There are no words for this. Just pure evil.

Incidentally, this is also part of the reason I get so pissed off at certain religious groups here in America constantly bitching about being persecuted in the US simply because their beliefs are challenged, criticized, or when 'secular humanists' get anything close to what resembles "equal time" in the mainstream.

Yes. We are in complete agreement.

And just today, the US State Department cited Israel as a 'violator' of religious freedoms, in the same category as Sudan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, etc

US State Dept. says Israel violates religious freedom

US State Dept: Israel Similar to Iran, Iraq and Sudan

US report on Religious Freedom expresses concern on situation of minorities in Pakistan

Clinton Details Religious Freedom, Nominee Faces Senators

It is all fucking insane. So Obama is putting the screws on Israel and actually comparing it to Pakistan where they are hanging a woman for being a Christian.

The world has gone insane. Just insane.

The second headline seems inaccurate to me. The US did not say that Israel is "similar" to Iran, Iraq, and Sudan. As the Beliefnet article mentions, the US has a short list of nations of which there is particular concern (such as with Iran), then a longer list of nations in which the US is observing what could be considered breeches of religious freedom (as understood in our American worldview of that phrase.)

Just because Israel doesn't violate religious freedoms on the scale of Pakistan doesn't mean it doesn't violate religious freedoms and pointing this out is not the same as comparing it to Pakistan. So let's not go overboard here.
