Let’s make one thing perfectly clear. Mr. Brennan did not defend Jihad as defined in recent years. Instead he redefines Jihad from a historical perspective.
For the readers of LGF I invite them to listen to the actual speech by John O. Brennan instead of reading it through the filter of Fox News:
Statesmen’s Forum: John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism
He expresses himself in an academic sense from his point of view and observations.
By the way. John O. Brennan was Acting Director of the National Counterterrorism Center during the Bush years.

Quite Orwellian of him.
Face it, this administration can’t even name the enemy, it’s afraid to.

Orwellian? Give me a break. He’s clear in his description and he presents a compelling and intelligent theory
He names the enemy and it is al-Qaida and the Taliban. It is not Islam and that is a fact. Continuing a strategy of seeing Islam as the enemy has led us nowhere since 2001 and in fact was rejected by the Bush administration as a whole.

re: #3 Gus 802
He names the enemy and it is al-Qaida and the Taliban
But it is not just them. It is radical Islamic extremism…which the current administration is afraid to speak of.
There’s about 2 dozen such groups on the US State department terror list.
And, there are millions of people who support those groups.
He names all those people associated with recent terror attacks and attempts, and yet will not say what links them all..Islam.
That’s unreality.
