sekrit wunderwaffen?

The cumulative impact of incremental developments in computer technology may eventually amount to a radical change. But Predator missiles are expensive, expensive enough that even if they were to hit first time every time, we will run out of them before our enemies run out of manpower.

Think of the Allied and Afghan Army lives not risked. Cost? Priceless.

Consider also, there is a much less educated/capable set of "followers" in that force. They don't have thinking, empowered to act "strategic corporals" in their ranks, that can take over and move out to complete the mission, despite the losses. Wax the leadership a few levels down, and yes, a few suicide bombers, but the organization is effective de-capitatied and will take a very long time to try to self train back to relevance/capability.

"Sekrit wanderwaffen?"
Sure, like radar, the atomic bomb, laser guidance, passive night vision, the A-12 and SR-71, and operational stealth aircraft, none of which were products of the Third Reich.

I notice you comment on the Hellfire's cost/effectiveness, but neglect to bring out real figures. A Hellfire missile costs around $68,000. If it were effective enough, we could afford millions of them compared to the overall cost of the various wars. There are not millions of jihadists and we are not counting on drones to kill them all in any case. In fact enemy manpower is already at the limit in the sense that there are no reserves waiting around for their chance: Every available volunteer is being thrown into the fight as soon as he gets to Pakistan.

Btw, do you really think Bob Woodward would be a tool spreading Goebbels-style false hopes?
It is very unlikely that the new development is a weapon in the usual sense anyway and that really is all I will say about it.
