REVIEW - Oil-less Turkey Fryer
So, this year’s turkey was prepared by my brother in his oil-less turkey fryer.
This “fryer”, of course, can be used for many things, not just turkey. He’s done a pork loin in this, and other large pieces of meat can be prepared in here.
He used these injectable seasonings. For anyone not familiar with injectable seasonings, you inject the flavorings and seasonings directly into the meat (instructions are included), rather than putting them on the outside of the meat.
The instructions said to cook the turkey to an internal temperature of 170, but my brother likes his a little bit more well-done, so he cooked his turkey to an internal temperature of 180 degrees, about 10 minutes of cooking time per pound of turkey.
CAUTION: If you have a meat thermometer inserted into the turkey, be sure your oven mitt doesn’t have a big gaping hole in it when you go to remove the meat thermometer. OUCH!
It was delicious! Very tender and flavorful, the meat was literally falling off the bone. For a healthy alternative to fried turkey, this is HIGHLY recommended. I honestly had my doubts about how well this would work, but it was wonderful.
