jews. I saw how the right-wind political factions in Israel exploited the real fear and terror regular Israeli citizens felt at targeted by suicide bombers in their shops and cafes to keep themselves in power, while at the same time seeking no real solutions to this ancient problem.

I saw the inequity in this and decided not to hold Israel blameless. I'm know I'm not the only American Jew who feels this way.

However, when I read Daisy Cutter's diary, this was my immediate and gut reaction.

"Fuck you."

Daisy, dear, please do tell me why this isn't something the Palis have brought on themselves.

Of course, this is a perfect illustration of the Progressives' failure to study their own history. The first Progressive administration, that of Woodrow Wilson, was amply racist and imperialist, and Wilson himself thought he was on a mission from God.... and that those who opposed him were thereby defying Divine Will.

"I have been banned from many US, UK leftist dogmatic, stalinist, revisionist XXth Century Socialism bloggers, forums and debate-groups for agreeing with the Zionist Power Control theory that claims that USA is ruled and owned by Israel.

According to the dogmatic-left, that cannot happen because US is an empire and there is no absolute way that USA could be controlled by a lesser, weaker country.

How dumb are US-UK and world dogmatic leftists, when we all know that AIPAC and the ZPC (Zionist Powerful Configuration) controls US government policies.

Israel Air Force Resumes Attacks, Targets Hamas Film Studios

Excerpt from report by Israeli public radio station Voice of Israel Network B on 27 December

The Israel Air Force [IAF] attacked targets in the Gaza Strip again this evening. No casualties were reported in this attack. Palestinian sources reported that in this evening's attack, the IAF fired at Hamas's film studio complex, which was erected on the ruins of Ganey Tal recently and was used to produce propaganda films.

Our correspondent Gal Berger reports that Hamas has instructed its members not to congregate together, so as not to become easy targets for Israel. In today's IAF attacks in the Gaza Strip, 205 Palestinians were killed and over 350 were wounded. The IAF's targets include Hamas training facilities, the adminstration building, weapon warehouses, and the Gaza Strip's port.

IDF sources stress that television footage shows that most of the Palestinian casualties are policemen and uniformed Hamas activists. Hamas has confirmed that all its security installations in the Gaza Strip have been totally destroyed.

Palestinian sources reported that the IAF attacks in the Rafah area shook the tunnels along the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, and the Palestinians who maintain the smuggling tunnels fled in fear of the latter's collapse. [passage omitted]

Two people were wounded by rocket fire early this evening in the Eshkol Regional Council. One of them sustained moderate to serious injuries. The Palestinians have fired dozens of rockets and mortar shells at Israel since the start of the IAF's offensive. Rockets exploded in the western Negev communities, the Lakhish District, Netivot, and Ashqelon. [passage omitted]

Abbas' Presidential term ends, more or less, on the 9th of January. Israeli elections are on Feb 10th. There's a political context.

The ruling Kadima party in Israel has been taking heat for being weak and is predicted to lose to Likud led by Netanyahu. These attacks may help Kadima look stronger.

I have to ask if Hamas is cooperating in an effort to make Kadima look tougher, rather than have to deal with Netanyahu. I don't see much evidence for my speculation but I have to ask. We should keep an eye out for further developments.

It could also work the other way; Hamas could feel forced to restrain itself against Israel, lest a defeated-in-war Kadima be defeated in elections by Likud. That is, Hamas can't win; If it wins, it loses.

But if Hamas "Loses", the PA could come out stronger among the Palestinians. If this matters, Gaza could turn to have had One Man, One Vote, One Time.

Israel wants to stop the rocketing of it's cities and delegitimize Hamas. Hamas wants death, preferably on TV.

You want to know why I won't stand with the Palestinians? Cuz you could get hit by an IDF missile that's why. And I wouldn't want to throw off the IDF's aim with my 6'4" blond headed self.

How anyone can blame Israel is beyond me. It's ok for the Pals to lob missiles and mortars non-stop into Israel but If Israel responds at all in self defense it's a hate crime.

And the media is as complicit as the Pals themselves are. They'll print story after fake story full of shopped pictures blaming Israel for every little thing
and show pictures of supposed dead Pals but they never show one picture
of the Israeli suffering or Israeli dead from Pal attacks. Only the Pals are suffering according to those news sources who wouldn't know truth if it smacked them in the teeth. The only reasons the Gazans are suffering is because Hamas keeps everything for themselves so those doing without can go on being propoganda pieces like they had a choice.

I have noticed this, recently, as well, and it did strike me, today, in particular. I hope the MSM is waking up.

------------

I am very sorry it has come down to this, but at the same time glad that Israel is retaliating, at last. For every rocket Hamas fires, Israel should respond with ten times as many. Since Hamas will not relent of its own accord, they must be brought to their knees by Israel's superior force. It's all Hamas will understand.

As for the liberal left, not all of us are as brainwashed as Daisy. And if the MSM starts reporting the truth, more will come around.

I remain confounded by the American progressive movement’s widespread refusal to stand behind the Palestinian people as they are subjected to an endless barrage of colonialist, racist aggression.

I remain confounded as to why the American Progressive Movement isn't laughed out of existence.

I'm seriously starting to believe the left has no representation, no politician is as crazy as the left in this country. Leftish politicians can be problematic, but they pale in comparison to their supporters, who spent about a week celebrating before completely turning on Obama. How left would Obama have to go to keep his supporters happy? The destruction of capitalism? The destruction of Israel? Neither of those things are a possibility for any politician, only in the imaginations of the leftist hordes.

Gaza "elected" Hamas...and actions have consequences (as we will soon find out as well). If Hamas hadn't been raining Katushas on Israel, these airstrikes would not have happened. Again. Actions=Consequences.

My guess is that these IAF strikes are about as precise as by any air force in the world. Unlike their enemies, they truly try not to target non-combatants.

Pray for the IAF.
Pray for Israel.
Pray for peace.

re: #26 Joo-LiZ

In reading articles from a variety of sources -- I can't help but see (amongst the usual condemnation of Israel), a slightly "relieved" or "less-anti-Israeli" tone than I am used to.

I see articles making an effort to point out that Gaza is the HAMAS-run territory (a.k.a. the bad one), or else they include mention of the rockets (which no doubt would normally have been ignored).

Is it possible that there is actually a genuine disdain for Hamas, as much as the MSM wants to root for the Palestinian cause?

I suspect there is a distaste for Hamas. Hamas is not great with hasbarah.

96 SanFranciscoZionist  Sat, Dec 27, 2008 3:06:43pm

re: #32 Joo-LiZ

What a roundabout way to say those last two words.

It's pretty pro-forma--you have to

1. mention racism against the Mizrahim (ignoring the racism that sent them running to Israel from Arab countries they'd been living in a coupla thousand years) Also, ignore the fact that interal color and culture prejudice in OTHER diaspora groups is CAUSED by colonialism, among Jews it IS colonialism...

2. Trash the Russians

Then you can support Israel, sorta.

But those last two words count for a lot, IMW

I am shocked and saddened by the colonialist atrocities taking place in the Gaza Strip today. The Zionist air force is crushing traditional Palestinian dwellings (many hundreds of metres long and up to a meter wide) that are partially within the traditional villages of Al HaBorder and 'Nit Dewahl.

Furthermore, the mainstream media compounds these inexcusable attacks by claiming that that Palestinians have been launching "home-made rockets". Firstly, since when is it a crime to launch fireworks to celebrate the birth of Your Lord? Secondly, these rockets are not home made. Producing armaments in civilian areas would be a breach of the conventions to which the Palestinians are not signatories. These rockets are produced in highly sophisticated laboratories that have been temporarily occupied by refugees since time immemorial.

The latest false claims by the Zionist-occupied media are that all Hamas security installations have been destroyed. Once again we see how the Zionists wish to take all security from Palestinians! How are they to feel secure without security installations? The imagined "attack" on a Hamas graduation ceremony which "killed" many policemen is yet another hypothetical instance of this. I, for one, know that I would be happy and proud to see masked gunmen roaming the streets. If this were to have happened it would have been yet another deprivation caused by the Zionist entity.

One ray of light remains, as bright as the traditional fireworks produced within Hamas medical and humanitarian facilities. This is the knowledge that Hamas' friends in the West Bank, Jordan, and Egypt will not stand by and let these atrocities continue. They will surely issue strongly worded notes within a day or two.

If they want "self-determination" Israel needs to let them have it (pun intended), i.e., Israel should immediately recognize the state of Palestine (Gaza) and lobby for its admission as a full member of the UN. As soon as Palestine is a member, any violence exported by Palestine to the territory of member state Israel can be met by Israel under UN charter article 51 with whatever force Israel deems necessary to halt the aggression and to do so with utter impunity under international law, even if it means that Israel would need to reduce every structure in Gaza to a smoldering pile of rubble. That's the price of admission to the community of nations if a would-be nation refuses to accept the rule of international law.

This is a great summary of the real situation and real folks - the palis continue to be pawns of the ROP and the mid-east.

Dropped a little history on the KOS:
(In response to poster "JericoJ8" who wrote "If Israel and Palestine can't play nice take their sand box away.")

Sandbox? Ooooh. Big talk, big boy. (0+ / 0-)
[Link: www.dailykos.com...]

Ummm...

Sorry sweetheart, you forget that Uncle Albert and ol' Dr. Oppenheimer BUILT the "sandbox" to try to give their kids a safe place to play where the NAZIs and their ilk might not kill them.

HAMAs wasn't invited. In fact, at that time, HAMAs' uncles (e.g., the Ikhwan) were busy collaborating with the NAZIs throughout western asia and the Balkins

"How did Hamas come into being? Following the incidents that sparked the Intifada on December 8, 1987, the seven men who composed the senior leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimun, decided to transform the organization in Palestine into a resistance movement to be known as Hamas. It was on December 14, 1987 that Hamas came into being. These events were preceded by the Ikhwan, between 1967 and 1977, trying to regain some of the ground they had lost to secular nationalist movements working against the Israeli occupation. Outside Palestine, in Egypt and Kuwait, Palestinian student communities played a major role in revolutionizing the thinking within the movement as a whole."

[Link: www.researchsea.com...]

"Islamism and National Socialism have cursed democracy and shared political scapegoats since the 1920s when they both emerged as ideologically-driven political forces to serve their respective elites.

The Arab reflection of Mein Kampf was penned by Hassan al-Banna - founder of "al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun," an early incarnation of the Brotherhood - a
"supreme guide" who dwelt endlessly on "the sickness" that has defiled the
Muslem world and threatened to leave it spiritually diminished.

Al-Ikhwan mustered a score of Islamist terror organizations in 1928. The
organization received funding from the Saudis about this time, and in the
1930s Al-Ikhwan established a ligation in Munich to assist in fund-raising
for Adolph Hitler and his National Socialist Party."

I'm a frequent Kos contributor and check out LGF sometimes because you all intrigue me. Despite our political differences I learn a lot from LGF and there are some great commenters here.

The diary on the Rec list at DKos is an abomination and as a proud pro-Israel Democrat I'm deeply disturbed it's there at all. I'm heartened by the fact that there are many good pro-Israel and proud Zionist commenters on Daily Kos who are fighting the good fight against those who oppose the existence of the State of Israel and/or are supportive of Hamas. This is the first time I can remember that a diary like this has made the recommended list at DKos, and while it may not be the last rest assured that despite the vast differences between the Republican and Democratic parties there remain many good, strong and committed pro-Israel commenters on Daily Kos who won't allow these kinds of diaries to remain unchallenged.

Take care. And if the urge ever strikes any of you you should sign up for an account at Daily Kos and help us out in defending Israel. We may disagree on a great deal but in our defense of the state of Israel and the Jewish people we're as one.

They're just idiots who want to seem intelligent by taking the counterintuitive side of the argument. Most people with Western values who despise terrorism and targeting innocent people would side with Israelis, so jackasses like this have to show how much more insightful they are by siding with the terrorists. Plus it's a chance to bash America, so the Kosmonauts can't really help themselves.
