TOKYO (Nikkei)—Hybrid vehicles accounted for 9.7% of last month’s new-auto sales in unit terms, up 7 percentage points on the year, according to industry group data compiled Friday.
Toyota Motor Corp.’s (7203) Prius was the top-selling model for the sixth straight month. Hybrids remain popular among car buyers, thanks to tax breaks and subsidies offered toward the purchase of fuel-efficient models since April.
