Tech Note: Email Comment Notifications, Now Active

LGF • Views: 2,636

Registered LGF readers have a new way to keep track of comments: you can now subscribe to an email list for any thread of comments (either a front page article or an LGF user’s Page), simply by clicking a checkbox. Any thread that allows comments now has a checkbox to enable/disable this feature, located at the lower left of the comment posting form.

I highly recommend setting up a mail rule to automatically file this email in its own folder, because it can be a little like turning on a firehose if you’re not ready for it.

Here’s how I handled it: I created a folder in my Apple Mail program called ‘LGF Comments’, then set up a rule to move incoming emails to that folder if they’re from ‘mailbot -at- littlegreenfootballs.com’ and the subject line starts with ‘[LGF Comment]’.

Create a PageThis is the LGF Pages posting bookmarklet. To use it, drag this button to your browser's bookmark bar, and title it 'LGF Pages' (or whatever you like). Then browse to a site you want to post, select some text on the page to use for a quote, click the bookmarklet, and the Pages posting window will appear with the title, text, and any embedded video or audio files already filled in, ready to go.
Or... you can just click this button to open the Pages posting window right away.
