The Gainseville newspaper has the story:

[Link: www.gainesville.com…]

Under the fire ordinances the City Commission adopted last year, bonfires aren’t allowed without a permit, Hayes said.

Under Section 10-63, “Open burning and outdoor burning are prohibited in the City of Gainesville unless otherwise specifically permitted as provided by this article.“

The section goes on to prohibit burning newspaper, corrugated cardboard, container board or office paper, which are akin to books, Prince said.

Hayes said the denial had nothing to do with the church’s intent.

“It wouldn’t matter what the book is they’re burning,” he said.

Wait for the outrage to be poured out. Oh wait, it’s already started:

From the FreeRepublic comments on this story:

Wow!

Just want to be sure I understand the situation.

It’s ok to do the following:
1. Burn the US flag and it’s called freedom of expression;
2. Place the US flag in a jar of urine and it’s calle art;
3. Burn / desecrate the Holy Bible and/or Torah and it’s call freedom of expression;
4. Burn an effigy of GWB and it’s called freedom of expression;

But we cannot:
1. Burn the Koran;
2. Burn an effigy of Barack Obama or otherwise criticize him for his policies;
3….

Aw, the hell with it. I could continue to list all the B.S. politically correct crap that we can’t do, but we already know that it would be a waste of time and energy to do so.

When in heaven’s name are we going to take back our rights from the politically correct leftists and reclaim our birthright to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

This is complete insanity. Time to start hanging activist judges, lawyers, politicians and liberal elites in the public square.

So… Gainsville is officially enforcing Sharia law now… isn’t that just ducky?

How long before that Church gets torched… with it’s entire congregation locked up inside?
That’s an ancient and Islamically sacred Muslim tradition, you know.

If this Church follows through on this (and I hope a collection is taken to pay their fine and property taxes, as we can be sure their exempt status will be promptly revoked) they might want to revert to the old Colonial practice of coming to Church fully armed and post a guard outside at all times, 24/7. Search all new-comers for explosive vests before they get in the door.
Get ready to meet Jesus anyway, because when the mudsquats want to kill you, they usually find a way.

The “outraged Muslim” mob attacks on Churches and Synagogs haven’t started in America as they are common elsewhere the Muslims have infiltrated or conquored… yet. As their relative population grows, however, we can plan on it.
Get ready, America; prepare, Church.
Capitulation and appeasement will not save you.

… and so forth. Of course the idiots don’t bother to actually read the original article and find that open paper fires are banned in the city regardless of content of what is burnt.

There, I’m sure that’s what they meant. Must have been a typo.
