LA Times Writer Praises JihadTV

Los Angeles Times writer Ashraf Khalil complains that the Arab satellite channel Al Jazeera isn’t available in the US, and as evidence of their excellent reporting he shows a video clip by an Al Jazeera reporter trolling hospital beds in Gaza: In praise of Al Jazeera.

The report Khalil praises is blatant propaganda, with the sole purpose of inflaming emotions against Israel.

And of course, this is the cleaned-up, sanitized Al Jazeera for Western consumption. If you watch them in Arabic you get the real stuff.

For example, this incredibly vile birthday party for released terrorist Samir Kuntar—who shot a child’s father in front of her, then bashed the little girl’s brains out with a rifle butt.

Click picture to play video. Requires Windows Media Player; Mac users should install Flip4Mac.

This sickening, utterly depraved show alone should prevent Al Jazeera from ever being picked up by US cable providers, but people like Ashraf Khalil are doing their best to trick the American public into looking elsewhere.

Al Jazeera is vile... Are they Saudi based? Man we should happen to take them off the air by accident...

I was away and did not realize that Israel was finally attacking Gaza... Good for Israel. I guess they figure they had only another month of total US support for their actions... However, the fact that our do-nothing Administration is once again urging restraint is troubling...

A staged T.V. terrorist birthday party. This is sick. It's insane and just plain perverse.

And L.A. Times sympathizing with a terrorists news source doesn't surprise me.

There's another crucial distinction between Jazeera and the Western press. The channel doesn't shield its viewers from the horrors of war.

But it does cover staged news as "real" news. And it understands that they control propaganda for it's viewers.

Egypt cancels New Year's Eve over Gaza 'massacres'

Egypt has cancelled official New Year's Eve events in solidarity with the suffering of the Palestinians being "massacred" in Gaza, the state-owned Al-Ahram daily reported on Wednesday.

"In solidarity with the painful events in the Palestinian territories and the massacres which Gazans are faced with ... the ministries of culture and information have decided to cancel New Year's festivities," the paper said.

The Egyptians can always creep up to the border and watch the fireworks from Gaza.

90 Ayatollah Ghilmeini  Wed, Dec 31, 2008 9:37:42am

Someday Soon

Recent military events tell us that the days of Stalingrad style urban warfare are over. Modern military western small unit combat methods with troops trained in house to house fighting have removed much of the the advantage of the untrained entrenched fighter. There is still plenty of death and someone's son will be the first through a deadly door to die. But the key to remember is Second Fallujah, the Marines lined up, went in and the Jihadis got crushed. Yes Hamas has placed rockets, mines and EFPs to create deathtraps but these will only slow down the offensive, not stop it. Without strategic depth, supporting ar or artillery, the ground operation of Cast Lead will end only one way: complete defeat for Hamas. I may have to never say a bad thing about Hosni Mubarak after the way he stuck a knife in Hamas' back and cut the border and political support; with the only avenue of air cut, Jihadis and ammo are not getting in and one of the first rules of modern warfare is today's weapons use a lot of ammo. The second rule is when you run out of ammo, bend over and kiss your butt goodbye. Hamas seems to have restablished some semblance of command and control over their units or at least the survivors have reverted to earlier orders. Once the invasion hits, units will be quickly decimated and destroyed. In modern house to house fighting, units use bypass and flow tactics to isolate and surrround enemy hard points, hit them from unexpected directions and even blast holes from home to home to avoid snipers firing down the streets. With precise real-time overhead tactical views and specialized urban combat systems, the biggest threat to Israeli troops are hidden hard points and tunnels. These provide Hamas terrorists the ability to move unseen and attack, delay and tie down troops. Unfortunately for the terrorists, Israel's Military Intelligence and Mossad (with help from Fatah, sweet irony that) have developed a lot of knowledge of where those tunnels and hard point are and have specific plans for how to take them out. Tunnels are no fun to fight in but once the army has the entrance, there are specific tactics for cleaning them out and prevent them from being used against you again.

The key to remember is this thing is only going one way. It will be a tough hard slog but Israel's army has really trained up from where they were in 2006 and while Hamas is much better armed and trained, they do not have the means to win.

Lastly, Israel's Army commander is a hard assed ground pounder who knows his stuff. Everything we have seen so far indicates he is a capable ferocious general who takes no half measures when it comes to taking out the enemy. His rules of engagement seem to indicate he has been ordered to annihilate Hamas in preparation for new management for Gaza; it is clear he demanded any war end in victory and the politicos agreed. This is not a man you want to face. Especially when he has the 2nd most powerful airforce in the world and 25 modern well trained divisions at his disposal. He is the kind of guy who carries his rifle everywhere he goes because his soldiers are required to do so; Hamas should have taken my advice and ceased fire on Day 1, Maj. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi is their worst nightmare.

Hezbollah and Syria better think long and hard before they throw so much as a stone over the northern border, he has plans for them too. Implicit in the Gaza war is Hamas' removal as a above ground political force, this is strategic regime change and it is my belief that Ashkenazi will insist that any war with Hezbollah or Syria end the same way. Their first mistake will be their last.

The LA Times exemplefies what I think about liberals. You can't be judgemental, so there is no right and wrong, therefore there can be no Evil, as either a verb or a noun. This alone makes liberals evil in my mind.

Exactly.
Once I was discussing a book with my class, and a student said, "Well, we can't judge; it's up to each person what's right and wrong." The rest of the class began to nod in wise agreement but sat up suddenly when I said. "Oh, yes, we can judge, and yes, there is right and wrong. Justifying a wrong action doesn't make it right."

That was one of the best discussions ever.

The slow burn suicide of the West

I'm not sure if I sound unduly pessimistic, but what I am currently reading on various message boards and watching and listening to on TV in the West is starting to convince me of one thing - we are seeing the last rites of Western civilization as we know it being played out before our very eyes. If a Western Roman Empire citizen who died in say 420 AD could come back to life, he would see so many parallels between the present day West, and the Rome he last saw on his deathbed. In his last moments he knew the barbarians were breaching the walls of the Empire, and that the Empire was a shadow of its former self, and no longer producing the calibre of men needed to reverse the dire situation it found itself in, whilst the barbarians, though far less technically advanced - had the drive, determination, cunning and fighting spirit to destroy Rome within a few short decades. Troops had already been withdrawn from Britain to prop up the borders of the Western Empire ten years before his death. Sound familiar today? You bet it does. We are letting down our Israeli allies and encouraging the Islamobarbarians through the self-hating do-nothing beliefs of our press and media, the dysfunctional and highly destructive leftist-Islamist alliance, our stupid notion that it is racism and bigotry to believe in ourselves, and although the enemy we face is light years behind us technologically and militarily, we are giving ground to them in some way every day, and always seek to accommodate their sensibilities at the expense of our own.

There's no determination or political will to survive here in the West. We're always looking for the quick and easy way out at what we think is minimal cost to ourselves and our mortal enemies, and failing to realise that no such way out exists without our own self worth being corroded and the foundations of the West being undermined. We cannot summon up the will to destroy them, and stupidly refuse to get it into our heads that their core texts summon them to destroy and enslave us. We pretend it’s just a 'tiny minority' who want to do this to us, whilst refusing to take heed of the vast levels of support the Islamobarbarians enjoy in the Islamic world, the things they actually say about us and will do to us if they're given the chance. The Winston Churchill’s we used to produce are nowadays discredited and but a distant memory. Political correctness and moral relativism dictate how we live today and how we handle our enemies and have drained us of our moral fibre. Worse still, a large section of the population are on a guilt trip over perceived 'past sins' and think we deserve what is coming our way and have accepted it as a given. This is a recipe for cultural suicide. Sooner or later, perhaps in the next 100 years or so, we will have handed ourselves, and more importantly our descendants - created out of our own flesh and blood - over to these barbarians, and not only that, we will have become the first civilization in the 6,000 years history of human civilization to do so to those who, on paper, were weaker than us, and could have destroyed many times over, were it not for those stupid Western liberals and leftists who openly sided with them. I'm afraid our ancestors aren't looking down too kindly upon us, and must now be incandescent with rage at the thought that they sacrificed so much in two World Wars and outside the walls of Vienna, only for us to throw it all away, and all because we lacked their courage, conviction and determination to stay the course.

CNN had a CAIR talking head... and I was actually incredibly surprised.

The anchor didn't quite know what he was talking about... but he clearly knew the CAIR guy was spewing falsehoods, he tried to change to topic of conversation from Israeli atrocity to what the Pals could do.

CAIR guy: "Israel is an evil occupying force... can you imagine that in today's day and age, a military power is blockading the Gaza Ghetto and forcing little children to starve?"

CNN Anchor: "but... but... excuse me sir, but I heard reports today saying that the Arab League had made a statement claiming that the Palestinian political division is to blame for all this. Let me phrase a question... what kind of solution can come from the Palestinian side themselves? ... will this aspect be brought up at the protests nation wide?"

It's not much, but it's definitely much more than I ever expected from CNN.

The UN "Refugee" camps exist for two reasons, and two reasons, only:

1. The Arab countries surrounding Israel (especially Jordan) refuse to permit the "refugees" to immigrate and become citizens, normalizing their lives;

2. The "refugees" instead become cannon fodder, both political and actual, for the surrounding Arab countries who wish Israel ill.

'I didn't see any of my girls, just a pile of bricks'

An Israeli bomb struck the refugee camp's Imad Aqil mosque around midnight, destroying the building and collapsing several shops and a pharmacy nearby. The force of the blast was so massive it also brought down the Balousha family's house, which yesterday lay in ruins. The seven eldest girls were asleep together on mattresses in one bedroom and they bore the brunt of the explosion. Five were killed where they lay: Tahrir, 17, Ikram 15, Samer, 13, Dina, eight and Jawahar, four.

They were the latest in a growing number of civilian casualties in Israel's bombing campaign.

There's a third reason - UNRWA is a bureaucracy uninterested in resolving the refugee status, but rather exists to perpetuate it.

They continue to classify refugee camps in Gaza as such even though Gaza has been under Palestinian civil administrative control since the Oslo Accords in 1993 and Israel has wholly withdrawn from Gaza since 2005. It's Jew free. Yet, the refugee camps persist.

Gazans and Hamas have no interest in seeing the camps gone either. To them, it's a terrorist incubator.

My favorite question to ask a student is "why do you think that?" At first they're usually gobsmacked, but they do figure out how to support an argument as the year goes on. Better yest, if one of them spouts nonsense, the other kids jump on it with counter arguments so I don't have to.

I've always told my students that they can express any idea they want in my class as long as they don't mention other teachers' names and use "school appropriate" language AND they can back it up with facts.

When your brothers were struck at the Battle of Uhuh, Allah placed their spirits in the insides of green birds, who go to the rivers of paradise, eat from its produce, and then alight upon candles of gold in the shadow of the Throne. When they realise the goodness of their drink and food, and the beauty of their rest, they say: “Would that our brothers knew what Allah has done with us, so that they too would devote themselves to jihad, and not abstain from battle”. “

After the execution of the Bali terrorist murderers, jihadis were pathetically excited at the appearance of two green birds:

SubhanAllah.. here are two green birds that were never seen before in that village, came after moments of the burrial of the three Indonessian brothers and started to fly around their tombs..

First there is political will here in the West; our wonderful Armed Forces have in fact been killing the enemy by the truckloads and the enemy, noted for it's cunning, if not it's brilliance, has allowed itself, time after time, to get suckered into a fight with our Armed Forces, WHO ALWAYS WIN those fights.
Additionally, I do not believe that the majority of Muslims want or at least are willing to die for, the goals of settin up the Caliphate - in fact I think it's quite the opposite.
We are now, today, in a weaker position than we should be (I'm speaking primarily of Europe here) but not such a weak position that we still can't prevail. And new leaders in France and Germany have signaled that the "old days" of yutes burning cars and the like are done with.
Israel should deliver a massive blow to the jihadists; note that when Ahmadinnerjacket called on all Muslims to support the Palestinians, the resulting answer was *crickets*.
I agree it's going to be a long hard fight, but I do believe we will prevail.

The "refugee camps" are still called that simply and solely because of UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East). As its name suggests (though not its acronym), UNRWA's only raison d'etre is to preserve the refugee status of those who otherwise could well have integrated long since into the societies in which they find themselves. This is particularly absurd when one looks at the "camps" in the West Bank and Gaza. These are Palestinians living in and surrounded by territory that is supposed to be part of a future Palestinian state. Why are they deemed "refugees"? The millions of ethnic Germans who were expelled after WWII from the East were quickly absorbed into society by the remaining German state (which lost about a third of its territory as a result of the two world wars). Their irredendist cries of "Schlesien bleibt unser!" (Silesia remains ours!) were loud at first, but except in the form of social clubs, they have no voice in German society anymore. And like the ethnic Germans, the vast majority of the Palestinian "refugees" were the victims of the lost war of aggression started by the Arab states immediately after the original partition of Palestine. In other words, their circumstances are not Israel's fault, but that of their so-called leaders.

So why are Palestinians still living in "refugee camps" 60 years after the fact? The answer is that they, with the essential and unwavering aid of UNRWA, are kept in that status as an open sore with which to accuse Israel. More than that, their existence is among the reasons that so many Palestinians will not accept the Jewish State's very existence. For, if there are "refugees", the implication is that they might someday return to the places they used to inhabit. Obviously that's never going to happen, so the resentment against Israel is artificially increased every day the "camps" persist.

There is no other group of "refugees" in the world whose children and grandchildren (in fact, all descendants through the male line) are deemed to also be "refugees" long after they were born in whatever place their parents came to. UNRWA maintains this fiction for transparently false reasons and harmful ends.

Here, by the way, is what UNRWA says about the Israeli operations in Gaza:

The Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Karen AbuZayd, expressed her horror to [sic] the extensive destruction visited upon Gaza Strip today and her deep sadness to [sic] the terrible loss in human life. UNRWA, the United Nation’s Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, strongly urges the Israeli Government to heed calls for ceasing its bombardment on Gaza. Israel is a signatory to international conventions that protect non-combatants in times of conflict. These conventions are worthless if they are not upheld.

UNRWA has turned an entire people, able-bodied as well as those who truly need aid, into a multi-generational population of welfare dependents. Its existence is one of the greatest failures of the UN. It should be abolished.

But it'll just go on and on, and no end in sight.

Meh.

Well written and concise. I hope and wish accurate.
If you do not mind saying, where is your skill and observation from?

I have studied military history with particular focus on Israel for more than 35 years. In addition, I have studied with many Israeli officers over the years analyzing specific battlefields and modern Israeli military capabilities and units.

The US took Fallujah with less than 120 dead. Gaza is much less prepared but with more Jihadis. Expect similar results.

120, that's a big number for the IDF.

re: #163 Iron Fist

First Happy New Year to you and the rest of my fellow lizards.

Fist, this war has a different feel so far than previous inconclusive fights. No question Israel has let golden opportunities slip away, that is the tragedy of 2006. Yes the international pressure will build the longer things go on. But remember right now artillery is raining on Beersheva and Ashkelon and that is a very huge bad thing in the mind of Israeli voters. This transformed Hamas from a mere nuisance affecting the lives of a few thousand people to exposing almost 400,000 plus to life in range of Hamas. This breaches a major psychological barrier in the minds of Israelis; it changes the acceptable goals in the situation from fire suppression and crisis management to regime change for Gaza. DM Barak and FM Livni are leaders of their respective parties and they know, know that they face complete loss of power if they don't nail Hamas hide to the shed. If they fail to see it through to the end, it is an unmitigated disaster of enormous proportions; I will go so far as to say Israel at the very least will change governments and then fight this war again real soon or Israel faces the end of her rope. Hamas changed the rules of the game expecting the old underlying no regime change rules to apply. They made the fundamental mistake unrepresentative regimes make of not understanding how real democracies respond.

The current PM is G-d's own military shithead but he too knows he is facing criminal charges and he faces a far better likelihood of avoiding prison if he is politically rehabilitated from his cosmic screw up of 2006. In addition, Livni, who he disparately needs to succeed him as PM (can you spell pardon) will not be PM unless she wins at the polls. These things only come from a complete victory. Lastly, there is uncertainty about the new US administration, the time to strike is now and and Israel's leaders know it. Ergo, this situation is different this time around.

Happy New Year again, bro, and I hope we share a special bottle again soon under a summer sky in the greatest nation man has every known.

Don't think for a minute that these dangerous maniacs are not in your town! When the word comes down, they will attack malls, gas stations, schools and it will be very ugly and will kill a lot of innocent Americans. If you don't have a concealed carry, please consider exercising your right to have one if you are willing and able.

I felt much better in the mall this Christmas season with my Glock on my side. We must be vigilant and prepared for terrorist savages.

re: #171 jcm

Israel's Doctrine of Purity of Arms will see her take more casualties than in a US mission. So while probably the fight will be smaller than Fallujah, without just blasting the buildings down on the terrorists, Israel will lose more boys. We have debated Purity of Arms before, some here thinks its crazy for Israel to do but many, including me, believe when coupled with the doctrine of getting you back no matter what makes Israel's soldiers believe totally in the fight and gives them very high morale. Every Army is different and every country can decide what trade-offs to make and how to define who you are by how you fight.

In the end war is war and nothing changes the fact these kids are fighting for the existence of the Jewish people. In the end, in the hell of warfare, these boys will decide if a certain situation doesn't require the fullest application of Purity of Arms. What cannot be argued is they are fighting genocidal Hitler-loving scum, every single one of whom are brainwashed with the same mentality of the Nazis; history teaches us such people belong dead or in prison, they are beyond the pale of humanity and the only proven medicine for dealing with them is total defeat.

re: #166 Ayatollah Ghilmeini Well we both know that it's really DIFFICULT to anticipate casualties - at least it was when I was an infantryman in Vietnam - but that was, iirc, 120 KIA; don't know about WIA or MIA - it seems to me that that's a pretty significant number for the IDF.
Nonetheless I hope and pray that you are correct; I hate to see ANY casualties on "our" side, but I think that your estimate, based upon Fallujah II, may be somewhat low.
And Lord knows I hope your estimate is high!
Again a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year to you.

Happy New Year to you RW.

You are right, it is an estimate and war is the most unpredictable of human endeavors and for our side any is too many.

The sad thing is the butchers bill in 2006 would have been so much less.

re: #90 Ayatollah Ghilmeini

Someday Soon

Recent military events tell us that the days of Stalingrad style urban warfare are over. Modern military western small unit combat methods with troops trained in house to house fighting have removed much of the the advantage of the untrained entrenched fighter. (...)

Look at it from the Adam Smith perspective. The ill-trained, ill-equipped soldier is at a disadvantage in any fight, on any terrain. The fields of Scotland are poor farmground, and the Scottish farmer, competing with the French peasant, is at a disadvantage growing malt and barley, let alone grapes for wine. But he has a relative advantage when growing malt and barley. Likewise, the Hamas fighter has a relative advantage in tunnel ridden, thickly populated urban areas.

Cluster bombs, MOABS, and heavy artillery are off limits there, though they would be fair means in open warfare across the desert, and though through most of history, urban ground combat has been conducted with little regard for civilian casualties.

The Hamas war machine can hope to inflict some casualties and impose some expenditure of ammo and man-hours on Israel. Fighting from hospitals and mosques and family homes, they can force Israel to kill civilians and destroy sacrosanct buildings. Though the Geneva conventions give the green light to such collateral damage, the media do not. This means Hamas will score some points in the propaganda war.

Hamas cannot make any kind of fight at all out in the desert. Their best military use, to the extent cannon fodder is good for anything, is as city fighters.

 Frank says:

This is Frank Zappa saying, Don't do speed. Speed turns you into your parents. -- this used to play OFTEN as a public service announcement(PSA) on radio station WHFS at 102.5 FM in bethesda,MD.USA during the early '70's. it was followed by a nearly inaudible whisper, "...but grass and acid are o.k.", which may have been frank, or one of the mothers.
