Israel rabbi remarks on Palestinians ‘deeply offensive’: US

After decades of vitriolic Palestinian state sponsored hate, an Israeli Rabbi responds.

The United States on Sunday condemned as “deeply offensive” remarks by an influential Israeli rabbi who said he hoped Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas would “vanish from our world.”

“We regret and condemn the inflammatory statements by Rabbi Ovadia Yosef,” State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said in a statement.

“These remarks are not only deeply offensive, but incitement such as this hurts the cause of peace.”

No word yet from the State Department on Palestinian institutionalized racism, bigotry and hate.

What complete hypocrisy.
What that crazy “rabbi” said was indeed beyond the pale, but palestinian clerics have been preaching “kill the Jews—kill the Americans” for decades and not once has there been official US criticism for a specific incident of that hate speech.
All they need to do is go to MEMRI and they can view dozens if not hundreds of videos of such palestinian hate speech and calls to murder and genocide.

It would appear that only Israeli incitement is worthy of critical coverage.

A few more interesting notes: Even by Arab standards, this is a “real Jewish” rabbi (not one of those impostor Jews from Europe) /.
Also, he did not call for genocide as has been reported (that’s what the Palestinians said), but asked G-d to destroy the enemies of Israel and stated that Abbas and the Palestinians constitute “enemies” at this time. He has also said, time and again, that Israel should offer territory for peace because land is not worth blood.
The Arabs posture on this is funny and predictable. They are trying to find any excuse for the talks to fail, later stating that if they do it will be Israel’s fault. The fact the US bought into it is sad.
Assume there is no nuance to the speech given. Assume he said-kill Abbas and the Palestinians. Assume he is just as bad as many other Arab Imams-why single out Israel in your criticism? He would merely be another voice of hate in a mideast hate chorus with the majority of the vocals provided by the Arabs.
