Thank you for this. I am second generation American; my ancestors HY”D were from Vilna and Kovno.

I am originally from Boston, which has the largest number of Lithuanian Jews in the USA…possibly the world.

After the war, all the letters sent were returned ‘addressee unknown’ to my grandmothers ZT”L…..I wish that someone in the family had saved them. I was still a child in 1945, etc. I have a number of photos; no names. There is just 1 letter, written in English, as the boy who wrote it was a student at the Sorbonne, but chose to come back home to his parents, with a photo, but they were also lost in the Shoah.

Thank you Nana, actually I was hoping you’d see this,I remembered you had family there. In certain sections of the site there are a number of family photos that the site owners are hoping for identification.

re: #2 JHW

Again, thank you so much, and thank you for your service, and that of your brother OBM…I am going to look it over, and have sent it to a cousin who is very interested in geneology. She has already put a number of missing pieces together, but is stuck re finding info on those that we lost in the Shoah.

My maternal grandfather ZT”L, an East Ender, was an Anglo-Jew who served in the Royal Navy as an apprentice at age 14. I am named in memory of both grandfathers. He had siblings in Boston, who were able to give information, etc.

His parents were also from Lithuania.
