N. Korea threatens ‘Holy War’
Anyone believe they will actually attack with nukes?
San Francisco residents are learning that in the Korean peninsula the exchange of words has grown dire. An official in N. Korea said his country is “preparing to begin a holy war” and that holy war will include nuclear weapons.
San Francisco has a large Korean community and many are worried about loved ones back in North Korea and South Korea and they worry what will happen if there is a holy war. The San Francisco Bay Area Korean website can be found here
The remark about a holy war including nuclear weapons came in answer to a huge military display that South Korea has been carrying out - in fact there have been three such displays this past week.
The President of South Korean, Lee Myung-bak, retaliated to the threat from the North with the statement: “We had believed patience would ensure peace on this land, but that was not the case.”
It doesn’t help things that North Korea’s political climate stays unstable because of the changoever of power from Kim Jong-il to his son Kim Jong-un.
