Cato Institute gives Jindal A for gubernatorial performance but Reine Gives him a ‘D’
hoo-boy. Mark Sanford of South Carolina outscored Jindal. My, my, Jindal’s in GREAT company, eh?
Gov. Bobby Jindal’s stance against raising taxes is garnering recognition by a libertarian think tank.
The Cato Institute gave Jindal an “A” on Thursday in a report card on governors and their fiscal policies.
Jindal was one of four governors who received an “A.” Only one governor — Mark Sanford of South Carolina — outscored him.
Now, I like an official who is aware of the importance of a balanced budget. Unfortunately, it appears that much of the budget difficulty will be balanced on the back of the higher education system in Louisiana, with huge cuts scheduled for LSU.
In addition, we are of course, still suffering the effects of the drilling moratorium. That oil business was very important to the entire state, in terms of the state’s income. One would think, wouldn’t one, that Jindal would be doing whatever he could to try to get that moratorium lifted and the state back to business as usual.
But now let’s check out what was happening when the cameras were around, vs. what’s happening now.
During the oil spill, Jindal seemed to be everywhere, meeting, doing, speaking yada yada yada.
He gave the appearance of being very busy, doing a great job, and heck, I’m no Jindal fan, but even I thought he was doing a decent job of promoting the state’s needs during that time period.
Well, the leak is closed off, all the cameras are gone - but guess what? Problems remain. People are out of work, businesses are suffering, new drilling is non-existent due to the moratorium, and that oil business is very important to the well-being of the entire state.
Where’s Jindal? Dunno. He disappeared from view the same time all the cameras did.
What’s he up to right now? Why, it appears he will be leaving the state to campaign on behalf of somebody in New Hampshire. Not exactly what I would call a vitally important issue to the citizens of Louisiana still suffering the after-effects of the spill.
