Burning car rammed into synagogue
TOULOUSE (AFP)—A synagogue in a residential suburb of the southern French city of Toulouse came under attack late Monday when a car was rammed against its gates and set alight, local officials said.
Another vehicle containing petrol bombs was found nearby.
“Nobody was hurt in the blaze which has not been claimed,” said Anne-Gaelle Baudouin-Clerc, spokeswoman for the district prefecture.
A local rabbi was giving a lecture in the synagogue when the incident occurred. Neighbors raised the alarm, Baudouin-Clerc said, adding that a second vehicle containing three unused Molotov cocktails was found nearby.
The attack was immediately condemned by Jewish and anti-racist bodies in France.
