I was thinking about hockey before I got to the part where you brought it up. That nut, Stephen Webb, who said, "soccer is a European sport because it is all about death and despair" also wrote another psychotic screed for the Wall Street Journal titled, "Soccer is Ruining America."

What a bunch of dweebs. Are they jealous or something? No one says you have to enjoy watching soccer. I know I'm not a big fan. It's all a matter of culture or taste. Soccer was very popular in South Jersey during the 1970s and I knew several players who came from a variety of cultural background. My father played soccer almost daily growing up in Argentina and while he was a seminary.

Here's an idea for News Busters. How about they write a comparison of the physical requirements of soccer towards golf or that other great American sport, bowling.

Worth 1000 is a joke photoshop site. Fox will probably dip into that well once or twice more before they recoil in udder* horror when they see one of their sacred cows being humorously gored.

*wait for it...

*sigh*

These imbeciles even find anti-American sentiment in soccer? I'd say I was surprised, but that would be a lie.

Oh well. Their loss. The World Cup is great fun, and I'm having a blast following all the matches and coverage. I'm not going to let these cretins ruin my fun. :D

One of our yokel radio hosts, Robert Pratt, refers to soccer as "communist football."

What a dweeb unit. Can he please explain to me how David and Victoria Beckham are Communists? Or the rest of the highly payed soccer players in the world?

It's true. Americans are so insular. They need to get out more. Of course that's kind of hard since we have the lowest vacation time in the industrialized world. Suckers.

I dislike golf and NASCAR, but I am somehow able to refrain from opining on them when those topics come up among people I know. Furthermore, I do not feel any urge to educated people about WHY golf and NASCAR are not any good. Naturally, the whole concept that the scoring is too low is a fallacy. Were it not, the 2-1 win for Chicago over San Jose in the first match of the Stanley Cup semis would have been universally derided...while a tape of the Texas Rangers 13-12 triumph over the Kansas City Royals would be on its way to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
