Haven’t put up a diary entry for a while, but I’ve been riding! Today I met friend Dave and we went south on the
bike path down into Palos Verdes, climbed about halfway up Via Del Monte then took a cutoff down to Palos Verdes Drive, and dropped down Paseo Del Mar (great riding; they recently put new blacktop on the whole road and it’s smooth as a baby’s bottom). Then we climbed back up to PV Drive and battled a ~20 mph headwind down to Hawthorne Boulevard, where we turned around. Got back to Paseo Del Mar and dropped back down, then did the climb out to PV Drive, rode back to PV, climbed back up to Via Del Monte on the same cutoff, and did the short climb around the Palos Verdes Country Club. Total distance: 52 miles. (Well, 51.87, but who’s counting?) Max speed: 44 mph. Average: 15.0 mph.
OK, I’m a little tired. But that tailwind sure was nice on the way home; we kept it at 20 mph and above the whole way.
