I down-dinged because Reason.com is anything but a source of truth. Yes, like a broken clock they might be correct twice a day but that is in spite of their efforts to spread falsehoods. The article linked discusses the Koch brothers, two of the most important sugar-daddies of libertarian fundamentalism and science denialism, so no wonder Reason has its feathers ruffled.

I still think "their side of the story" is worth learning about. As is the story as told by the opposing libertarian team from the Mises/Rothbard/Rockwell camp: [Link: webcache.googleusercontent.com...] and [Link: webcache.googleusercontent.com...]

PS: Regarding Lew Rockwell and his tie-ins with Ron Paul and the Ron Paul Newsletter, Charles himself pointed to the article by Reason unveiling the ugly race-baiting strategy. See [Link: littlegreenfootballs.com...]

re: #3 000G

The non-Rockwellians try to separate themselves from Rockwell etc. Still, I think Reason should be called "Blind Dogma".

If you're interested in libertarian soap opera, I see that Brink Lindsey and Will Wilkinson are leaving Cato. Both were part of the "liberaltarianism" movement (so dubbed by Brink.)

So it looks like the three flavors of libertarianism are pretty much going their own ways.

Regardless, I'm glad the Koch brothers are coming under more scrutiny.

What dogma, exactly? You could very well argue that libertarianism is juvenile but as a movement it is hardly dogmatic, as evidenced by the splits of various specific organizations you yourself referenced. There is no Libintern making sure that reason.com stays ideologically pure. I have seen quite a variety of stuff on there and I am not really convinced it should be thrown on the trash-heap in toto. And again: Even if you find the other side utterly ridiculous and disingenious, it is still worthwhile to learn about it.

Oh, I have been taking notice of the soap opera. I think it's fun and also testament to the fact how diverse and, maybe, also impractical the libertarians are.

And I agree with the whole "more scrutiny" thing. I don't see why anyone with a considerable ammount of power, be it monetary or political, should be given a free pass when it comes to journalistic targeting.

I was describing Reason, in particular, not libertarianism in general. The latter is as poorly defined now as it was in the 1970's when I first came across it. Lot's of people like the tag "libertarian" but they're no more uniform than "conservative" or "liberal".

Okay then, again: What dogma?

Fine, don't answer my perfectly legitimate question, then.
