The ones who wear me down are bores.
They whine like skeeters, drone like flies,

The moths represent change as do the changing weather patterns as in climate change. The polar bear floating on the small iceberg turning into a brown bear perhaps is the artist's impression that the polar bear will disappear with the ice. The cloak figures walking along throughout the video and standing on the dock can do nothing to stop the changes occurring because they won't or simple because they can't stop the changes that are happening. Mute witnesses.

I'm off in a few minutes to a former nuclear armed missile guidance radar site that has been converted into a park and cold war historical artifact. Santa Monica mountains in time for the sunset. Should be an interesting subject for photography. The valley had a number of these installations. The missiles were to be launched from a site in the mountains north of the valley and from a site on the valley floor near Van Nuys Airport. Cold war history.

You can't, but if it produces an EMP you can use a shotgun to defend yourself and your supply hoard (if you have one). That likely won't happen, but a solar flare created an EMP you'd be in very bad shape if you lived in a city.

According to the link you provided, this would be considered a C3 class flare:
[Link: spaceweather.tv...]
Scientists classify solar flares according to their x-ray brightness in the wavelength range 1 to 8 Angstroms. There are 3 categories: X-class flares are big; they are major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. M-class flares are medium-sized; they can cause brief radio blackouts that affect Earth's polar regions. Minor radiation storms sometimes follow an M-class flare. Compared to X- and M-class events, C-class flares are small with few noticeable consequences here on Earth.

Nothing, other than the fact that we must prepare for a worse flare in the future. Unlike AGW, we cannot prevent or stop a solar flare. All we can do is try to ameliorate its effects.

What do solar flares really mean?
Solar flares are just ejection of high energy particles from the Sun. We've had a relative lull in solar storms the past couple years, so maybe that's why a relatively minor event is causing such a stir.

Nope. The electromagnetic discharge won't likely directly harm you. Tinfoil won't protect electronics. The only way to protect them is to harden them or place them in a metal container called a Faraday Cage. Some things might also be protected with sufficient surge suppression.

Never fear.
My old dog Penny used to go crazy for joy when I would come home after a trip. Haku, bless his service-dog butt, gets to go with me wherever I go, but Penny had to stay behind.
One time I took her to visit my old high-school music teacher in Massachusetts, who totally fell in love with her. He said to her (not to me, but in my hearing), "If Cato ever goes away, you can come stay with me."
A few months later I had the chance to go to Europe for an extended tour of writing aphorisms and limericks on demand, so I took Jack up on the offer and drove Penny up to Conway and left her there for about five weeks.
When I got back, it was deepest New England winter and she was sacked out in front of the fireplace. Jack had to wake her up and tell her I was there.
Have you ever seen a dog do a double-take before? Penny did.
Then she went nuts for a full twenty-five minutes, spinning, rolling, jumping, and singing Husky songs until she got over the fact that I was back.
I always told her I would be.

Well SFZ will be pleased, Sidney Harman just bought Newsweek away from the Washington Post. No doubts about it ever failing to support Israel now, unless perhaps they completely jump the shark on something...
Harman is 91 years old so I guess he doesn't care all that much about buying into a dying industry (newsweeklies), I'm quite sure he knows it is money down the drain. Now if he would just fire Fareed Zakaria from editor...who knows I might even renew my subscription instead of letting it lapse as I had planned.

Parliamentary porn screening probed
Sometimes, doing your job can be particularly disgusting. Or pleasurable – if you’re that way inclined.
Perverts had a fine time in Indonesia’s parliament building yesterday, with hardcore pornography being broadcast over the body’s internal information service, shocking journalists and bureaucrats who rely on the screens for updates on political events.
It was not clear how the images appeared on the screens but House Speaker Marzuki Alie said whoever was responsible would be punished, AFP reported.
"Whoever hacked the screens is insolent and will be reported to the authorities," he told reporters.
The incident is sure to embarrass President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who has recently backed calls for stricter controls on the internet following a national scandal over an online celebrity sex clip.
Ah... those insolent hackers, embarrassing the powers that be.

Here is something for people to talk about, I give you one of Jack Chick's sickest tracts ever, one they no longer publish (for good reason)..."Lisa."
So remember the moral to this story, if your raping your six year old daughter and also letting your neighbor do it so he won't turn you in, all you have to do is pray to Jesus and everything will be fine again. Your Doctor will not turn you in, or your neighbor, you can just pretend it never happened and go on with your life as a happy "saved" Christian.

Oh yes. the infamous 'Lisa' tract.
I have seen that.
It pretty much sums up the astonishing monstrosity of Chick's theology, in and of itself.
www.enterthejabberwock.com has a wonderful, and very funny, series of 'dissections' of Chick tracts.
Some of them are charmingly clueless. Some of them are stunningly evil.
The absolute best manage to combine the two.
