The full, unedited Helen Thomas interview
The full, unedited Helen Thomas interview has now been posted.
No big surprises. The beginning and end were edited out in the original. Nothing was changed within the bounds of the previously published version.
The truly shocking thing is that she’s so unfailingly cordial about it, as though what she’s saying is, well, you know, just totally normal.
One part I missed in the original (it’s not new, I just didn’t really hear it before) is this:
“Remember, these people are occupied. And it’s their land. It’s not German[y] and it’s not Poland.”
And after saying they should go back to Germany, Poland “and everywhere else”, she adds (this is new): “Why push people out of their…who have lived there for centuries? See?”
As if the Jews haven’t been there for millennia.
When asked if she’s familiar with the history of the region, she says, “Very much. I’m of Arab background.” Not Lebanese, Arab.
Didn’t know that was a country. Oh, wait, I forgot about the Ummah, Islam’s version of “Christendom”!
Watch the whole thing. As much as I detest her obvious bias (which has been on display for years, and which people have covered for), I find the whole thing unaccountably sad.
I wonder, did she think this way as a young lady, when Israel was founded? She is 89, Israel is 62. She was 27 years old when the UN decreed the partition of Palestine. Has she felt this way for 62 years?
Please don’t post comments on this page to do with her looks. You and I should look so good at that age.
It’s what’s inside that matters.
