2 Border Patrol Agents Killed In Train Collision — Updated
GILA BEND, Ariz. — CBS 5 News has confirmed that two Border Patrol agents were killed when a train slammed into their SUV in western Arizona.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said the two agents were inside the truck.
The crash occurred on westbound Interstate 8 and Paloma Road about eight to nine miles west of Gila Bend.
Agent Michael Espinoza said both agents are assigned to the Yuma sector.

…The two agents were on duty at the time of the crash and worked for the Yuma sector of Border Patrol, said Agent Victor Brabble, an agency spokesman.They were both taken by helicopter to a hospital were they died about an hour later, Griffin said.
Their names will not be released until their family is notified, Brabble said.
Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne released a statement saying that the agents were pursuing suspected drug traffickers at the time of the crash.
Yuma Border Patrol sector spokesman Agent Kenneth Quillin says the two agents were rushing to help other agents pursuing a group of suspected illegal immigrants when they crossed a marked railroad. He says the suspected illegal immigrants were on foot and none of them have been apprehended. …
