Cycroft Photography: Rose-breasted Grosbeak
cycroft-photography.blogspot.com
The Rose-breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus) is a songbird of the cardinal (Cardinalidae) family. These photographs are of a male, the female is striped and rather drab looking in comparison—rather like a large sparrow or finch. A common bird of forests and second growth, the grosbeak’s song is a subdued mellow warbling, not unlike that of the American Robin.
